It wasn't shut down in that sense. A very informative MW staff member (he knows who he is! If he reads this, thank you ) explained to me that the LED green lantern logos on the front of the individual carts is doubled up on the switch which also controls the audio effects. When the Lantern logo on a cart isn't working properly, it HAS to be turned off, because of strict DC requirements that the Green Lantern logo must be displayed properly at all times. So since the LED lights on a couple of the carts recently were playing up, they had to be turned off, consequently the audio went with it. Thankfully the good ol' Movieworld mechanics decided to finally tackle the problem today and fixed all the LED lights on the carts, thus now they can all be turned on normally again1 point

True, but they make for good photos and soak up a bit of the crowds. As of the end of Carnivale , they haven't been confirmed to be coming back but they were starting to discuss it. And I mean don't get me wrong, I'm all for attractive women in small clothing, it just didn't fit the theme I don't think.1 point

See that was easy and makes your posts seem much more credible. Even with the tone. Fair call. I guess my disappointment was more with the 'strongman' guy and the ringleader chicks. They didn't really seem themed the first night. Future nights they added in the makeup to them but it still didn't strike me as 'horror' really. The ringleaders and 'dark angels' (but more so the ringleaders) seemed completely out of place and just seemed to be the sex appeal of the night (and quite likely the reason some people got kicked out of the park).1 point

Actually, this IS a public forum. We're able to express our views and opinions. saying your claims are dubious is not rude, it's a fair critique given some of the things you have posted as fact, not opinion. Saying something is logistically unlikely is not being narrow minded. i stand by both my points1 point

It would be great to see something like this, but obviously themed to Doomsday or a villain. Something to make the area come alive and interactive.1 point

@razza1987 - i love that you're catching up on threads, but please for the love of god edit the quote so only the bit you need is left! a DA is a Development Application... or Dumbledore's Army... depending on the context.1 point

What 'Aussie dark rides'? Like, I can think of JL, but you definitely put that in the plural1 point

Sadly, the Pleasure Beach normally closes before it gets dark nowadays. Riding the Big One in the dark (why hello there Mr Innuendo) is great fun (stop it already). If what's being rumoured at the moment for the new roller coaster surfaces, we'll have to make a trip back...1 point

Most 'non-live' reality tv is filmed a long time in advance as the tone & direction of the shows are largely determined in post production. My Kitchen Rules has fully wrapped filming months before the first episode airs, same applies to Survivor, Top Chef, the list goes on. You also have to remember that whilst DW optioned a further 12 month deal, once they've paid for the licensing its their prerogative as to whether they use it, Sudden Impact have their money for the full period regardless.1 point

Great trip report thanks for this!!! I went to Blackpool in 2004- and absolutely fell in love with the place!! Its history, its unique atmosphere that sort of reminded me of Luna Park on steroids. Absolutely brilliant! 12 years is a long time and I have watched Blackpool change over these years- the introduction of Infusion that came there after the wicked closure of Southport Pleasure Beach. Loved the coasters in this place- especially the grand old dames Roller Coaster, Grand National and Big Dipper. When I went, Blackpool still had The Whip and one of the last operating original Traver company Tumblebugs. Both have sadly been removed but i feel grateful that I had the chance to ride these 2 pieces of important theme park historical artifacts. Loved Sir Hiram's Flying Machines, The Ghost Train and The River Caves. All products of a bygone age and extremely fun to ride. The Steeplechase is also great fun- and of course unique. Absolutely agree 100% with you- if you are in England then do not leave Blackpool off your list. Sure Alton Towers and Thorpe Park have better coasters, but they will never , ever have the history and atmosphere that Blackpool provides. If you are lucky enough to go when the Illuminations festival is on then jump at the chance!! Really enjoyed reading your trip report- it took me back 12 years ago to a memory of a great time and place. Blackpool Pleasure Beach is what I would have envisaged Luna Park Sydney to be like if the 1960's park had survived to the present day, albeit on a smaller scale. Priceless!1 point

I'm hoping for a classic style ride rather than something ultra modern. What I'd really love in the Tango Train space is one of those old school flying chair rides like they had at the park in the 1980's when I was a kid. Not one of those tacky clothesline looking jobs, one of those nicely detailed big ones. I don't think a scream machine type ride would be very well suited to that particular spot (although I do think these type of rides would be good in a refurbished Maloneys Corner area!) For me the park is all about that classic retro feel, particularly the area between the entry and Coney Island, and that seems to be what they're building on, so here's hoping for another classic ride that's a fitting replacement for the classic Tango Train!1 point

I know this has probably been mentioned before, but now that the Tango Train and Flying Saucer has been removed, the park looks empty. there is now only 3 possibly 5 'thrill' rides left, to which most are getting old. I know LPS is a 'family' park but Sydney, and luna Park especially draw in a lot of teens looking for a thrill. Looking back at old videos and pics of LPS's hay day, rides were crammed in every possible spot making the park look alive. I know it ain't gunna happen but I wish LPS would somehow bring that park back or at least add some great thrill rides in the empty spaces to give back a little life to the park. I know LPS has to cater for the younger kids too. But they have many rides too and potentially some room in cony island where they can add a Childs play area. (The unused vintage arcade area that never gets used)1 point

The ride may be dead silent, but it's not the machine noise that has upset the residents in the past - it was the screams from the riders. The difference with the residents now is that there is established case law on the site. Future litigation is likely to fall in favour of the park.1 point

But seriously, if you can even fucking afford to live in Milsons Point, then sure you can afford somewhere else more quiet?1 point
