Glad I could give you a laugh @Theme Park Girl ? Also don't forget that this year, Theme Parks a Go-Go is celebrating 5 years of being for sale.5 points

That's ok mate. It doesn't matter if you get things wrong, what's important is that when you realise it's wrong, acknowledge the mistake and move on, rather than continuing to fruitlessly argue the point, or deleting the replies of those who proved it to you.3 points

I went by Celebration City in Branson, with it's perfectly good GCI wood coaster mocking us. Just recently it was sold off and the coaster was demolished. I remember when I was small, seeing the aftermath of the Luna Park Sydney fire from the cliff top at Milson's Point. I wish I'd had a camera, but I remember it vividly. Seeing the lift hill of the Big Dipper badly burned. Friends in New Orleans have offered to take me through Six Flags New Orleans. Though by the time I get there, they might have developed it into a new park.1 point

Sincerely hoping none of our current parks go that way. But yes - being a Victorian, I have fond memories of Wobbie's World, and also of Wonderland Sydney. I feel out current major parks are in good standing at the moment - so hopefully they won't be lost in the near distant future.1 point

Managed to pop into Lake Dolores Waterpark on my last trip. As most people are aware there isn't much left of it, just holes in the ground and buildings degrading. No pictures though, felt sketchy enough being in there let alone spending time and snapping pics. @Theme Park Girl My partner and I were lucky on our visit to Knotts and bumped into Adam at the front gates waiting for it to open. He was nice enough to do a quick ride on Sierra Sidewinder with us. Check out The Proper People on youtube as well. They've done Six Flags, but they explore a lot of abandoned places and the production level of their video's is pretty cool.1 point

Yep, I've followed Adam! I like Six Flags, also Joyland and Geuga Lake. I also like the one at Pripyat - such a cool/scary story to go along with it. Sad that we don't have any abandoned ones in Aus.1 point

How awesome would it be! I love looking at them as well. Check out the 'Adam The Woo' channel on YT, he has lots of uploads of abandoned places walkthroughs, including numerous theme parks. Six Flags New Orleans has been one I've followed closely. It seems they use it a lot these days as a movie set location Abandoned Theme Parks: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL047A057E91EFDA701 point

The way I like to look at the changes (especially in Disney parks) is to imagine that the "new" ride is the original and the "old" ride was replacing it. Would anyone have been happy if the Frozen ride was there from the start and then replaced with the Maelstrom, I don't think so. A lot of people are just opposed to changes in Disney.1 point

Guys, remember, it's not just the camera, its the user behind it. DSLRs aren't cheap, and even then, the base lenses are shit, so you need to spend more to get a decent lens to go with it. Even the polarising filter Janine used costs around $70. You can get basic DSLRs these days under a grand, but you have to learn how to use them properly. if you're in school - do some photography classes as electives or sport, or a TAFE course. You gotta crawl before you can walk. On topic, I think we need to refer to the highside scooby emergency exit as 'god's door' from now on. Hopefully they clean up the darkened area where the show stage signage used to be too. Cant wait to ride this lame ride.1 point

Ok I've moved/removed a bunch of posts from the last couple days. Can we please try and keep each topic in its own thread so we don't get mega threads. Also take personal insults and bitching to another forum.1 point

So Frozen opened at EPCOT And here's a handy side by side of the ride it replaced Predictably, despite the new ride being better in pretty much every way, the Disney Fans can't quite bring themselves to like it. The comments on the different videos are hilarious, and since I can't sleep, I've decided to answer their comments on here, so here are the things that people say they don' t like about this ride, along with my response: 'The ride has no story'. Actually the story is simply that you're visiting Arendelle in summer and they're letting you in Elsa's fortress- it's the story of your trip to Arendelle. Ok so not much of a story maybe, but it's certainly more than Maelstrom's 'these scenes are all kind of about Norway but there is no coherent plot or really anything else connecting them' 'It lacks heart'. Yeah because that oil rig and random polar bear statue had so much heart 'They've closed in the outside but'. So? The outside bit did nothing when you were on the ride except let light in and it wasn't that amazing when you were outside looking in. 'Frozen is a fad and it won't be relevant for long'. Yeah, in the same way that Snow White, Dumbo, Cinderella Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast have been totally forgotten, soon Frozen will be forgotten too. Yeah, just because it's not in theatres, doesn't mean that the next several generations of little girls (and boys to a lesser extend of course) won't be brought up with frozen as a big part of their lives. 'It doesn't belong at EPCOT'. I can kind of understand that as its changed the direction of the park, but times have changed, move on. The direction of the park is changing, and people are voting with their feet. I'm sorry about that but it's true. 'It's not much of an upgrade than what was already there'. Ah what? Did you see the old ride? The new is better. Seriously, name one bit of the old ride that is better? Maybe I'll give you the waterfall before the drop. Somewhat related to this, someone else also complained about getting rid of Maelstrom for a short ride, without realising this is longer 'There's too much blue' Yeah, it's a Frozen ride, what did you think the main colour palette would be? 'I liked Maelstrom because it didn't have a line' Unpopular rides = better rides? Well then, bring back Superstar Limo and I hope they never replace Stitch at MK! 'It's not educational, the park is supposed to be educational!' The park is supposed to be entertaining and profitable. They've found out that want to have fun when they're on holidays. And really what did you learn on Maelstrom? That those who seek the spirt of Norway face peril and Adventure, but more often find beauty and charm? 'It's not worth waiting 5 hours for' I don't think any ride is. Most of the complaints are pretty light weight. I've got a theory that most of the complaints are from adults who can't accept Frozen as a Disney classic (which it clearly is) because it's not a beloved part of their own childhood. New Disney stuff is always supposed to take a backseat to the classic stuff they grew up with. 'Frozen wasn't around when I was a kid, and I don't want it interfering with the Disney that I grew up with and love!'. Anyone who just admits that's that why they don't like it instead of making up lame excuses to try and justify themselves will have my respect.1 point

You may well find that's not the case. Most of the manufacturers have kits at a couple of price-points, and the more expensive kit is often quite upgradable, whereas the cheaper is not. If they happened to have purchased something that was nearing end-of-life and was not the top model it's quite conceivable that it was aging rapidly, whereas the rest of the M9 fleet may not be. This will vary anyhow, since different outlets have been seen running different gear. @The Original Belinda Brown - you're doing a great job on your responses. Really, quite impressive.1 point

Update from TPSN. We can now see the space where the door into the show stage (used during FN) has been left open. And the slab, for what I'm assuming is for the queue line has been laid.1 point

I'm gonna have to strongly disagree with this. For months now, all that has been played in main street is Disney music (both orchestral and movie songs, like Hakuna Matata and Be My Guest) and I strongly dislike it, as does hubby. In our opinion the music was heaps better when it was top 40 pop music, especially when it's the area where you're walking into the park and feeling pumped and excited. I know that Dreamworld was originally made as an re-imagination of a Disney Park, but it's long since changed and gone down its own path. As @The Original Belinda Brown previously mentioned, it has become a park to celebrate Australia and also emphasises and prides itself on being a park for thrill rides (ie. The Big9). So why oh why are we playing classical old Disney music in main street? I actually posted this same feedback on Dreamworld's FB page a few months back, but the post for some reason never saw the light of day. Please bring the top 40 dance and pop music back for this area. It suits the modern Dreamworld a lot more than what's playing now. It's Dreamworld, not Disneyland. Be proud of being the unique park that you are and we all have come to know and love ??❤️❤️-1 points
