  1. I've heard you guys talking about how nice the staff are being since Dreamworld's reopening, but I still wasn't expecting what I saw yesterday. Probably one of the best days out I've ever had at a theme park. I was there from around 9:45 until just after Fire Machine, and had a great day. Had time to do just about everything, even a full lap on Dreamworld Express (which was depressing, as it provided a morbid view of the dormant RHLR), time spent at Corroboree, Tiger Island, and still rode all my favourites 4-5 times. I barely even noticed that three of the thrill rides were closed. Car park was probably 60-70% full, but only 40-50% earlier in the day. Fire Machine was beyond spectacular, and the staff were INCREDIBLE. Going out of their way to help at all times - it was a hot day, so the ToT operators allowed us to queue at the air-conditioned hallways, and walked the rest of the queue to collect carriage loads themselves. The "Fun Patrol", the staff recognising people when they returned to rides, the welcoming attitudes and friendly hellos - getting a sticker for nailing it on Tail Spin summed it up for me - all capped off by a friendly goodbye and "thank you so much for visiting" as we left. Plus, this was my first time at WhiteWater World, which was great, so it was pretty much the best day ever for me. Kudos to Dreamworld.

  2. The forum has a feature which prevents people from editing and deleting posts, which stops people deleting or changing posts after other people have responded to it. It used to happen a lot where someone would get into a debate, and then delete all their comments rendering large parts of a thread unreadable. It also has the affect of making people think twice before they post. People who buy merch are allowed the feature because we figure if you're serious enough about this hobby to buy merch, you probably aren't here to cause trouble. I totally get that it's annoying feature not to have, but we've not hid it behind a paywall to be dicks - there is a method to it. Also double posting really isn't that big a deal if it's not done ALL the time and there's a decent time gap between the posts. Have a fantastic Parkz day! ??

  3. Yeah I'm glad someone finally said it. After going to a couple of events one last week one this week I was starting to think I was going to a different event than other people. Sea World is a park full of massive potential and possibilities. Carnival manages to use none of it. Heres what they should do for Carnival next year; Take it back to Movie World during off peak periods, as it has no business being at Sea World in the peak season. What would work well at Sea World though would be to take the entire budget of Carnival, open the park till 8, and have a decent sized show on the main lake at closing time, and include it with admission, and a couple of bands around the place.

  4. Why wouldn't they just restore the scooby doo theme then? Beats wasting time designing a new theme when the old ride was fine. I disagree with people who think the Scooby Doo brand is dead. It's just as alive, if not more alive, than the Looney Tunes branding that exists all over the park in different capacities. There's this terrible thing that older people do which is assume that generations below them don't know anything about the past. I'll probably be guilty of it in the future but for now I'll have a whinge about it. It's like that terrible joke that public speakers do all the time, they showcase a floppy disc or a cassette tape or a record player and say, "Now, the younger people in the audience probably have no idea what this is," thinking they've just created an inside joke with the oldies when in fact they've just insulted half of the audience's intelligence. I've lost count of how many times I've heard this, but I haven't lost count of the amount of times I've found it funny: zero. Anyway, even if the brand was dead, I don't think that's grounds to retheme the ride, kids are still going to enjoy it even if they don't know who the characters are. I know pretty much nothing of Justice League, but that doesn't ruin the theming experience for me. The same could be said for Wild West Falls, where the characters (afaik) are only on that ride.

  5. Hey @jake_hunt you should copy and paste that straight onto DW Facebook, they are loving this kind of feedback and are passing it onto the Staff to help keep the great momentum going! Such a great report mate I am thrilled to hear they are doing everything to put their best foot forward and winning with smiles?

  10. So my thoughts after tonight... im gonna buck the trend and say I prefer the event at MW... (sorry guys) * I think the lack of a parade makes the event suffer. Carnivale, by nature of the name, is an event that is quintessentially organised around a parade. * the food options were limited compared to previous years. (No millionaire bacon, loaded fries, New York pizza, seafood boil up etc) The fact you couldn't buy chicken nuggets or tenders anywhere in the park for kids is ridiculous. Only selling fish burgers and fish bites at the usual food outlet is a waste * the lack of a parade meant there was no 'major event' to draw crowds away from rides, and the lack of adult/teen ride options added to that. People congregated at tables and just stayed there as there was little to move off and do from the undercover area. * In Stereo (who?) were clearly no drawcard, if anything the ride queues got bigger whilst they played * no roving entertainment, all squished into the one area * the live music under the roof was ok, but apart from one song had nothing to do with the Carnivale theme, which was originally designed as a kudos to the New Orleans/Brazilian events. Singing 'Cheerleader' and Katy Perry songs are relative to neither. I guess I'd be more complimentary of the event if it wasn't at the expense of MW's Carnivale, which I've loved. This is a differnt event and I like the idea of SW having a night event, but leave Carnivale at MW and create a new identity for this... Sounds by the Sea, Fiesta by the Sea, I dunno, but separate them..

  13. If MW were to re-theme the ride, as much as they don't need another DC ride, I recon it would suit a "Jokers Funhouse" kinda theme. Even the trains wouldn't look too out of place with a theme like that.

  14. Had my first visit to Cirque Extreme today. What a fantastic show. I went in with lowish expectations but came out really impressed. I'd certainly recommend it to all who visit AW during January. As for the rest of the day, the park was quite full early on. The queues were sizeable right from 10am which for me was a bit unusual. I wonder if the opening temp of 35c encouraged an early turnout, especially as it was 27c by 3pm. While it was a day for water rides, I must mention the Japanese gentleman in the front row of the Abyss. I've never seen anyone go quite so bananas on that ride and have no idea what he was saying.

  16. I will apologize for that I will admit I got a little cranky, with other people not you and I just took it out on that post. Lucky I could edit this still, as I made a massive mistake that gave it a completely different meaning.

  17. I agree with that, but you downvoted my post. I didn't down vote yours. You can't say 'people down vote stuff they disagree with rather than the quality and that's wrong!' and straight away downvote something you disagree with. I got no beef with you man, I often agree with stuff you say. This isn't one of those times to be sure but I don't dislike you for it. I've put the case forward why it's done a certain way. You make fine points in response, some I agree with, some I don't but it's a balancing act. No matter where the line is it'll always be an issue. Again, no disrespect, we just disagree. I promise when you open your forums I won't complain about to little control over edits

  18. Yes having that is all and good when someone responds the only response after his was his own post. I have seen many forums with this implemented. But no where is it as intrusive as this and judging from what I have seen it really doesn't seem to be doing any good. Easy was to stop people changing what they should it be controversial is the either have a edit history for posts or even simply quoting them when they do something controversial. Like is it so hard to quote someone when your are responding to a post. The person can even completely delete their posts and yet you can easily follow what happened. There are so many ways to tackle this issue. Just making people really think over their posts doesn't really work as most of the time it is not the content which needs to be changed is is basic spelling and grammar. Or even adding links which might not be available. It would allow threads to be more organised and therefore meaning you can easily follow the thread, instead of it being broken over multiple posts. Also to add to what others have said before this reputation system is horrible. It does nothing but act as a popularity contest. It is meant to be a system for quality of posts. Not a system where you vote on the persons view. There is nothing quality wrong with these posts. Yet they get down voted as they are against the general accepted opinion on these forums.

  20. Thanks for the fantastic trip report Strop- brilliant!! Great to see a visit to Aussie World - a park that does not come up that often here on the boards. Good to see the pics on the new changes and how the park is evolving. I am really glad that this did NOT become Wet and Wild as was originally planned a few years ago. I agree 100% with you. It was EXTREMELY sad and distressing to see such a proud ride with such history being relegated to a scrapheap like that. Whatever the motivation, or the practicality around its demise, that simply cannot temper the loss of such an iconic, important and historical ride. Looking forward to when Aussie World installs their new Spinning Mouse and Swinging Pendulum rides hopefully in the first half of this year. The park will certainly be one to keep an eye on as plans for the further 3 rides that have been forecast come to fruition. Exciting times for Aussie World!

  21. So it works a family ride and kids love it, sure. But ask those kids do they prefer it over SDSC, Roadrunner and Escape From Madagascar and I'd be interested to hear what they think.

  24. What is actually wrong with you mate? Like do you need meds? Should you possibly spend some time in a special facility with soft walls? Youre not even a good troll, because a troll gets people to fire up and cause arguments. You are just at the point where everyone just dismisses anything you even say. We really care less, you're just a sad sad person. Literally no one here cares about you whatsoever.

  26. Sorry but where was it stated that they would be building in the area marked Area A above? I would have thought it more likely that they end up building the TopGolf building and range roughly in the area marked B above and build the carpark in the area marked C. From my understanding the rollercoaster turns back towards the station before the east-west fence to the north of C above and so perhaps they will have the carpark somewhat extending to the north of this fence. I'd imagine this area is currently being used as an entry and egress point to the rollercoaster construction site hence why they wouldn't have fenced it off. The end result would look like the rough picture below with the TopGolf building and range in red and the carpark shaded in yellow. Area D is the area currently unfenced to the north of Area C that would also become part of the carpark (perhaps with a support or two within it...)

  27. I see what you did there! Actually the carpark to the west (as can be seen in images from nearmap) had a temporary film set constructed on it With absolutely no insider knowledge whatsoever, my prediction is that Reanimated's version of events is correct, and BBF is completely wrong and should probably take the hint.

  29. OK I will change it. The forum has a stupid feature that does nothing but lower the quality of posts. That really should not be something behind a pay wall. He added that comment a hour after he posted the first post, that is not enough time to allow for edits. A day or two is fine, less then a hour is just ridiculous.
