  1. I am really disgusted that this guy is an MP. So much wrong with that letter: Cr Tom Tatt, instead of Tom Tate Apparently the gold coast has a STAINED road network, whereas here we all thought it was just STRAINED "The development application does clearly states" - enough said "With an addition 731 vehicles using..." - perhaps "additional" "other resent developments" -really? how many times were they sent? - Perhaps "recent" would be more appropriate. "I hereby ask that the road network be upgrade as part of the development" - Yes. Be upgrade. Much Wow.

  2. All this talk of "this park announced this and this park announced that"... None of those park are at the centre of an industry that has just suffered a tragic event, not even so sure why people are so desperate for an announcement. It's clear that the ride is under construction so what do we care whether it's announced or not.

  4. Couple of photos from the launch event as shared by TPSN Hope the snow blaster at the entrance is a ongoing component of the nights, and not just for the launch.

  5. Update around GL and the footer in the carpark. Also most of the footings seem to be completed out the front of the park as fresh soil is being poured around them. (Once again, I take a picture the right way but uploads upside down)

  6. Think its about time that they seriously think about relocating Surfrider to Seaworld, as per the original plan. Its compact, and its a great fit for the park as a spiritual succesor to the Pirate Ship.It is also a quick fix to Seaworld's temporary reduction in thrill rides. Make it happen i say!!

  7. To save people clicking through the link.... Possibility of staged restart Dreamworld theme park on Monday Greg Stolz, Lea Emery, The Courier-Mail in 8 minutes DREAMWORLD is set to reopen next week, with owners Ardent Leisure convening a board meeting to finalise plans to get the theme park back on line after the Thunder River Rapids ride disaster. The move to reopen the park following the October 25 tragedy that left four tourists dead comes as the Gold Coast City Council allocated $100,000 towards a summer tourism campaign to help the industry recover. Dreamworld has been closed since the tragedy, amid protracted investigations by police, State Government workplace health and safety inspectors and park-appointed international ride experts. The extended closure has cost the park about $10 million in lost revenue. Police completed their on-site investigation for the State Coroner and handed back the park to Ardent on November 7, but a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland probe has been ongoing as part of a Government audit of theme parks. Inspectors issued 10 breach notices to Dreamworld and sister park WhiteWater World, all related to worker safety. Inspectors returned to the park yesterday to check if the problems had been fixed. Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace said that last Friday the park was “ready to move forward towards reopening”, but that “no amusement ride at Dreamworld will open unless it’s 100 per cent safe”. It’s believed Dreamworld is looking at a staged reopening, possibly starting on Monday. Ardent is expected to detail the reopening plan in a statement to the stock exchange before briefing media. The council contribution, meanwhile, will be matched dollar for dollar by the State Government. The pre-summer campaign will include advertising on television and radio in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and northern New South Wales and online content in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. Gold Coast Tourism members will also offer holidays and deals. A coronial hearing into the tragedy that claimed the lives of NSW woman Cindy Low and Canberra trio Kate Goodchild, her brother Luke Dorsett and his partner Roozi Araghi is expected to be held next year.

  8. I think many members of the public judge a ride based on its capacity. whilst I could understand a 2 hour queue in opening season for a coaster, if it was a 2 hour queue every day 6 months later then I would start to view that ride as poorly operated or designed, therefore dropping my satisfaction in the ride itself.

  10. @TomiJ - I quite liked Uthris' Alpha 3 Renaissance Fair, Silvarret's Grizzly Valley (Alpha 1 he was doing stuff very few could match), and E.A.G.L's Western Park in Beta was quite good. If anyone's struggling with how to build coasters and stay true to the style of the manufacturer, Silvarret has started a series called Coaster College. So far he's done Woodies and Hybrid Woodies. Others are starting to upload their tutorial videos too. Silvarret, Keralis and De-Lady-Signer have started a collaboration, a Polynesian themed park. They share the save file and release a video of their progress one player, one week at a time. AdfoTV, Rudi Rennkamel, Freethebear and Pharohs started a group before them, and have called it Team Schematics. They've released only 2 videos so far.

  12. I realise the public feedback process is required for an MCU, what i'm saying is that given the park does seem to go a long way towards keeping local residents informed of things going on, they may have taken these steps for the locals to keep them on side.

  13. @YLFATEEKS I'm getting this third hand so I don't get authority info etc just the good stuff. It's located between the Hyper Coaster and the Studio Filming Tank facing the highway.

  15. Constrictor was a direct replacement for terror canyon, and Aqualoop was a direct replacement for Twister and Speed Coaster. Twister had two flumes, and so did speed coaster - 4 slides, replaced with 4 aqualoops. You even linked those two together above as you said "Twister/Speedcoaster". As for Constrictor - although only one flume compared to the two terror canyons, it does have a higher capacity, and so, while not completely, does offset most of the impact of terror canyons. So the only removals have had direct replacements. In addition to this, the upcharges were installed - but they ARE ADDITIONS, not replacement attractions, so i think theres a flaw in your reasoning there. You also left out Kamikaze which was installed in 2008 - only one year outside your bracket. Dive N Movies is a loss, but it wasn't really an attraction to lose, simply an additional use of an existing attraction (like whirlpool springs) - the fact that the park doesn't stay open late as much anymore is probably the bigger factor there than simply what they did when they were open late.

  17. Apart from superheroes, I can only think of Godzilla, Sherlock Holmes and the Hobbit movie series that are best known from Warner Bros. So the future will still be DC Comics for rides. For the movie feel of old that Push and others miss from MovieWorld, I think the key is a complete overall of the current stunt show. I would enjoy a more acrobatic style stunt show. There is a movie stunt school on the Gold Coast so surely these people could be utilised. A story like Oceans Eleven series would be interesting and something I would return for.
