An exclusive look at Dracula's Haunted House
A sneak peak at the Gold Coast's newest attraction, a terrifyingly scary multi-level haunted house.
Dracula’s Director and Technical Designer, Paul Newman, is the man behind the magic. Paul and his team have been working hard over the past few months to bring the company’s $6 million dollar five story haunted house attraction to life. Paul gave Roller-Coaster.com.au a description of his favourite effect, just one of the many that guests will encounter during their journey:
“Visitors find themselves deep underground, lost in a maze of cast iron pillars, dripping water and simulated smells complete the illusion. As they search for a way through, they’ll encounter a hologram image of themselves wandering by…., completely lost and totally eerie!”
A museum of weird collectables, spooky corridors, a floor dedicated to phobias, dare doors—optional doors that guests can open for an ‘extreme fear experience’, and in-costume characters will also entertain and thrill guests along the way.
Scariness aside, in true Dracula’s style, the attraction is still down-to-earth Aussie. Local icons such as a surf lifesaver getting mauled by a pack of sharks and fighting zombie Meter Maids will give visitors an uneasy chuckle.
Company founder John Newman hopes this new attraction will put them on the map. “Stick with what you know and what you do best. In our case that’s entertaining people. We want our offshore competitors trying desperately to rip our ideas off. That’s when you know you’re on top.”
Dracula’s Haunted House is expected to open in late 2007. Stay tuned to Roller-Coaster.com.au for updates.
