I don't really like park guests being referred to as Randoms. Remember they pay for all this stuff we love. Just remember all of us are merely park guests if we walk through the front gate. Stay humble folks5 points

Hey - don't short change the park map! As a kid I was obsessed with them. I remember when the internet first became a thing in the late 90's and the only thing I used it for was looking up overseas theme park websites and pouring over the park maps!3 points

Just thought I'd post a follow up on regards to the whole policy on taking photos inside theme park shops. I dropped into guest services earlier today at MW for a bit of a chat about it. I mentioned the incident last weekend when I was scolded by one particular staff member whilst filming a live stream inside the new DC store. A phone call was made to the head retail managers, and it was confirmed from up above that it's actually 100% allowed, so long as not photos of on-ride preview screens. I received an apology on their behalf for the incident on Saturday, and was informed that they are now sending out memos to all the retail outlets to inform staff that it's fine for guests to photograph inside outlets. I was also told to let them know if it happens again, so they can follow up accordingly with certain staff members who giving out incorrect information. They said that whilst they did once have rules in place years ago against photos and video for such things, they have long since relaxed them, given that times have changed in the way of social media and modern technology, and everyone is essentially carrying a camera with them everywhere these days. So there you go, for future reference. Debate over ?3 points

Hold on, so you work at MW now? No, they mean exactly what they wrote. Negative g force is about downward acceleration, not airtime.3 points

I was lucky enough to be chosen today to experience the VR and it was AWESOME! Definitely exceeded my expectations. As soon as the headset goes on, you're completely in another world. It makes you think twice if you're actually on a roller coaster or not ? It was just so real! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has never tried it before. I think audio would definitely improve the experience immensely (if that's possible). I think I also saw TPG try it out aswell , so I'm looking forward to hearing her review #StalkerAlert ?2 points

Agree with @djrappa, except sometimes one does need to differentiate between us as enthusiasts \ fanatics \ more knowledgeable park goers - ie: people who would refer to coasters by their manufacturer or model, as opposed to people who go - hey look - a roller coaster! For me, I prefer GP, or general public, vs. Enthusiast. Whilst I realise that enthusiasts are still 'general public' as far as the park is concerned, its what I use to differentiate.2 points

I can honestly say I rarely get wet on Rocky Hollow... And it might have a second drop, but Vikings Revenge has a Castle, and interesting stuff to look at throughout the ride... I mean you get to go under another roller coaster! We've discussed here ad nauseum about what each park has, does, and is about to do. The problem here is that regardless of how many flat rides Dreamworld installs, they will still be regarded poorly against ANY competitor who opens a roller coaster - regardless of how many flats were installed and how many rides weren't installed by either of them. We all know a coaster brings all the boys to the yard. It may not be what everyone wants, but go onto any park facebook page and ask the question of their followers and the majority will ask for a new coaster every. single. time. By not doing so, Dreamworld has chosen to play second fiddle. Whatever their reasons - whether it be because they're trying to refurbish other attractions (MW has done so whilst still almost concurrently building two new ones), reinvigorate the parks shops and facades (shit, MW has done that too - still while building two new rides back to back), or just holding out on spending more capital when you seriously just want someone else to buy the park from you so you can focus on your arcade business in another country because it delivers quicker returns for the investors (...THAT definitely does not sound like the strategy of a company operated by a bank...yeah got nothin here /sarcasm) What efforts they have done in the past few years are now about to be obliterated by a left-right hook combination delivered by the twin forces of Intamin and Mack. So long Dreamworld...2 points

We have enough coasters with launches, would like to see a traditional lift hill. Nothing like the suspense of cresting the hill before the first main drop especially if it is a decent drop following the lift.2 points

Haha, sure did! You should have come and said hello! I don't bite ?? I also absolutely loved the VR experience, it blew my mind. I totally agree with the other comments about it. The experience is extremely immersive, the headsets block out all light from the outside, so all you see is what's happening inside. It also reacts to your movements, for example in the VR program you start off as a prisoner bound in an Asylum room, and if you turn your head to look in different directions, the same happens in the program. So you can look around at goings on around you at any time. If it weren't for recognising the routine of my favourite Coaster throughout the program (keeping in mind I have ridden it quite literally over 100x lol) then I would have forgotten I was on it. The program is very absorbing. My one and only issue is that after the first Corkscrew, the turbulence of AA made my headset feel like it had become a bit loose, so that distracted me away from the experience whilst I impulsively reached up to fix and tighten it. Whilst filling out the feedback forms afterwards, I heard a couple of other people mention they had the same issue. So next time I will have to make sure my headset is on extra tight, so it doesn't distract me away from the experience at all. Other than that, I absolutely loved it. It's a totally new experience, and I definitely think it's worth the $5 upcost it's rumoured to have soon. Cant recommend it enough ??1 point

I can't speak highly enough for MW guest service team, they have been proactive, helpful and a delight to deal with the few times I've had queries or issues in park.1 point

When you refer to someone as "a fellow (worker/student/theme park enthusiast)' you are stating that you belong to the same group of people. So when he said 'speaking to a fellow worker' that indicates (if correct English was being used) that he too was working there.1 point

Whilst I can certainly appreciate the enthusiasm behind your sentiment, am I the only one thinking that perhaps your "So Long Dreamworld" comment could be a tad over the top? No one here has concrete news on Dreamworld's future plans and I think its a little early to predict Dreamworld's demise or their throwing in the towel. Just my opinion.1 point

Something unexpected and irrelevant, but often amusing. A very over-used word now, use it when something really is random. The problem with calling a non-enthusiast a random is a non-enthusiast is not random but more the norm and an enthusiast would be more random. I love the urban dictionary. "The latest buzzword used amongst mindless teenagers as a way of showing just so utterly irreverent their predictable sense of humour is. Particularly dominant among English teens and University students, the word "random" or the act of being "random" is a desperate plea for others to recognise how totally against the grain of the norm you are and that you're really crazy and out there. Trouble is, being "random" is predictable, boring, moronic and extremely sad indeed." In all seriousness @Santa07 I didn't think it came across in a derogatory manner.1 point

I wonder if an upcharge tour would work well in the Studios? With small controlled groups you could provide lockers and make people put their phones/cameras away, and the studios finally have enough history that interesting things have happened there. I don't know if it's something you could do with a big production in town (not without a change to the hiring agreement anyway) but I've got a suspicion that there's a bigger market for behind the scenes studio tour than there is for a behind the scenes theme park tour (despite the theme park tour being significantly more interesting to me).1 point

Hey parks crew, long time forum browser, first time posting. Couldn't pass up the opportunity to share a little about getting to try out the VR on Arkham Assylum this afternoon. Saw @themagician had posted about VR testing this morning so decided to head to the park. Queued for Arkham at about 3:30 and noticed a few MW team riding with VR, decided to ask if we could try it out and we're initially told it would be completely random and couldn't be guaranteed but after queuing for a second time and asking a different team member if we could wait, he happily put us to the side and grabbed us some VR headsets for the next train. This was my very first time using VR and i was completely blown away by how immersive the experience is, it takes a little minute to adjust and can be slightly off putting for a moment but is quite easy to adjust to. The headsets are really comfortable with an adjustable knob at the back and just a simple drawstring under the chin like on a straw hat, didn't have any issues feeling like the headset was going to fall off. As for the ride itself, I won't spoil details unprovoked, but i was completely blown away. The VR experience totally transformed the entire ride, it was light years more intense than the regular ride, I have never EVER screamed on that ride like i did today. There was only one portion of the ride that to me was easily recognisable, i didn't even notice the intense leg crushing restraints at the end of the ride. Overall I would definitely rate this adaptation to the Arkham. We couldn't thank the staff enough for letting us test and they had us fill out some feedback forms afterwards. We were also told that it was looking like it will be $5 per ride, I was happy to hear that. I'd been sceptical on the pay per ride scheme but after riding today i will without a doubt be riding again and will be more than happy to be paying $5.1 point
