Warner Bros. Movie World reveals expansion plans
Two new attractions - the Shrek 4-D Adventure and Superman Escape - have been announced at Warner Bros. Movie World as part of Warner Village Theme Parks' $65 million expansion plans.
::Shrek 4D::These new attractions start with the official opening of the Shrek 4-D Adventure on Saturday September 17. This is a unique 4D experience which kicks off where the original Shrek motion picture left us. The cast and crew of the original film reunite to create this seamless theme park attraction. Already wildly popular at Universal Studios parks across the globe, the Shrek 4-D Adventure is making its Australian home at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast.
::Superman Escape::
The huge 2005 continues with a $12 million steel roller coaster experience like no other. Warner Bros. Movie World will become Metropolis - home to Superman and the fastest complete-circuit roller coaster in Australia. Superman Escape, which opens at the park December 26, will be the country's first new major coaster since Movie World's Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster opened in 2002.
Build by renowned Swiss amusement manufacturer Intamin AG who are responsible for other Australian rides such as The Claw, Tower of Terror and Space Probe, Superman Escape will be a unique highly-themed launched roller coaster. The attraction will feature an extensive dark-ride section for story-telling elements of the ride, a unique "earthquake" section of track to match with the ride's theme followed by the ride's climax - a 0-100km/hr launch powered by a 10,000hp hydraulic motor, reaching a top speed in just two seconds.
What follows is a 40m tall top hat with 90º track - that's straight up and straight down - followed by two camel backs that will leave riders grabbing for anything to hold themselves in their seat and a series of high-speed banked turns that need to be seen to be believed.
When it's all over riders come to a screaming halt thanks to magnetic brakes which allow for a completely smooth and failsafe braking.
::Outback Adventure::
Further details of this separate new attraction have been released. This exciting new dinner theatre will be opening on adjacent land to Warner Bros. Movie World in early 2006 and brings together everything Australian into a two-hour extravaganza that is sure to be a hit with locals and tourists alike.
This huge capital injection will extend Warner Village Theme Parks’ well established reach into major consumer markets both domestically and internationally. The expansion will further support the Group’s commitment to strengthening the Gold Coast’s tourism profile and nurturing the growth of the tourism industry throughout the region by extending business and employment opportunities within the local community.
