^ This I think the problem is that no one who is with VRTP really get what made Sea World a good park when it was at its peak, it was that good mix of attractions the park had. Since they don't get why it's good they can't see the parks potential. It has never been the first choice for thrill rides (nor should it be really), but it traditionally has had a good enough ride collection that those who go to theme parks for rides aren't left disappointed. Now the ride collection is disappointing as rides have been removed without replacement, the shows have been cut and cut until we get to the point now where Jet Stunt Extreme goes for 10 unentertaining mins, the audio is so bad in the Seal Stadium that you can't understand it, and the Dolphin Show really fails to sell Sea World's message of the care for the animals and serious conservation issues, and given how much heat Sea World has been under from the poorly informed Facebook brigade, that seems like a message worth hammering home. Now we're staring down the barrel of 2 attractions closing without replacement, one of them being one of the most popular family rides on the Gold Coast. But it's OK though, they built a new roof lately. Phew! The park will never be the thrill ride capital of the Gold Coast, nor should it be really. But it does need 1 or 2 BIG thrill rides, and 3 or 4 family rides. Not kiddie rides mind you, family rides. Rides that appeal to people of all ages, with very low height requirements. What sort of rides? Well a flume ride ticks a lot of those boxes. There are a lot of combinations of rides that would work, when I made my proposal I went with a MACK launch coaster, Spinning Coaster, and shooting dark ride as a way to restore the parks balance, with a view to also adding a big night time show. Lots of combinations could work, (although I think a drop ride is a total waste of time on the Gold Coast with Giant Drop just down the road). I think they need to lay off the animal attractions for a bit, if you want to see animals on the Gold Coast, you're going to Sea World. They already totally own that market. I'd like to see a few different animal attractions open at Sea World in the future, but the balance needs to be corrected first. That means a new intermediate thrill ride (something on the same level as Doomsday/Pirate ship), a new family ride (replacement flume or Vekoma Madhouse, or better yet both in a new themed area) and a new big thrill ride (something to take over Corkscrew's role as the big impressive coaster in the park). Then you can add animal attractions and have them make a difference, but right now, it's a shell of a park that has a lot of potential, which is being dashed at every opportunity. Incidentally, if they do demolish the castle, get the projector from the 3D cinema over to WnW and do nightly Dive in Movies in Summer again.5 points

That's just a random coaster design from the game No Limits.3 points

It's not a harsh forum, we just have a good nose for sniffing out BS, and no *wink* or "I was joking" follow up post makes bogus initial posts justified or ok. As for speaking our minds, is that not the entire point of a discussion forum??2 points

Doesn't even look like it matches the footprint we have so far. From all the hints we've been getting from people who do know, this is the only thing that doesn't match. Please don't be surprised when I dont take this seriously.2 points

Well, apart from several media outlets, the fact that construction tenders (as far back as June\July) were referring to a 'hyper coaster' project at Movie World would tend to be a bit of a giveaway: https://estimateone.com/movieworld-hyper-coaster If this discussion was in the MW coaster discussion thread, I might be bothered paging back to show you the images that were posted, but since it isn't, I won't - feel free to actually read the damn thread and you might learn a thing or 40.2 points

Police have today completed their analysis of the scene at Dreamworld following the deaths of four people on a ride at the Coomera theme park last month. The site has now been handed back to Dreamworld. http://mypolice.qld.gov.au/blog/2016/11/07/update-dreamworld-investigation/2 points

They've posted 1 tenth of my total posts in 9 hours, and I've been here on and off for almost four years. I'm impressed, honestly.2 points

If I could, I'd vote twice or even three times. What I've voted in the poll is Movie World - not because they desperately need a new area as they've just gotten one, but they need an area with a new theme as I'm sure everyone agrees the DC comics theme is starting to take over the park. Theming a new area to some major movie franchise and adding a new coaster (I am speaking several years into the future here though) or flat ride would be great. There's always the possibility that Dreamworld remove Gold Rush due to the recent incident and in that case they'd be in need of a new area. Great opportunity for a great new family ride (fingers crossed for a dark ride here) or the rollercoaster they're in need of as the area doesn't necessarily have to even stick to the Gold Rush plot of land and could always extend back into Blue Lagoon. Sea World, as has been discussed could also do well with a nice area. Something along the lines of Joz's idea would be ideal for the park. The water parks don't really need anything because they're not really split into themed areas in the first place. If you're speaking new slide complexes, well there is the rumoured slide tower for WWW next year. I've also attached a pole.2 points

Rumoured Coaster? I think you have some serious catching up to do in the Movie World rollercoaster thread.2 points

I think the theatre/vikings revenge is prime to be replaced for something else. A 3D simulator of some sort with a good show length is my vote. Pretty easy to theme to the sea in some way...not pirates, not spongebob or some other ip...something unique to SeaWorld.1 point

Seriously though, this ride looks like it's going to be awesome and I cannot wait until this ride opens next year I'm so pumped!!!! It's been a few years since I've ridden a new large coaster since I rarely go overseas and only fly about once a year. I haven't even ridden Abyss yet and I've never been to Melbourne or Perth1 point

Billabong Restraunt is pretty nice and reasonably priced, so if you want a feast it's worth it. And Corroboree is still the animal exhibits, with a couple of shows. The VR is just an extra experience you could1 point

@razza1987 I totally agree! It would be something to spice up the WWF area, Instead of the current pictures of the western country. Heres my idea for a couple of shows: DC Heroes vs Villains: It would be awesome to see a show where the Heroes try and defeat the villains, and just in time because of the new ride. I also think it ties in well because of the recent movies and new movies being launched by DC. (Suicide Squad - Wonder Woman) A western show: This would look pretty nice in the WWF area, IMO, it should be like a shootout or something... but also incorporates the public so its more enjoyable. It would be a great addition to add to the area, liven it up a little bit. IMO, i think the parade at the end of the day has gotten a little boring, they shouldn't just have the characters on the floats... I think they should be allowed to jump down and interact with everyone; be a bit more friendly!1 point

I am apologizing for this new poll, it was unnecessary and when created, I didn't realize the amount of polls had been made this week. I'd be fine if the moderators took this down. Also, Alexb, I had a massive mind blank. I was thinking through what had been confirmed about the coaster and completely forgot the Tenders sorry.1 point

Loki - daily pre-ride inspections usually involve maintenance checking certain points around the ride, usually pre-determined by the manufacturer - ie: check all safety pins are in place, check all harnesses lock down, and then depending on the ride - things like track walks to ensure it is free of obstruction and nothing is misplaced, and then running the ride in manual mode, making it do certain things to ensure it operates the way it is supposed to. A safety audit is usually an external person with experience in site safety etc coming in to see that everything that should be in place, is in place - making sure regular maintenance is performed when it is supposed to, and identifying any hazards that exist. This isn't done daily. In a perfect world, daily maintenance and annual refurbs done in house would be all that is required - however - when you do the same thing day in and day out you can get complacent. Safety audits are designed to ensure complacency doesn't happen, by letting a set of fresh eyes into the workspace to see things that people who do it daily might not see. As a little side note - to give you an idea of a 'typical' sort of daily maintenance check, here is the daily maintenance check for the old Bush Beast at Wonderland:1 point

@YLFATEEKS this poll was not created by Gold Coast Amustments Force. This poll was created by @Intimidator305. however it is really annoying having tones of threads for MW's new roller coaster. We have a MW roller coaster thread and don't need a thousand more.1 point

Something Sierra Sidewinder-esque would be rather good, particularly given it's 107cm height restriction and potential for a really good capacity. Manta as a marquee thrill ride is a bit weak IMO, I think they need something that'd really get the public's imagination, and I can't see Manta as being that ride, it's probably also a bit similar to Jet Rescue. Not opposed to that ride system though, after all Blue Fire and Manta are basically the same ride with different layouts, and I must admit I have turned into a bit of MACK fan boy lately.1 point
-
Well said @joz ! I think that's exactly what SW needs. I think a Mack launch like Manta at SW San Diego would be perfect. As for a spinner, something like Sidewinder at Knotts would be great, but theme it to an octopus or something that spins around. As for the shooter dark ride, Iron Reef again at Knotts would be great! I'd also like to see a soarin' type ride take over the Theatre. I'm not too sure if the kids & family's still love it, but I personally think it's old and needs to be replaced. A soarin' type ride would be perfect for families & I could just see kids really enjoying it, as well as adults.1 point

Woah there... Firstly, who's angry? Secondly, who's assuming anything? There is tens of pages of talk about the coaster if you can bother looking for the thread and catching up Thirdly, my 4 year old makes YouTube videos. I've even seen Dogs with channels. The fact you've posted a video on YouTube doesn't mean you know what's going on, it just means you know how to use a computer or smart phone. Finally, you currently know jack all as a rookie poster here, and what I mean by that is, unless you have some valid information to share that is in some way validated, you know as much as all of us that do or do not know anything, and either choose to or are bound to not sharing.1 point

They built Green Lantern for MW and we all know what happened back in March of 2015 on that ride. Something else I'd like to add is another family ride. Storm is a great replacement for Bermuda, but is more of a family thrill and therefore has turned away some of BT patronage. Half my family included. I think a true family ride is needed to balance that out. Also if you want to see a great new layout/expansion idea for SW take a look at what Joz did a couple of months back, it would be perfect for the park!1 point

Well, based on tradition from SeaWorld who close rides for maintenance for extended periods then tear them down, Vikings looks like it may be on the chopping block. I'm not holding my breath on this, but it could happen, like Corkscrew and Bermuda before it. If that happens, then that means there are no log flumes left in the park, and the only rides left in the park are Storm, Jet Rescue and the Spongebob rides. Also @joz didn't SeaWorld base Vikings' design off Arrow log flumes? I seriously hate how SeaWorld, and VRTP as a whole, close rides without warning, it is a grand example of trolling and gives park guests the middle finger.1 point

two most recent major ride incidents at our parks include: Accident on TRRR - a ride over 30 years old Accident on GL - A ride less than 5 years old. Age isn't the factor here. Otherwise LPM would have to close the scenic railway.1 point

Hey guys, all these "reputation" posts are getting a bit old, and are uninteresting to most readers.1 point

I've got a feeling that this would have something to do with what happened at Dreamworld. Like Thunder River, the Flume at Sea World is an in-house design. The cost of insuring an in-house is probably about to go through the roof. The other thing if something were to happen, Sea World would be fully exposed. You'd hope that they do whatever they can to get the ride running again, whether that be getting outside risk assessor and engineers to sign off on the ride/design or getting on the phone to MACK about refurbishing/rebuilding the ride. It's not really something that Sea World can afford to lose in it's current depleted state.1 point
