I didn't think the thread suggested that it was meant to be impartial - i took it just as 'what's your top 10?' I haven't really contributed to this either mainly because i don't really consider our coasters in a 'ranking' situation - i appreciate each for what they are - although when a direct coaster to coaster comparison is made - i can always see which one i'd prefer, i don't think it would translate to a definitive top ten.2 points

They may be very similar speed-wise, but RRRC unarguably uses its speed better. When I've ridden EFM I can never get out of my head the thought of how slow it is, however I never have this problem with RRRC. It still puts a smile on my face, especially in the back row over the crest of the lift hill. EFM is probably better at being a kiddie coaster, because it really offers little thrill over simply being on a coaster, something you want in order not to frighten the hell out of little ones. It's also a good way of introducing kids to the concept of suspended coasters, it'd make more sense if DW had another suspended coaster in the park. RRRC is a much better coaster from a thrilling perspective, it's a really good way of tricking a kid into getting on a ride that I'd honestly put just under moderate on the low/moderate/extreme rating system, it's almost evil how thrilling it is, I really think it's a hidden piece of genius coaster design. It spits into the face of MDMC and leaves in the dust. As for theming, people are being too harsh on EFM, the queue is well themed, and there are characters and crates scattered around under the ride, the area/gardens around it are nicely maintained as well. RRRC still wins out on theming, it's your typical movie set sort of backdrop with terrain that the coaster interacts with, as well as having the famous characters, and items like the ACME products and TNT scattered around. Completely immersive and fits perfectly well in the area. I think rating them on a kiddie coaster scale, I'd give RRRC a 10/10, and EFM a 7/10.1 point

Rode it Sunday and would say it seemed about the same as before.1 point

This was the machine digging the holes (Blue machine and Photo from Coaster site), and couldn't tell how far a part they were, because I didn't go up to the fence to see. Could just see from WNW carpark that it was being used.1 point

Do they have a slide that makes you skinnier too? I'll ride that one all day long...1 point
-
Just been on the slide, and didn't get scratched by the slide as someone mentioned people were. Mats were even lighter than the ones before, and was great to see they had also finally done something about the stairs so there weren't gaps or slime on some. New timing/position system was also really good.1 point

Even more machinery now on site, with diggers renoving the remaining trees and soil from the site. Large holes are also being dug along the side nearest to the film tank.1 point

There are a number of workmen on the top of the lift hill, both in the stair well and on top of the actual track. With a massive crane on site, as the harness for them. Been there for at least a couple of hours now.1 point

in a statistical analysis and taking into account the subjective nature of opinion from one person - those two figures are close enough to call them a draw. it's not sportsball after all. If I were to use the same scoring system: Road runner rollercoaster Escape from Madagascar Theming 7/10 6/10 Speed 5/10 5/10 Height 4/10 5/10 Layout 5/10 6/10 (extra point for suspended) Train 6/10 8/10 Capacity 8/10 8/10 Re-ride 7/10 9/10 As far as theming - i agree RRRC is better, but i don't consider it to be as wonderfully drastically different as others have said. Both have middle-of-the-road speeds, and score accordingly - they aren't meant to be mindblowingly fast, and they do the job they are supposed to do wonderfully. Height - likewise to skeet's score EFM just tips the scale Although both have the same layout, EFM takes the extra point for being suspended. Consider the boomerang vs. the inverted boomerang (and yes, i realise there is a layout difference with the inverted having a crossover) - although both are technically the same layout (reverse lift, drop, station, boomerang, loop, lift, reverse order repeat) the inverted boomerang looks, rides, feels different, simply from riding on the other side of the track. I scored the train as such because i find the EFM seat and harness perfectly comfortable. I frequently bash the shit out of my knees on RRRC, and find it to be a bit of a squeeze to ride two adults side by side. I have minimal views on capacity - both rides take a similar amount of time to ride, load and unload. I've seen DW allow the next group to enter the ride area before the previous group has exited the gates, which IMO is a much more efficient load method. RRRC suffers the interminable operations procedures that MW has across the board. My memory is fuzzy on this point, but i feel like EFM also has gates per row, rather than single gate for the entire train, which I feel is also a plus (but acknowlege i could be wrong her e- couldn't find a picture of it). Re-ride - I have had the opportunity (at the dreamworks launch nite for passholders) to ride, and re-ride EFM for almost a solid hour, and it was thoroughly enjoyable (the operator was also a contributing factor to the enjoyment, as was riding at night). I've rarely if ever chosen to ride RRRC, except when hosting family with smaller kids who want to go on it. this is of course completely one sided, but it is opinion, and it's my opinion, so i consider EFM rates higher here. That leaves me with RRRC-42 and EFM-47. considering the point differences between them though, they're all fairly closely and evenly matched, and it will always come down to personal preference on these few issues where the factor is based on opinion.1 point

LOL that funny. The scores don't lie. Looks like RRRC is my winner after all. But wait! I also gave 1 point to EOM for fitting into the kids area better. Looks like we are back to a draw. “Much more thinking is required to separate. I winner must be had.” (Make sure you read the last bit in a Yoda voice otherwise it doesn’t make sense. I did the voice as I typed).1 point

^Exactly, something like AA is understandable to report, but it's they way they portray it and the wording they use to make it sound like it's worse than what it is. But I suppose that's what I media does. It is just the reports like RR, WWF and GL that annoy me because they happen daily, so why the need to report on them and scare people. I imagine that it's park guests that see this, and contact the media telling them about it, when they themselves don't realise it's something that occurs often. Those people probably only visit the parks once every year or so, and don't know what them all, while we who visit more often know it happens, and is supposed too. If the rides never broke down or stopped for safety reasons I'd probably be more concerned.1 point

You mean @Bussy (aka Wonderbus2003) - he pops his head in every now and again - I think his last visit was quite recent actually - November 3 2016 - to weigh in on the TRRR incident (as he was an operator of Snowy River Rampage at Wonderland)... With him, @Daniel, and even good old shifty @Nightshifter - gee those were the days!1 point

Well... I severely underestimated the mountain the media could make out of this molehill, but the stupidity of the people commenting is even worse. If I were the parks, or the industry right now, i'd be looking at what legal options there are to get the media to provide some sort of corrections - perhaps running a story on ACA or TT where engineers, safety auditors, ride manufacturers and park operators talk about these sorts of incidents - why it proves they're safe, why it's normal day-to-day stuff. But - when you see just how fucking pathetic they can be over a white shirt - it's no wonder they're pushing this sensationalistic garbage for ratings and clicks.1 point

Just noticed on DW's updated park map that they have re-coloured the pathways of Town Of Gold Rush from the green of Main Street back to red. Also, I like DW's new front cover of the park map - it really makes it look like you are going on a journey of discovery with the unique use of the DW Globe:1 point

And there you go. Nine news with breaking news that wwf has broken down. See this shit is getting so bad. They are ruining themeparks in aus. So much bad publicity against them. Most of us have been on rides where they break down. Its just now as soon as it happens some 'smart' rider etc has to share it straight away to a news outlet1 point

That's one big bee... Average honeybee length (L) is 15mm... His tackle (T) is average 1/4mm... So L = 60T... You are saying T = 3 feet... 60x3 = 180 feet...1 point

I don't know about you @Original but I prefer my coasters to lose their speed when they hit the brakes...1 point

Hey @jake_hunt you should copy and paste that straight onto DW Facebook, they are loving this kind of feedback and are passing it onto the Staff to help keep the great momentum going! Such a great report mate I am thrilled to hear they are doing everything to put their best foot forward and winning with smiles?1 point

I've heard you guys talking about how nice the staff are being since Dreamworld's reopening, but I still wasn't expecting what I saw yesterday. Probably one of the best days out I've ever had at a theme park. I was there from around 9:45 until just after Fire Machine, and had a great day. Had time to do just about everything, even a full lap on Dreamworld Express (which was depressing, as it provided a morbid view of the dormant RHLR), time spent at Corroboree, Tiger Island, and still rode all my favourites 4-5 times. I barely even noticed that three of the thrill rides were closed. Car park was probably 60-70% full, but only 40-50% earlier in the day. Fire Machine was beyond spectacular, and the staff were INCREDIBLE. Going out of their way to help at all times - it was a hot day, so the ToT operators allowed us to queue at the air-conditioned hallways, and walked the rest of the queue to collect carriage loads themselves. The "Fun Patrol", the staff recognising people when they returned to rides, the welcoming attitudes and friendly hellos - getting a sticker for nailing it on Tail Spin summed it up for me - all capped off by a friendly goodbye and "thank you so much for visiting" as we left. Plus, this was my first time at WhiteWater World, which was great, so it was pretty much the best day ever for me. Kudos to Dreamworld.1 point

Yeah I'm glad someone finally said it. After going to a couple of events one last week one this week I was starting to think I was going to a different event than other people. Sea World is a park full of massive potential and possibilities. Carnival manages to use none of it. Heres what they should do for Carnival next year; Take it back to Movie World during off peak periods, as it has no business being at Sea World in the peak season. What would work well at Sea World though would be to take the entire budget of Carnival, open the park till 8, and have a decent sized show on the main lake at closing time, and include it with admission, and a couple of bands around the place.1 point

Gotta love having my topic called dumb! Yay Parkz forum! Seriously I searched like half a dozen permutations of the title of this thread to look for something similar but I guess I missed the many posts like this before? Whatever, I'm drunk right now so if this is a seriously egregious forum topic than delete it, I was just trying to make conversation.1 point
