  1. I have a philosophy about articulated discourse with people who don't wish to have a healthy conversation that I learnt from an ex-girlfriend, and that is to simply walk away and not waste my time, because i've learnt that for folks who lack the ability to cognitively reason with facts think that a good rebuttal is just someone back-peddling, which in turn re-inforces their own dribble. In your case however @SunshineTom, I will make an exception to walking away from said dribble. In another thread, I spent a great deal of my time absolutely destroying your opinion regarding Tiger Island with tiger conservation facts supported by dozens of independently peer researched studies, and I gave you all the links and access you would need to be enlightened that clearly showed your opinion was at best, complete rubbish. Instead, you chose to ignore what I wrote (which was written specifically for you, just FYI) and peddled some other crap with another Parkz member. Now, again, i've done the same thing in the article I wrote over at OurWorlds. I literally have photos that I took with my own two hands that debunk the sensationalist, sky is falling spam that you and Murdoch seem to get their rocks off on. Multiple people here and even people on the NewsCorp portals have made comments that the journo in question was wrong. In fact, dozens of people, both from the park and abroad have reached out to me over night and continued to support what I wrote and corroborate further recollections and encounters of the park doing well in its current state. So having said all this, and keeping in mind my exception, I say to you, @SunshineTom, eat a bag of dicks. I'm not one to almost ever get emotional or fired up on these forums (atleast not in the past few years) but you my fellow enthusiast are an ignoramus of the highest calibre, the kind who I wrote about, actually. The kind who throws facts and figures in the wind and thinks that Trump will be a great president because "he thinks with his feelings and emotions." I don't speak on the behalf of anyone but myself, but the vibe I continue to get is that you are not welcome here because your biggest contribution to date is senseless negativity. I always welcome critical opinions and thinking, and no one is saying that is not welcome here. In fact, just recently I wrote about the Ekka ride that is now Scooby Doo in another thread in an openly critical way, which didn't seem to land too well with the folks at Movie World. And that sucks, because I didn't bang my drum like you did and shout "MOVIE WOLD IZ DOOMD, THSI IS THE STAT EVRYN," actually, I formed an idea and explained why I reached that conclusion, what I'd do to change that situation etc. etc. and yet, my logical deduction is tossed out the window because everyday parks, outsiders and everyone in between continues to put people like yourself in the same camp as people like me (enthusiasts as a whole), and as a result, to be frank, your crap ruins it for everyone. *drops mic*

  2. You don't say. Part of the reason I don't participate on Parkz anywhere near as much as I used to is because I'm sick of the trolls, particularly the one in question. I don't understand why they *still* haven't been banned, despite their history of being a nuscience and how clearly they are bothering numerous members right now. There is only so much tongue biting one person can do. Last time I failed to do so, I found my post deleted the following morning. I'm over it ?

  3. Just got off Pandemonium after a 25 minute wait and as you can see from this picture of Tiger Island seating area, @SunshineTom you can clearly see DW is in trouble!! So nice to see the Crowds back here in droves today and enjoying the Park. Atmosphere is great and as more rides reopen, it's only going to get better

  8. What is actually wrong with you mate? Like do you need meds? Should you possibly spend some time in a special facility with soft walls? Youre not even a good troll, because a troll gets people to fire up and cause arguments. You are just at the point where everyone just dismisses anything you even say. We really care less, you're just a sad sad person. Literally no one here cares about you whatsoever.

  10. You've replaced garbage with more garbage. Here's one link on how to evaluate credible journal articles. Oh, and here's another. I'm done. Good luck in life with the blinkers on. Thanks everyone by the way for the lovely words & support.

  12. Kudos to @Slick and Ourworlds for this amazing article. Telling it actually like it is, without the fake media spin... http://ourworlds.co/no-dreamworlds-not-really-ghost-town/

  13. Nope... as per our guidelines we don't want these 'mega-threads' anymore. We'll be winding down as many of the 2016 ones we can in the near future. Feel free to start a new thread on any specific Dreamworld topic you want.

  14. Went past the park at around 1pm today, and the carpark was nearly full. Was really great to see. Also, looks like a massive crowd watching the fire machine show tonight (Photo from Stand By Dreamworld)

  15. Ha... just like when he was allegedly "leaving forever" as per his dramatic topic a couple of months ago. That forum exit door must be *really* hard to find, because somehow he ended right back where he bloody started lol ?

  17. if we could afford it we'd have annual passes and be down there right now but money is tough ATM. so as you can see @SunshinePop we are local and we still want to go there.

  18. I'd be more inclined to think that the boats are the weak link in the chain as it were. Most of the ride has been updated/replaced in the past 40 years, the boats haven't. There's only so many times you can patch them up before it's a bad idea to do any more, as it is the boats are way heavier than they used to be, which actually is the biggest cause of downtime for the ride; heavy boats not making it over the top break. It also means the capacity of the boats has effectively been reduced from 4 adults to 2 or 3 adults as well as a kid or 2.

  19. Honestly why does it even matter that much? Clearly you care way too much about how Dreamworld are doing. I'll give you a rundown just incase you missed it; They have support from people, they are missing support from others. this is expected because obviously there was a fatal accident at the park. The main thrill rides are not yet open, what difference does it make whether or not there are full crowds at the park? It doesn't affect you in the slightest, we are trying to support Dreamworld as they have given us happiness throughout the years. Of course with 4 out of 9 thrill rides open there will be a decline in customers. However, they are doing everything they can. You are entitled to do anything you like, whether that be analysis of the carpark of whatever you have to do. Just stop trying to diminish the support they have.

  20. Well clearly this is either photoshopped or we've just found what the DreamWorld staff who would normally be operating the closed part of the park are up to Really - a negative vote?? Do people not recognize sarcasm any more??

  21. Last week the crowds at WNW and MW were insane, WNW carpark was overflowing, and MW was nearly full. Rides at MW had queues up to 2hrs. Quiet the last couple of days due to NYD and the rain we've had, but would say it will pick up again from today.

  22. I have some friends visiting so 7 of us going to DW and WWW again today - with the crazy crowds at MW and WnW it was the obvious choice. I'll report back briefly on my visit late tonight after Fire Machine?

  23. Yeah, insurance costs. But 5 of the 9 thrill rides plus a few family rides haven't operated at all - operating costs and staffing costs would be right down at the moment, and that's just one example of how things have changed. There are countless factors you haven't taken into account, and you cannot say for certain that Dreamworld's costs or profits hadn't already drastically changed before the accident. Stop pretending to be a financial expert just because you know how to divide by 3. You're just being overwhelmingly negative, and you have been this whole time. Honestly, it's almost as if you WANT Dreamworld to shut down, because it's all you talk about. What is this? We're not a political forum, we're here because we love theme parks. You're the one constantly moping around about how Dreamworld will never reopen. Seriously, I don't think there's one moment in this thread you've said "Gee, I'm glad BuzzSaw reopened" or anything positive at all. Grow up.

  24. Someone asked DW on FB when the store would be open, and they said they are aiming for a late January opening.

  25. @SunshineTom you realise you are on a theme park enthusiast website. Yet you come here to bag theme parks. Of course this is not going to end well. (for you)

  26. It's sad we don't have people like @Slick writing articles like these for the big media companies. It tells the last week from the perspective of an actual visitor to the park and delivering 100% fact with no urge to get clickbait, without the Murdoch press twisting it to be an otherwise fake article dependent on clickbait. I don't read OurWorlds much, but this time I read the article and it tells much more facts than a comparable Murdoch/Packer/Fairfax article. Well done @Slick.

  27. @POP I fail to understand how you get your jollys out of dissing an iconic and much loved Aussie brand purely for the sake of getting attention through contempt and utter distain from everyone other than your own alter egos! By continuing to only contribute mindless negativity you are showing everyone what a complete and utter unit you are, over and over again!! C'mon mate it's a new year so how's about turning that frown upside down and say something positive for once?
    1 point
  28. I know lots. But fear mongering gets us no where. Contrary to popular belief, the park's actually been doing solid numbers. Not peak season numbers, nor did anyone nor should anyone expect those kinds of numbers, particularly when over half of the major thrill rides are closed. However, the last time I went, this is what the park looked like... But you're right, doom & gloom sell much more adspace then positive happy stories do.

  29. I was at Dreamworld yesterday and can report the park had a great attendance. I arrived at 530pm. For those who like carpark reports it was 85% full with people still arriving. You didn't have to go far to find a crowds of people on rides and at the entertainment performances. I saw the beatbox show twice last year and noticed the crowd was larger for the fire machine show last night. Dreamworld do seem to be putting guests first as they moved the fire machine show starting time to 7pm so guests could experience it before the rain started. I am not concerned about the newspaper report. Dreamworld has only been open for a couple of weeks so of course their attendance is down. Also holiday makers have just started to arrive on the Gold Coast after Christmas. it is not just the parks but the whole of the Gold Coast that has been quiet, just like every other year up till now. So while the trolls are stuck in doors righting their negative views, I will continue visiting the parks I enjoy and support.

  30. There's been so much talk about this on this forum both before and after the TRRR incident. We could go back to Gazza's coaster, or more recently, ideas raised since February include: a Rainforest theme ( @Life ? ) a new Mountain/Mine theme cart ride/runaway train/spinner mouse/RMC Hybrid all suggested (a large number of members) Spinning Coaster ( @Santa07) Drunken Barrels as an extenstion to Gold Rush ( @Slick) A Saloon (Me) Dark/Sinister area (you, @joz, before the accident) Dark Ride (track or water - many members)

  32. The point he is making is that if you do a spit spur, then you permanently lock in a situation where the best available frequency to each branch is every 6 mins (a tram every 6 mins from the spit, plus a tram every 6 mins from helensvale = a tram every 3 mins south of the junction to the southern end of the line. (A tram every 3 mins being the physical limit of the system) The issue though is that in say a decades time, only having a tram available every 6 mins on the Helensvale branch would be insufficient to deal with passenger loads. See here for an good explanation of the dynamics of serving a rail line that branches: http://humantransit.org/2011/02/basics-branching-or-how-transit-is-like-a-river.html

  33. Today the World was shocked by the loss of another Musical Legend. Early tonight I find two minutes to relax, only to find Australia's favourite Dark ride Rollercoaster has been Raped and left to live on in a pathetic shadow of it's former self.? Right now I could fill paragraphs with frustration on the matter, what will that do? Sadly, about as much as pissed off Park goers I guess. Nonetheless I am still in shock from this. Presently MW is on top with no competition. What really fucks me off is the way they are responding to that fact.

  34. It's also the same publication that took a story from UQ Stalkerspace (which is essentially the uni's meme page for those who don't know of it - pretty much everything that gets posted there is someone trolling or just a stupid meme). Since then I lost any belief of what the Dail Mail says.

  35. Wow... What a special person... A click bait article about how a theme park was dead on BOXING DAY, when 20 million people decided to line up at the shopping centre from 6am... Parks were the same last year and will be every year.

  40. Anyway...back on topic. I've done a projection that they are currently losing 3 million a month. Add that to the 10 million they lost in the 6 weeks they were closed and you have a theme park in serious trouble. Could be bust and closed within 18 months.

  42. New article: Inside Dreamworld's summer of sadness. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4086396/Dreamworld-s-summer-sadness-four-people-died-ride-tragedy-Gold-Coast-theme-park.html note this is a major publication and not owned by Murdoch.

  43. You know what? I've had it with the delusional denialists who think they speak for the general public when it comes to attitude towards Dreamworld. You are theme park enthusiasts, a niche community and a very small one. Most people go to a theme park once a year at the most. You can bet that that once a year trip will be spent elsewhere in the near future judging by the comments on the Daily Mail article today. Notice the upvotes/downvotes ratio - quite stark to the ones dished out here. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4086396/Dreamworld-s-summer-sadness-four-people-died-ride-tragedy-Gold-Coast-theme-park.html#reader-comments Once again, i'm not trolling, merely publishing the inconvenient truth on a board of people who don't wish to hear such stuff due to the bubbles they live in.
