  1. I checked out the area this morning, and think what SW have done is a major improvement from what was there, allows for better flow of traffic and opens up more opportunities for SW now there is a roof over the area. I agree with some of the comments that have been made, but I don't think they were going for a particular theme as such, but something that was bright, simple and flowed. I think they have done that. That could've done a themed area, to a dock yard for example, but I don't see the need. The plaza isn't exactly in a themed area of the park, but I think follows the feel and design of the park. Well done to SW. Here a just a few pics I took.

  2. Just checked out the area. And progress is great. Poison Ivy has appeared near Killer Croc. The strange cutout for the truck has been fixed up now. The wall next to SDSC exit has been themed. The strange cut out in the wall has been fixed up. Along with the rest of the fencing being put in place. And I noticed the bent metal affect is behind the signage too.

  3. Wow, I'm a little sad to read the negative comments about the new Plaza. But then again, I did expect the usual critique as we all give new rides and attractions when they are added to parks, haha ? Personally I think it's absolutely amazing... especially when compared to its previous version, which I might add that I also previously worked within for a couple of years, so I knew it pretty damn well. I don't have a problem with the 'simple but affective' approach they have decided to take, the new facades are aesthetically pleasing to me. And I don't (once again, my opinion) really like the idea of a heavily themed eating area. But then again I haven't been to any theme parks overseas, and therefore don't have a bar already set in regards to expectations or comparisons. I can only judge going by the other parks we have here on the Gold Coast. Honestly I don't think the park is trying to compete or match the standards of anywhere else either, they are just going either what's best for them - a simple, modernised upgrade of a previously tired area - and in this case I think it really works. I think Sea World is definitely on the right track with improving their parks' existing areas, especially if it's assisting in providing more shade and shelter to the public. That's something the park has lacked for decades, and also caused big issues on rainy and bad weather days. It's likely only a matter of time before the food court up the top is upgraded as well to a similar standard. Well done Sea World from me ??

  4. I'm ruling out a clone full stop. I'm sure MW would want to do something original for a 'world's best'.

  5. So far the area that I can tell from the pics where this new coaster will be.

  6. I don't think anyone is really being negative, I'm certainly not. I'm just saying that for me it's more of a nicely presented area than a themed one. Personally apart from individual rides I don't see a reason for Sea World to be themed anyhow.

  7. I'm impressed how quickly they got all the decorations and stuff replaced with the tables.

  8. I don't expect this one to get much activity just yet, but to try and separate the discussion of these two very different projects, let's try and keep all roller coaster speculation and discussion here. Discussion about Doomsday Destroyer, the 2016 flat ride is over here. A few pieces of reading materials to get things started: http://www.parkz.com.au/article/2015/11/21/369-Village_Roadshow_promise_worlds_best_attraction_for_Gold_Coast.html http://www.parkz.com.au/article/2016/01/30/384-Construction_fences_up_as_thrill_ride_rumours_fly_at_Movie_World.html And our ride profile, where we'll have all likely and confirmed information as it comes to light: http://www.parkz.com.au/parks/AU/Gold_Coast/Warner_Bros_Movie_World/ride/2445-Unknown_Roller_Coaster

  9. Yeah I dont have an issue with multiple sources of water on the way, you get that "who's gonna cop it" dynamic.

  10. Am I the only person who has no idea who most of these villains are?

  11. I'd like to see them fix the timing either geysers after the backwards drop. In summer they should be drenching you not set to miss

  13. I'm expecting high things from this refub... Movie World has done a lot of great things lately and I have confidence they will blow us away again.

  15. I hope they do something soon in regards to the water park, whether or not it's involved with this talked about expansion. Here's some pics of it atm, as you can see it's pretty much just sitting stagnant until they follow up somehow. Must be frustrating for park guests who expect to have somewhere to swim when they visit. I can only imagine the incoming complaints over the summer months, especially given I was employed there during the time they were constructing Shark Bay (with the sharks temporarily housed in the swimming pools) and was bombarded with complaints whilst working the Hot Dog stand set up just outside. If people can externally see something like that, but can't use it during its prime period, they are gonna kick up a stink ?

  19. I didn't address the construction site, because nothing has changed? I don't want to bore people on here, I prefer to share photos when there's progress made.

  20. Sorry but the only difference I can see is the sky and the construction site is what everyone expected it to be, dirt. It's annoying to come to these topics to see repeat photos with little difference. Don't get me wrong I love seeing all the new things happening but it's a bit annoying seeing the same thing that was posted a few days before

  22. Jamberoo updated their park map today which gives the first sign of The Perfect Storm's (possible?) theming - a tractor, a Model T Ford ute, an utility pole, a piece of wood & a horse placed around the exterior of The Perfect Storm's main Tornado: Hard to tell but based on the above park map, I think Jamberoo is also building a small shelter to store tubes next to The Perfect Storm's splash pool. I think the lockers next to Banjo's Billabong are new too.

  23. Hey I didn't say I think they should just do that, just that there's a chance that's what they mean. If it were up to me I'd like to see them go full Cedar Point and take over the entire Spit

  27. well to be fair they have painted the walls yellow when they were originally white and plus I had photos of the actual construction site which no one has posted yet which you didn't address in your post

  28. Thanks for the great shots TPN. It's good of you to go to the parks on such a regular basis and take all the photos. With regards to the focus, you could have left the first shot out or you could have adjusted your camera (simply by panning right slightly or adjusting the little focus box) in order to get that shot in focus whilst staying in automatic. But I understand shots are often taken on the fly and that sometimes you might not nessarily bring your DSLR to the park. I look forward to Alex's next update. ? The area looks great. I wonder how much interactivity it's going to have.
