You're an angry little merkin ain't you. I picture you to be like a cranky Chihuahua, new on the block and trying get noticed by all the bigger dogs, so you are doing your best to make a lot of noise. That's all good and fine, you have everyone's attention. Now let's see if you can accept a life of normality here and integrate or if you'll forever feel like you're out of place and little dog syndrome will stop you from enjoying your time here and annoy the crap out of everyone..7 points

I think the theatre/vikings revenge is prime to be replaced for something else. A 3D simulator of some sort with a good show length is my vote. Pretty easy to theme to the sea in some way...not pirates, not spongebob or some other ip...something unique to SeaWorld.4 points

If we're looking ahead as to the future of that area, here's what i'd do. Firstly, we're presuming that indeed, River Rapids isn't coming back. For all intents and purposes then, there's nothing beyond Buzzsaw really holding the area to a theme, and i'd imagine Buzzsaw would be rethemed out of respect at some point anyway. What i've thought Movie World & Sea World have always done really well is putting on big crowd pulling shows. Stunt Driver, Main Street Parade, the Jet Ski Show, the Dolphin Stadium etc. etc. etc. and yet to this day there's still not a unified large auditorium/stadium/space for people to go to see unique shows beyond the stage in front of the globe. This has meant entertainment has ended up in weird spots like out of the front of the ice-cream parlour or just sporatically in the most of random of places, which has drawed at best, a passing crowd, and not the thousands Village pull in their respective stages & environment. With this in mind, i'd go back to basics and redevelop Gold Rush into old school Dreamworld Village Green, and here's how: Redevelop the cinema into a soarin' attraction and build into the Eureka space. Open up the pathway to allow for a parade to run all the way from the fountain right up to the Dreamworld Auditorium Redevelop the Dreamworld Auditorium, modernise it onto a much more useable daily space, rename it in memory of the four that tragically lost their lives, and create a gorgeous entrance space with four, tall, distinct palm trees at the entrance roughly where the Hollywood House is now. Re-theme Buzzsaw to the Thunderbolt, essentially repaint the ride to look like one of Thunderbolt's signature loops Re-develop the horrid pathway systems that the Sandersons Group put in when they built The Giant Drop and create a more accessible, open & green thoroughfare through that entire corridor of the park. Add more Main Street style facades in and around the Soarin' Style attraction and create new retail experiences and spaces for people to enjoy I've always thought @Gazza was right on the money with some kind of Gerstlauer Eurofighter into that space, and I think given the tremendous value you get from them (just look at Abyss) not to mention how great they are in a tight space, this would be more then ideal. Combine that with a Star Flyer and you'd have a revitalised area that would honour the past, be a worthy response to what Movie World's doing next year (if done right), would be able to manage the capacity lost from River Rapids and offer guests new retail and show experiences that can be refreshed often. And to top this all off, this would then open up a clear and open path to expanding out into where Blue Lagoon was, and also give Dreamworld a clear and appropriate corridor to expand into should they build a second gate in the future to link to the Coomera Town Centre. Thoughts? I'm going to mood board you guys while i'm here. Above - Buzzsaw paint job inspiration Above - Look and feel for the new buildings that would wrap around the other three sides of the Soarin' theatre. Above - Blue Lagoon could be redeveloped to look like this in the future. Above - Inspiration for some of the gardens and pathways that could interconnect the area between Rocky Hollow, Giant Drop and Village Oval. Above - super rough idea of what the entrance could look like for the Dreamworld Auditorium.3 points

Unless Dreamworld themselves state that the river rapids and remainder of Gold Rush Country is going to be demolished how can we say its going to happen. Until Dreamworld confirm about that we have no ground to stand on, it would be the same as saying the river rapids are going to re-open. 24hrs ago Dreamworld quite possibility wouldn't of had a clue when the park was going to re-open little own the future of Gold Rush Country and the River Rapids.3 points

Maybe. Someone suggested on here (can't remember who, please feel free to pipe up!) what I thought to be an excellent modification idea for the ride to make it significantly safer... relocating the ride exit to the other side of the bridge, so that guests disembark before the raft mounts the conveyor belt. I can't imagine too much $$ would need to go into such a change, basically they just need to build a ride stop point and enclosed jetty, followed by a flight of steps up to ground level - which I am sure already exists in some form, given that staff currently have access to the boat in the reservoir. As I said on my blog earlier, I would totally understand and accept if they did close down and remove the ride in respect to the Kate, Luke, Roozi & Cindy. I think that would be a fair and justified decision. But I can't help but think that, emotions aside, it would be a missed oopportunity to allow what has been a popular and incident free ride for the past three decades a second chance. Rides that have been given this chance in the past have gone on to become the safest and incident free rides in the world, and a perfect example to amusement worldwide as to the best way to secure and maintain an attraction to the absolute highest safety standards possible. Once again it does all come down to the cause of the accident, but if the ride itself is at no fault (ie. Operator fault, freak accident etc) then it would just be a shame to close it when essentially it wasn't to blame. That ride has brought 30 years of happiness and memories to millions of peeps. I think that alone makes it worthwhile to consider alternative options other than its iimmediate closure/removal.2 points

I would expect to see three trains so that there are two trains available to operate at all times. I don't see it being designed to actually operate three trains, purely because there's no way operations here would be able to keep up with dispatch times to make this worthwhile. We're at a point now with memberships/VIP passes that there is no longer an off-peak season where it's acceptable to operate with one train. With figures like $30 million being thrown around, then the expectation is obviously that this coaster will be a huge driver of attendance in order to justify that kind of expense. If you're confident in its strength as a drawcard, then you have to be planning to be able to operate at capacity year-round. For what it's worth, Superman Escape is desperately overdue for a third train as well to allow it to mostly operate with two, as is Arkham Asylum for a second.2 points

Why lucky? I think TPSN reporting on that as official would be hilarious, and right up there with the Fountain! The trouble is, this community is not new. it's been going for over 12 years. Many seasoned vets on here have seen people come and go and post outlandish things as truth, and it's pretty much the boy who cried wolf. You're new on the block - you've only got so much time to make a good first impression. You started out bold by creating lots of new posts, which is good that you're trying to promote discussion, its great that you're keen and enthusiastic about the parks - a lot of us are - but you're very quickly giving yourself a reputation (*screw the reputation points - i'm just talking about the impression you're giving) of an annoying twerp that people just ignore. As many have said to you already - just sit back and observe for a little while and see how things run - then join in the fun!2 points

Revealed this morning: - Two Woodies (Traditional and Hybrid). - Two Water rides (Rapids and Flume). - Customise ride sequences (like what MW can do with Doomsday). - Add music to rides and speakers throughout the park. - Track rides (powered cars). - Triggered events on rides (Audio, lights, effects, ANYTHING ANIMATED in-game). - Dark Ride (underground).2 points

Yeah, I saw the wink. I suppose the danger is a lot of people read these forums and take what is said as gospel. You're lucky TPSN is not reporting that coaster design as official. ?2 points

It's not a harsh forum, we just have a good nose for sniffing out BS, and no *wink* or "I was joking" follow up post makes bogus initial posts justified or ok. As for speaking our minds, is that not the entire point of a discussion forum??2 points

Loki - daily pre-ride inspections usually involve maintenance checking certain points around the ride, usually pre-determined by the manufacturer - ie: check all safety pins are in place, check all harnesses lock down, and then depending on the ride - things like track walks to ensure it is free of obstruction and nothing is misplaced, and then running the ride in manual mode, making it do certain things to ensure it operates the way it is supposed to. A safety audit is usually an external person with experience in site safety etc coming in to see that everything that should be in place, is in place - making sure regular maintenance is performed when it is supposed to, and identifying any hazards that exist. This isn't done daily. In a perfect world, daily maintenance and annual refurbs done in house would be all that is required - however - when you do the same thing day in and day out you can get complacent. Safety audits are designed to ensure complacency doesn't happen, by letting a set of fresh eyes into the workspace to see things that people who do it daily might not see. As a little side note - to give you an idea of a 'typical' sort of daily maintenance check, here is the daily maintenance check for the old Bush Beast at Wonderland:2 points

@JeffreyMoore I posted this earlier in another forum but I think is suitable for this form. Keep in mind theme parks plan years in advanced. (5-10 year plans) MW might already be planning their next roller coaster for let's say 6 years in the future. Most likely 2017 and 2018 plans would have been finalised and contracts signed. Remember ride manufacturers want a deposit at least a year + before the ride opens. So if the rumours of a new slide tower at WWW or other changes at DW were planned for next year than they would have been signed and already had deposits paid for. Meaning it's to late to back out without losing a MAJOR deposit. Keep in mind AW paid their deposit and signed the contract for MI3 in September a year in advanced of the ride opening. MW new roller coaster would have been signed of maybe 1-2 years ago.1 point

Yes you are right sorry but i dont class buzzsaw as park of gold rush country because it was added and themed to the area and can remain with a new theme if they do remove the other 3 rides1 point

Panic room is a family attraction? I hate the idea of adding a free spin. It's not at all the 'family friendly' type or attraction suited to Sea World.1 point
-
I like how everyone is liking the idea of a 4D free spin roller coaster yet everyone in America hates six flags for adding them. But its a great idea @Jamberoo Fan and seems like it would be much cheaper than Joz's plan. (His is still Awesome and I wish SW did both) I see this being a more likely path for SW as they are adding a family attraction and a thrill ride/roller coaster. The only other realistic option I see is SW getting a flat ride somewhere else in the park. Unless VRTP want to spend more big bucks on another major roller coaster or expensive development project. Which is still possible but unlikely due to everything happening at and around MW.1 point

The maintenance period wasn't extended for the safety audits. Someone asked MW on Facebook if the safety audits would impact on MW opening to the public and MW responded with this: Given it says VRTP, it is very likely that their response applies to SW too. I think SW's priority should be the removal/replacement of the SW Resort Water Park. Whilst, according to SW, the replacement is to be part of SW Resort, I believe the land should be returned to SW as it suits SW better geographically. This is an idea I developed with SW in mind over the past few days to go in the land linking Castaway Bay with Shark Bay. The general theme of the area is just the open ocean: Beginning at the southern end, the underwater viewing area of Shark Bay is linked to the new area via a tunnel under the road that leads to the SW Monorail maintenance area. The new entrance is via walking into (or near) the mouth of a Great White Shark. The rest of the Great White Shark's body forms part of a statue on ground level - doubling as an entry sign to Shark Bay. It could also include animatronic features in the fins/tail. The main attraction in the area is a S&S - Sansei Technologies 4D Free Spin which I've called Ocean Current. Due to SW Monorail's maintenance track/area causing this whole area (plus Castaway Bay) to be hidden/isolated, a major thrill ride in this area would encourage visitors to find the area. The track would be coloured green/blue/white & a blue sign to the ride is located out the front. Under the Monorail near the Battle Boats station, is a couple of retail outlets - one of which sells ride-on photos to Ocean Current. Next to it, is the SW Monorail maintenance area where the transfer track is connected to the main track. Opposite to the retail outlets, is a timber observation deck which provides a photo opportunity of the Broadwater. In the shallow waters nearby, a recreation of the SW logo is placed (similar to DW's globe) providing a spot to take photos that can be shared through social media. The other main attraction in the area is what I've called Shipwreck. Mostly located beneath ground level, it is a combined escape/panic room & maze. The exterior theming consists of a sinking ship with water pumps recreating the forces water has when a ship sinks. A timber walkway connecting the ship with the land acts as the entrance/exit into the attraction. Once inside the ship, you are put into the escape/panic room. Screens inside the room detail the story before the puzzle begins - you are rich people who are guests on board a ship in rough seas (link to Ocean Current). You encounter a pirate ship (link to Battle Boats) & become locked in a battle with them. Pirates manage to board the ship & the ride attendant (playing the ship's captain etc.) then hides you (because of how rich you are) by locking you in the room. After a brief battle scene, a cannon ball hits your ship and begins to sink. The game then starts where the aim is to evacuate the ship before it sinks. The screens inside the room show the water rising 'outside the windows' (to give an indication of the time you got left) as well as showing the pirates & their ship leaving due to them sinking your ship. When the water reaches the top, small hidden water fountains in the room briefly soak the participants (to recreate water breaching the room) before the ride attendant 'saves you' and leads you into the maze (If you lose the game or depending on how long it took you to finish the puzzle, water effects would operate in the maze too). If you solve the puzzle, you can open the door leading everyone into the maze. The maze essentially looks like the rest of the ship's interior & utilises the effects seen in Young Einstein Gravity Homestead to give you 'sea legs'. The maze represents you evacuating the ship and finding a way out. The end of the maze is the actual ride exit - the timber walkway connecting the ship to the land. Once out, you can then see your time & compare it to other participants. I imagined you can record your time by scanning your park ticket inside the panic/escape room before the puzzle begins as well as at the exit of the attraction. Behind Shipwreck is a plaza where people can sit & eat food from the nearby retail outlets (including the Castaway Bay shops). A stage is placed in front of Shipwreck - doubling it as a background for a show (such as one about pirates or castaways). The plaza acts a place for visitors to view the show (whilst eating too). General entertainment (such as a band or singer or even character meet & greets) can also utilise the stage during non-show times. Happy to hear anyone's opinion on my idea. Please note though that I didn't take into account any financial restraints when developing the ideas.1 point

I don't think every 1-2 year would be finically possible. The first one went from Dec 2008 to Feb 2014. And then the current one went for 2 years before changes were made due to ththe motor bike accident. But I'm glad they got rid of the bikes because those ramps looked so crap and didn't match anything else.1 point

I think they need to fully redevelop the whole set and start from fresh. They could probably keep all the structural elements, as that's where the major costs are, but change the cosmetics of the set so it makes sense, so that your not watching a trailer for a Australian race in a American/Italian town. I really enjoyed the original HWSD, all it needed was some comedic elements and it would've been great. But PASS was just on a whole new level and greatness. I hope in the next two years MW change the stunt show completely, and not have a HSD3. Cars doing stunts is fine, and I really enjoy them at times. But there needs to be a proper story, and bring back some stunt men to really add to the show. And none of this, let's make a movie trailer, and have people come down and do some scenes while everyone just sits there, and then let's watch the trailer at the end while everyone again sits there awkwardly.1 point

Remember Mark's rule of thumb. If an attraction cost lets say 5 million itself. Double it for the total project cost. So it would be 10 million. Also I don't think AW want to buy second hand rides due to their experience with free-fall/inferno.1 point

If what I've heard through my grapevine is anything to go by regarding the park's reopening process, I think you'll find there's a fair bit of truth in what has been posted in the article. Especially the part you've posted, @Jamberoo Fan ?1 point

Also, from The Australian: I believe this article is mostly speculation except the last 2 paragraphs & the fact DW expects to release a statement to the media on Wednesday. The ride they are referring to in the 2nd paragraph is Thunder River Rapids.1 point

Six Flags St Louis was the next park on my trip. The road from Springfield to St Louis essentially runs along the old route 66 (When i checked into my hotel the night before they asked if I was a tourist doing that road) http://www.parkz.com.au/search/photos/location/park-137-Six_Flags_St_Louis Anyway, the park is on the western outskirts of the city. First impressions is that it is a bit of a 2nd tier Six Flags park. Everyone says Six Flags America is the worst but I reckon this one is. At least SFA had better coasters, and notional efforts to maintain distinct themed areas. The whole place just felt a bit run down and weedy, and wasn’t aesthetically pleasing. That all said, there are a few worthwhile attractions at the park, which I’ll get to. I headed straight for Ninja, which has had VR added. Signage said the VR is offered from 2pm, and they had two different queues depending on if you wanted to ride with or without. No objections from me for it being offered from 2pm, the experience on offer was the alien fighter jet one I’d already done at SFMM / (and could have done at SFOG) and it meant I could get my ride in without encumbrance. It’s an arrow looper with a loop and sidewinder, and a couple of corkscrews. Felt a bit RCT with the fixed size of the elements and the first couple of loops being high in the air. Transitions were a bit too sudden for comfort. But overall, like most arrow loopers it wasn’t that bad. The most interesting moment is coming out of the sidewinder when there is a very close headchopper under the lift chain return. Nearby was Batman the ride, which was filling up fast, probably due to being one of the best ride there. No intention of buying a flashpass, so I waited 30 mins or so. It’s much the same as other installations (so quick, forceful, exciting) except more weeds growing underneath. I crossed over the park to a surprisingly short queue on Mr Freeze Reverse Blast. This ride follows that short trend we had where rides had their trains reversed, so like TOT2 you end up looking down towards the ground at the apex of the ride. Basically you launch out of a tunnel, around an inverted top hat, then an overbanked turn and up into a vertical bit of track. LIMs at the top actually grab the train as it starts to lose energy and pull it the rest of the way to the top, but then release and you go back the way you came. A good ride, I wonder why more parks haven’t expanded on this sort of shuttle, with airtime hills etc…it would be amazing. Justice League is a 4D dark ride like our justice league, but with a different storyline, and “spiderman” style vehicles that can tilt and spin. It was a really good attraction. The queue was very similar to ours, except they didn’t have that impressive hall ours does with the marble statues. There’s a few street scenes where you are shooting little lex bots and a near head on with a truck, and eventually you make it into lexcorp where the justice league is being held captive, more shooting and you are released, and from there it turns into an all out street chase with big curved screen. This bit I felt was too fast paced so it didn’t feel realistic. There was also a random black room between two scenes that didn’t make sense…Basically green lantern makes a car jump and you smash into the 2nd floor of an office building, drive through the office then land back on the street…they could have done office interior theming to bridge the gap between screens. I did a lap on the ferris wheel and the train. The train in particular didn’t show off the parks best side :/ Nearby was American Thunder, a GCI. Ran pretty well compared to most, good pacing and a decent length. Boomerang was shut, but I had already ridden it a few years ago at SFOT. River King Mine train is a typical arrow mine train with small drops and awkward transitions. Screamin Eagle is a big out and back wooden coaster. Much like the racing woodies out there, its mostly straight, so it wasn’t too bad, and had good air. The Boss was the final Woodie and coaster for me to ride. The thing is enormous, reminded me a bit of Ghostrider, so a bit rough, but a lot of fun. The first drop was a double down and I didn’t know that beforehand, so a bit of a surprise. Basically the drop dives through a structure, flattens out then goes downhill again. The last part of the ride is an out and back section through some trees along the side of the hill, with a helix for good measure. Fireball is a super loop ride. I’ve never actually been on one of these. It feels a bit cramped, but in terms of ride experience, we’ve all ridden doomsday/ranger/kamikaze right? With everything done I did another go on Mr Freeze, Justice League an American Thunder before heading to my hotel. ******************************************* In St Louis, there’s also the City Museum which is big architectural museum/art gallery/playground in an old shoe factory. The place is immense, and makes you realise how unfit you get as an adult trying to go on play equipment. The place is obviously popular with families, but they have night sessions where they are open till midnight with DJs etc, so a different crowd then. Well worth a look, but don’t wear jeans or else you get stuck on the slides. Heaps of crawl spaces, including really narrow spaces between floor slabs. Other random places are throughout too, such as caves, an aquarium, a giant hamster wheel and so on.1 point

I was lucky enough to visit Universals Studios Japan earlier this year, and got to ride the Flying Dinosaur, which was unlike any roller coaster I've ever been. The experience it gave was unreal. The shows I feel have got worse over the years, The main attraction hsd 2 I feel is worse than ever and often really boring. I definitely liked the more action in the original, so desperately wish they would bring it back, even the cars were better. In the case of the parade, it is getting very repetitive and I don't bother watching it any more as it is quite boring and the lines tend to decrease during this time. I think if they also added evil characters, more than just the joker, (e.g., the ninjas), were added it would be more fun and interesting. Also if they didn't rope off the areas and let the characters roam free it would be much more interactive, although I know the cars moving around would be an issue. The random shows like Catwoman beating police officers and joker pretending to shoot batman and running off are more than pathetic. The catwoman show is so bad and the action is so low with the worst combat I've ever seen, it is so slow, it's like watching them try to tango. The joker one is also ridicule and doesn't show much and leaves an unsatisfying conclusion. I miss the old show with the robbers robbing the bank and batman vs scarecrow, that was such a awsome show with a plot and seeing batman get captured was so awsome, and scarecrow would come up on the screen, the combat was really good and the conclusion was satisfying as well as the simple yet brilliant plot. They definitely need to bring it back or something like it, (hints dc villains show.) Finally the road runner 3D show is still an amazing experience and I have no complaints about it. Although, it's not an actual live show. Anyway, they've slacked on shows as of late and have had really poor plots and conclusions, so I hope they improve and improvise on the area and characters they have avalaible, and produce a better quality show, (theirs also massive room for a Wild West show.)1 point

Its personal speculation for now Im sure once the course of the accident is known dreamworld will be given a plan of what is needed to be done to bring the ride upto date and stop this or any other incidents happening again Im sure it will lead to big $$$ needing to be spent witch is why i feel a decision to not reopen the ride likely As much as i dont wont to lose the ride It would also be the right decision in respect of KATE - LUKE - ROOZBEH & CINDY just my feeling towards all this I dont think i would ever feel 100% rideing it again just knowing these poor soles lost there lives If anyone gets what i am feeling Yes i agree if there are any plans signed off But any future big plans will be far off now i feel As in a replacement for thunder river rapids etc if the ride does not reopen Is what i mean-1 points
