I've seen a lot of sensationalist media stories over time but that takes the cake. Road Runner Rollercoaster stopping might have upset some of the children unlucky enough to be on that particular cycle of the ride but it is only a family rollercoaster that was working as it was designed to. 7 News is starting to get a reputation with over-sensationalist stories & I've lost faith in their journalism as a result of this story. At this rate, 7 News will report on when a carousel refuses to spin or when a bumper car uncontrollably spins in circles. If anyone wants to complain about the story, I think you can by using this feedback form. 7 News has to be very careful that they don't cripple the theme park industry on the Gold Coast any further given these types of stories are only being shown on the local news and not the news of interstate locations as the local Gold Coast community is, to my understanding, the main market of the Gold Coast theme parks - not interstate/international visitors - but I'm sure most of the Gold Coast residents know that a stoppage like this is normal & will continue to visit the theme parks.1 point

You with your correct reading is staring to piss me off. Please refer to everybody hates @reanimated35 topic. Being bleaches, I believe will only be pulled out when super busy.1 point

ToT could be rethemed to a tiger running up a tree from TI. Giant Drop could be changed to you falling from said tree.1 point

It would make absolutely no sense to me if the park was anywhere near as busy as usual. Why would anyone expect it to be? Two major rides are permanently closed and plenty of others are still down for safety checks. The park is a fraction of its former self, for now.1 point

They actually have a fair bit to gain from it. Saying you have a new themed land is a major draw card. It also has the benefit of removing the bad image of the area. Plus it needs big changes anyway, so it wouldn't really be that different to adding replacements and keeping the theme.1 point

I know it will never happen, but for the UTT, utilise the kids area again:1 point

If we're being accurate i'm pretty sure it's "Swampside Precinct".1 point

You're unbelievably grossly misinformed. Query me this, if you were a poor Sumatran gentleman and one of the world's most endangered mammals was risking the life of your workers, what do you do? Call RSPCA while thumbing through new shows on Netflix? Nope, because you're poor and you have literally no options beyond killing the thing because that's the way the world is when you're poor. Furthering this, if the reason why the tiger is there in the first place is because of deforestation because of palm oil crops, growing populations etc. etc. etc. how do you fix that without pissing people off who are trying to survive and feed their kids? And if people are actively killing these animals for alleged medicinal purposes, how do you stop that from happening too? And to top it all off, how do you actually breed enough tigers to offset all of this to stop them from going extinct while you're trying to fix all the above? Let me be direct. You need great people and you need money. And a lot of it. And thank god for the amazing folks at Tiger Island, 21st Century Tiger and DWF who not only forward on 100% of donations to protecting tigers in the wild (which is spent sending teams over there and working in the community directly) but also work with many reputable international zoos as part of a large scale breeding program to go from "will definitely go extinct in the wild" to "oh wow, there's tigers in the wild again, and they're not suffering either, win!" But you're right, giving the tigers at Tiger Island an improved space to exist whilst continuing to educate the general public which then in turns drives awareness and more donations is a terrible "debacle" as you put it. We don't live in a black and white world mate where you can just throw animals into the wild and tell the locals not to kill them because it's bad. I'd also love to live in a world where every one of those tigers is back in the wild because none of them are being threatened. Sadly, neither of us live in those world, and if you'd like to live in that world someday, you should jump on the train and support those who are doing something about instead of being part of the almost satirically ironic position you put yourself into by being all for animals and hating on organisations who are making a genuine difference. Still don't believe me? Here's literally dozens of academic papers for you to read that support every word i've said above.1 point

I think the CEO of Mack actually mentioned in an interview recently something along the lines of "we're building a similar (or custom?) hyper in Australia." Something from IAAPA. Anyone got the reference? Definitely second this. It's not Disney, but just because a car isn't a Ferrari doesn't mean it's crap either. I think it's been given the love that it deserves. It's definitely a local icon, if not a national one, and the look and feel of the place matched with the grandstand seating is befitting that title. Also, it has Kirin beer on tap, what's not to love? Sad that Movie World will have two world class coasters soon and Dreamworld will have... yeah.1 point

Nah, they're leaving the theme park business. Rumour has it the site will become "The Greatest Churro Factory The Southern Hemisphere Has Ever Seen".1 point

And here I was thinking they were footers for the world's largest Dippin' Dots store.....1 point

I'm gonna throw if out there - anyone reckon it's time MW updated its entry sign as you drive in? i know it's been there forever, but I reckon especially with the new coaster going in along the entrance driveway they could go out and get a nice shiny new one, maybe with some LT/DC characters on it. Use the same styled pillars that are going in, a 3D element as opposed to just a plain printed thing you could order these days off Vistaprint. Couple of design ideas i Wouldn't mind seeing...1 point

Yeah, but it's not like it's just the ride plonked there on its own, it has a themed precinct to tie it into.1 point

^ or could it be the possibility that the Vintage cars are an 'in house' attraction and therefore slated for removal?0 points

I'd be more inclined to believe that it's simply to immediately address the current circumstances, and avoid any obvious insensitivities, since the ride's original backstory is about the ride being haunted by a ghost/poltergeist (and the fact it sits virtually back to back with TRR). Same reason they no longer play the Jack Darke audio effects/commentary, and have removed the coffin and undertaker wagon props from outside Eureka. Leaving anything like that post incident would be seen as very poor taste. I don't think it's any indication that a theme change is coming, just stripping back the current one appropriately. That said, there's no reason why they can't keep the ride themed the way it is without the back story. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that the circular shape of the track resembles a buzzsaw blade anyway, so I don't think people would question it anyway. No more than people not questioning the Wipeout being themed to a giant wave without an explanation as to why. Just my 2c.0 points
