  2. Is it Indy at DL levels bad or worse?
  3. I didn't mean this to become a thread on technicalities but you leave me no choice dapto. - Banana bender pub passes the sniff test in terms of being a theme park pub. Its not inside the gate line, but clearly any sane visitor would eat there in preference. - ever since scenic World made it clear they're not building their roller coaster. They don't get to be called a theme park in my opinion.
  4. I went to DW over the weekend and DW was pumping. Let’s hope the weather holds up over the holidays and DW have a banger. It’s been a little while since I’ve been on JR so I thought I would give a little update. DW are continuing to add to JR, some things are positive and some things less positive. The rope around the bamboo intersections has been replaced and glued into place. It looks more durable than the first attempt, but time will tell. Every time I have queued for JR I have complained how hot and stuffy it was but I am pleased to announce I experienced the cooling system for the first time. There are pockets it doesn’t reach but overall, it was much better. The dinosaur poop still looks shit, and I also noticed it is taking DW a long time to get the second waterfall working. Management of DW and Pico Play ought to walk through Rivertown on their knees and they will soon realise kids can’t see anything through the fencing. Why DW went with the backyard privacy fence, I will never know. The bats & water feature inside the main show room look good but I still believe smoke screens should be added to where the trains enter & exit the temple. Only one TV in the station was on, which was a little strange but for the most, loading of trains was first class. On the weekend was the first time I experienced a queue of over 10mins and it could be why I never noticed it before because I have never stopped in any part of the queue for more than 1min or the work experience kid has got their hands on the volume control. The main show room in the queue, I am renaming it to the torture room. I was in that room for 5mins, and I wanted to rip my ears off. Multiply people had their hands over their ears trying to shield themselves from the ear-piercing sounds. Never have I been in queue, anywhere in the world that has the atmosphere sound, turned up to over rock concert levels. It was that painful, that I only rode JR once. DW you need to carry out some test and make sure the torture room is safe because 6 hours later my ears were still ringing. Blaring sounds at people isn’t adding the desired atmosphere. I also believe as the train passes the windows, it should be lit up because nobody even notices it going by.

  6. I've always found the term 'broken down' to be an odd message. Just the word 'broken' isn't really the image I want to have thinking about rides. Even Airlines use 'maintenance delay' or 'technical issue'. Given its a movie themed park, and movie broadcasts used to have a 'technical difficulties' standby slide - i would think it would be on theme to use 'technical difficulties' rather than BROKEN DOWN which IMO just makes it sound like the park is poorly maintained.... #ohwait
  7. It may have changed since I last visited, but last time I ate at Dockside it wasn't table service. It was a sit down meal with a beer, but it was all counter service \ collect at the window - which I wouldn't call Table service. I wouldn't have considered Banana Bender to be 'in a park' considering it is outside the gates and doesn't require admission to dine there. I'd apply the same logic to Scenic World - and also agree the food isn't anything to write home about (that place doesn't really need to try - the attractions draw the people and there really isn't anywhere else to go for food while you're there). So out of the three (or four), Janes wins by default (but would win regardless for food quality and service anyway).
  8. Eats 270 at Scenic World has the best views but the food wasn't amazing.
  9. So as far as I know, there are only three places in Australia where you can get a proper sit-down meal and beer in a pub/tavern style setting in Australia with table service. Considering the preferences of the Australian market, I find this surprisingly low number! If you have eaten at all three, which is your favourite? Also, if you think there is a place that should be in the poll, please tell me and I can redo it.
  10. Last week
  11. iirc, it's essentially a rehash of the blog written a couple years ago with footage of the original scooby doo coaster / coaster walk through.
  12. A trip down memory lane. Which I think intersects with Main St somewhere beyond the Hollywood hills and over the rainbow
  13. Work has officially started on the 2nd and newest Alone Coaster in Australia. The Big Banana’s Plantation Coaster is due to open for the September school holidays. Here is a link to vision and a report of the start of construction ceremony https://www.facebook.com/share/1Bb4HryE3c/?mibextid=wwXIfr
  14. Sneeky peeky at the lift section from a hole in Wizard of Oz
  15. Yeah at this point with the number of and degree of explanations and imagery provided, i'm going to go out on a limb and say @oofy is a troll being deliberately obtuse and should just be ignored in all future discussion
  16. This one came out in 2023. Probably just came out of the new release overnight hires and into the weekly shelves - apparently Africa was the first in a 12-part series for the flying theatre, so I look forward to seeing them all come out eventually Brogent takes IAAPA to Africa in their new Flying Theatre movie – DRdb Hopefully we get the full ten minutes and they don't skimp on the lemon dishwashing scent.
  17. those bamboo style fence panels have been there since before the ride opened. I'm pretty sure the rock wall pieces were too and may just be waiting for them to finalise the other water feature elements prior to install.
  18. yep - 0% market research on new \ returning attractions and 100% 'what can we post that people will like / comment / share / subscribe to'
  19. Much of the elements they could do would require themeing in the area, which wouldn't wash during the day time.
  20. Earlier
  21. In reality, it isn't a big issue, the contractor will be asked to come back and fix their work. Standard clause.
  22. There was paint peeling after only 3 days, but indeed after 3 months it’s gotten much worse
  23. Sounds like it went down for maintenance just before you turned up @franky
  24. Its been SBNO for some time - I'll give them a pass on this one as they're in an unwinnable situation; you'd have to spend money to re-open it for last rides and then permanently close it again. Doesn't make financial sense, especially when the company is trying to consolidate its offerings post merge. Was disappointed it was closed during our first visit in September last year, was kinda hoping to relive the experience one more time before it closed for good.
