  1. Or that they knew and weren't allowed to reveal anything, so they did the right thing and kept their mouths closed and waited until it was official announced by the right source

  5. And just because I went today for like 2 hours and usually can't post until night, here is my contribution.

  6. Just to clarify my earlier comments.... There's nothing I said there which hasn't turned out to be the case. The photo Ninja posted IS in fact of the new bar, the maze (which has now been confirmed does share the same theme) is on the other side ??

  7. Just to clarify information about Stage 2: And if anyone is interested or doesn't know, here is everything that opened today as part of Stage 1:

  8. Sorry Janine but that's incorrect as far as I'm aware. Due to noise restrictions external rides are not able to operate post 9pm (may be 9:30). Ride queues close to give enough time for all guests in line to get through prior to the noise restrictions kicking in. last year Both nights I attended SE queue was closed by 8:15.

  9. So long as no one broke any rules, did anything stupid or pestered any staff then I don't see the harm in sharing photos of anything and everything. That's pretty much the Parkz policy. I think it all looks really great and any publicity by way of photos on Parkz is only going to help build hype at this point.

  13. Here's a quick vid from today. You can also see about 45 seconds into the video people were being told not to take photos of the incomplete area/over the fence as they don't want to have it seen before it's ready. I'd read that as the same way Disney doesn't want their back of house seen - DC might not be too happy if an incomplete area was visible and there was construction rubbish or something that made the area look unclean.

  14. I can only assume so! Either way I'm sure it's definitely something to look forward to ??

  16. DW is still the superior full day park for Families. MW has the best coasters, and will continue to do so. DW also hasn't fallen off at all, they improved their offering dramatically in the last 12-24 months.

  17. Visited MW today and had my first ride on DD.. Themeing throughout the area is impressive - I can't wait to return and see everything in all it's glory! The Weather was pretty terrible today which was great for us as we experienced little to no wait all day. I only rode DD once. We would have gone again however riding in the rain didn't seem like our idea of a good time. Tbh, if it was more thrilling, I wouldn't have cared less about the rain and gone again and again. As others have said, the ride is not super thrilling - it is a lot of fun. We were among only a total of about 10 riders aboard, so given the ride was only about a third occupied, I believe it would be a much better experience when riding with a full load, adding atmosphere to the experience. I would also like to caution those of larger size that this ride will be your most challenging one to be accomodated. Myself, I am of bigger build and have no problems with riding Scooby-Doo or any other rides at MW. In fact the only other ride I have found a similar squeeze has been The Claw. Personally, I would love DD to go faster. It feels very controlled (like wipeout) with no free/momentum based motion. I guess that's why ppl are less inclined to motion sickness? As free fall motion is not a possibility with DD, a faster ride would certainly add to the thrills. I would love to know if going faster is even possible? Judging by the size of the motors Im going to say so. Others would possibly find DD frightening if it is their first time being held upside down from a fair height. On the thrill meter, they might rate it 9/10. I would give it 5/10 and rate every other thrill ride ahead. Scooby-Doo included. The entire area as a whole, I rate 7/10 and would happily give it another point if the ride could be sped up or offer a faster, more thrilling mode. Thrill ratings aside, this is a much needed attraction for the Park and will further assist with balancing out the Crowds who will find themselves more evenly dispersed whilst adding a needed extra half hour play time. After the big coaster next year, I really want to see a classy spin and spew flat added to the old Lethal Weapon Q/cinema area. With no Adult/family spin rides to date, I believe it would round things out very nicely.

  18. I'll do a proper review later on, but I must say, Dreamworld really need to invest in some of this stuff. https://www.bunnings.com.au/our-range/brands/c/croc-grip They managed to do it with the stairs at the front of the park, they really need to do it on Tiger Island. Who really thought that rounding off the edges of the stairs and painting them with slippery paint and having a very badly slippery ground was a good idea? I saw 4 people slip over on the stairs today and one person slip over on a ramp and require medical attention. Not a great look for opening day. I'd like to think if I went back in 1-2 weeks that this would be rectified though, otherwise I'd have to strongly recommend you avoid using the stairs in the rain and elderly people should avoid it all together in wet weather. Anyway it's not all bad news, the area looks great.

  21. I can see TPSN is going to love the TI thanks for the extra update Nikki, I won't be able to check it out until Tuesday, it really looks fantastic, both Doomsday and the improved TI look like they are going to be a huge success for both parks

  22. I don't need ones with any gimmicks. Bring back the original. With the others you can't see where everyone is until the end. This version as Joz said was just pure fun and the racing part with your mates was the best part, so many great memories of it.

  23. Yeah that's very true! The precision to detail is nothing what I expected the area to look like. MW did an amazing job, I can't wait to see it in person!

  24. It's not exactly like DW have been sitting on their hands. they have invested serious capital on new/refreshed F&B outlets across the park, the Brock Museum, new TI, Lego shop. Whilst these may not be thrill rides or coasters, they are offerings that engage and please their core market - families, and also experiences that make DW a more complete full day park.

  25. It was pretty much just things that were not visible or what we weren't able to take photos of from the public area that were a no go. Now that the area is open and a lot of the extra theming can be seen even without sticking a camera over a fence, i don't see why we can't now post them.

  26. I hope when they say 'new and improved' they mean 'exactly the same'. Best slide in the park, just pure fun, not extra gimmicks required.

  27. As far as the size of the steel for the footings, (someone said before it is due to the soil conditions) this is correct. When we install lighting towers, the condition of the soil determines the footings, so good soil will allow for a pier footing (the long steel cages) where soil that had been transported to site to level the land, or if there is a water table not that far below the surface you would use pads as in the photos above to spread the weight. As an idea, a 25m steel light tower will have a pier footing approx 4.5m to 6m in depth, however this varies depending on the g-force that will be placed on the tower. So as far as the large footing that has been completed...it could be for a loop or a launch end, it really is anyone's guess at this stage.

  28. @Richard yeah, I know. I'm just aware of what was asked by the general manager of peeps who attended the TVC, so I'm trying to be somewhat respectful of that. At the time, what statues in the area that were covered or off limits, was also requested to be off limits to the internet until the official opening day. Waiting one more week can't hurt.

  29. The detailing and finishing looks freakin amazing! Great pics @Theme Park Girl ! I just wanted to add... Maybe I missed something, and I'm no professional like you guys, but does anyone else think the main sign is facing that direction for underlying/future reason? Maybe down the track there will be more foot traffic coming through from another point there? Just a thought...

  37. Visited the VL area today for the first time and LOVED it. Can't wait for all the interactive areas to be finished off. I did however notice a few major puddles forming (enough to get your socks wet) including at the entrance to the ride itself. I'm not sure how easy/hard these are to fix, but I hope they figure something out.
