  1. Sensationalism makes my blood boil. This is what happens when you employ a 15 year old work experience kid in your multi-million dollar company to write articles because his CV says "he's wicked awesome at Facebook and Wordpress." Good work SeaFM/B105/clickbaiters.

  3. I've learnt to filter out click bait and I recommend others do the same. In the meantime, we've updated facebook with something a little more sane

  4. Clickbaiting in the media sense is slightly different. However it can still generate ad revenue for them. Take this small test. Which would you more likely click on? A - "Rollercoaster Stops Mid-ride Leaving Riders Trapped for Hours" B - "Riders Hanging Seconds From Death as Disaster Strikes Gold Coast Themepark" Or a more tame example: A - "Idiot enters restricted area of gold coast themepark to take photos." B - "Major Security Incident at Gold Coast Themepark"

  5. That website is still up? Crazy, I swear it hasn't changed in like a decade. This thread is win.

  6. Came across this website (http://www.scottware.com.au/theme/dream/logos_maps_etc/ ) which features most of the DW park maps, couple aren't very good quality, so haven't included those below, but these give an idea of the transformation of the park between its opening in 1982 and 2005.

  7. Barring a catastrophic failure, probably the best way to fall out of the log ride is to stand up and rock the boat. EDIT: Doing handstands works too. If the post about is true, my god how breathtakingly stupid. I mean sure, normal people do stupid things sometimes, but not THAT stupid. that's a whole other level of moron, I hope the headline can be changed to 'Adult idiot injured doing the sort of bullshit that even a 12 year old would think is stupid'

  8. You pretty much nailed it in my mind. With all due respect to the Austereo network, they're an entertainment company, not a news company, and so they report what happens with as much journalistic integrity as news.com.au.

  9. You'd think so. But then let's not forget what happened with the Buzzsaw drama (or lack thereof) last year. Dreamworld kept changing the maintenance dates and extending them every time the ride was due to be reopened. So it may very well happen again this time round with the Log Ride. Remember how the Buzzsaw also got similar treatment from the media back then, sensationalised headlines about how it was closed "indefinitely" and giving people the impression it was dangerous and may not reopen at all. Now it's the log ride's turn to cop the same thing, apparently On another note, from that thread... omg, the irony!!!

  10. You my friend should look into how "major media outlets" syndicate and republish content then, and understand that most writers, particularly half decent ones, get paid cents to the dollar for original content, hence how dribble like this happens in the first place.

  11. I just saw. Always neat to have my work pop up somewhere new. I have a lot of respect for the VRTP team and they seem to like what I do.

  13. Highly recommend it. Stay away from P&O, it attracts "certain" people. Food was great, alcohol prices were reasonable (imported beer is cheaper over domestic) and entertainment was awesome, especially the comedy club. If Dylan Holton is still performing at the time of the year I definitely advise you go to his show one night too, amazing voice and talent. I will say that customer service isn't as good as other cruise lines. Some of the wait staff in the dinning room were shocking, bar staff on the lido deck not interested and room stewart not replacing beach or bath towels. All in all superior over P&O and a lot to do. Go for the 10 or 12 night cruise.

  14. If you ran lap bars you could only ever have 2 people on a log. All this talk about logs reminds me of a childhood joke. Once there were three teenagers, two boys and one girl. The teenagers wanted to stay in a hotel, so they drove to the nearest one. The hotel owner said, "We only have one more free room, but it is the haunted one." The teenagers didn't care, so they said they'd take it anyway. "It's on the 4th floor." the owner said. Once the teenagers had gotten to the 4th floor, they heard a sound coming from inside of the room. The oldest boy said he'd go in first to see what the sound was. He went inside and heard a high-pitched voice saying, "When the log rolls over, we'll all be dead!" The teenager ran through the window screaming and died. Then the second oldest boy went into the room and heard, "When the log rolls over, we'll all be dead!" He too ran out the window screaming and died. Then it was the girls turn. Even though she was the youngest of the three teenagers, she was the bravest. She too heard, "When the log rolls over, we'll all be dead!" But she wasn't afraid. She listened closer and heard it coming from the bathroom and saw 2 flies on a piece of poop.

  17. Hah! Yep that's me alright. Signature slicked hair and all. Next time don't be a stranger and come say g'day! I'm currently a Canon full frame guy, but thinking of jumping ship to Sony. My best advice? Find a camera that you're happy to lug around all the time. A small mirrorless camera you're happy to keep in your hand that you can point and shoot at a moment's notice is better then a big heavy camera that's so painful to yield you end up leaving in a bag until you begrudgingly use because you feel so guilty (been, there done that). Basically, the best camera is the one you have with you. I'm also currently toying with a Sony RX100 Mark IV for shits and gigs, and I will say it's the most impressive "tiny camera" you can buy on the market, hands down. How did you know, though? Bingo. It had spot on umami, with a real kick at the end. For those worried about price, i'd either go the sampler pack or the seafood boil. I'll be surprised if anyone comes away from the boil hungry or feeling like they missed out, it's worth the price. While i'm here, i've thrown up some of the photos up on OurWorlds while I continue to sift through footage. It's worth a quick 30 seconds I think: http://ourworlds.co/carnivale-2016-sneak-peek/ Btw, @joz - the first photo shows how they were serving it. It was kind of weird but worked really well.

  18. ^It was posted on the Gold Coast theme park FB page that it is reopening on Wednesday. EDIT: just checked DWs website and it says this.

  19. Yeah, they seemed to range between $9-$10 (slice of pizza, wedges etc) and the $20 mark. I bought a crab baguette which was $14, you could get a chicken one for $12. Pulled pork roll was $14, as was the jambalaya and chowder soup cob. Ribs were $18 I think. They were advertising the seafood boil up on their website for $22, although it did say minimum two people. So not sure if that was the price EACH or for both? But yeah, you get the idea. ETA: If you zoom in on some of the outlet pics posted earlier, you can see the pricing on some of them

  20. What are you talking about? MW in general do an exceptional job on creating a new attraction or event. The only major critical thing at the moment would be the stunt show. I believe the stunt show is farmed out and under a contract to run a certain time frame.

  23. Yep, you shpuld almost never buy a premade one. DIY. If you can build Lego and follow instructions you shouldn't have any issues at all. Hardest part will be getting the front panel inputs right, mainly because they're so fiddly.

  24. What is it with injuries today?! Someone passes out on hot wheels, guy falls out of log ride and I witness some woman fall off a segway, dislocate her leg and get airlifted to hospital from Fraser Island

  26. maybe it was everyone's favourite trespasser trying to have look for other restricted areas that he could explore while doing an handstand?

  27. @Slick those photos are incredible!!! What sort of camera did you use to take them?? I'm seriously considering getting a professional camera, my S6 is great but does no justice when it comes to events like this lol ? Btw, is this you down in the bottom left corner? The angle of your photo above seems to suggest so ? Couldn't agree more!!! My group managed to get a ride on SDSC at the beginning of the evening, but that was only because we bolted for it as soon as they opened the rest of the park up lol. So they (I didn't go, had to wait at the exit as my son is still too chicken to go on it lol) were one of the first lot of people on ? Generally I have the same expectations as what Joz has said, and go to these events just for the experience. It's the best attitude to have in order to have the best night out ☺ Don't be like my sister and her boyfriend... they both ended up missing most of the parade because they were lined up for GL for nearly an hour! You can do the rides any other time if you have membership or annual passes ?
