You can even see the site when riding SE. When I went on it towards the end of last year, not long after those footings were installed, I thought the same as you @xRazzBerryx. Makes the most sense from seeing the footings1 point

Sorry if this is unclear or confusing, but looking at the photos of the site, I couldn't help feeling that a helix similar to the one ending Goliath at Walibi holland fits perfectly in the space that has been cleared. I also looked closer at the footers seen clearly and could kind of make out the shape of a helix? Sorry YLFATEEKS if this post is weird and confusing.1 point

People are dumb. I was in the middle of writing this huge "worry about credibility in journalism in the fake news age" opinion piece, then hit command+a and just started again to keep it simple. There's no more prestigious journalistic institutions and no more encyclopaedias on CD's or in books that hold all the facts and information to the world. Freedom of and to information in the digital age has opened up an equalised platform both correct and incorrect information, and the fact that society still can't pick the good from the bad scares the shit out of me, because it's so easy today to put your fingers in your ears and pretend that climate change isn't real, Trump is a cool dude or in this case, that Sea World harms animals. @joz said it best in this thread & I blasted @POP in another thread about Tiger Island not too long ago. Point is, watching one documentary on how a park overseas treats a specific animal that's related to a park here in name only and thus think everyone's evil, well, you're an idiot. Open your mind. Check the facts from both sides. Do some research. Check the citations and see where the general or scientific consensus lies.1 point

^Just to clarify. I didn't start this thread, it was split out of a line of conversation in the 2017 Movie World Coaster thread. So a bit of the context is lost. Some hyperbole in my "opininion", and if I'd known how seriously people take Dreamworld I would chosen another punishment for breaching the law discussed in the new MW Coaster thread.1 point

Well here it is, freshly cut grass. And it now really shows the huge amount of footings there are.1 point

I'd like to take a moment to thank these protesters. Thank you for purchasing a ticket and thereby supporting the park you claim to hate. I'm glad your money will go towards ensuring the continued safety and well-being of these Dolphins at Sea World.1 point

I knew it was only a matter of time. Hope Sea World are able to take suitably strong action against these scum that it ensures they stay away from the park in future. Having said this, I do find it strange that such people don't seem to have any real issues with the animals "held in captivity" at such parks as Dreamworld, Paradise Country, Australia Zoo etc. They also don't seem too bothered about the many other animals "abused" by Sea World. Just singling out Dolphins. Nor do they protest (at least to any noticeable extent) against people keeping animals "captive" as pets. Think of all those poor "abused" dogs and cats, for example! I wonder if any of these losers actually have jobs, or even hobbies (apart from that of interrupting harmless family entertainment to draw attention to themselves). If they genuinely care as much as they claim to about animal welfare, they could start by volunteering with the animal welfare league, RSPCA or similar. Then again, I very much doubt any decent organisation would accept them!1 point

This isn't a topic of when did it stop going higher, it's a matter of why doesn't it go higher now. Youll note Magic Mountains ride was also falling short. Investments were made to rejuvenate the ride to get it running at its peak (think of an old car needing upgrades). But speeding up the ride for DW is not an option as mentioned above. Also let me tell you turning the car around and running it backwards will give you a far greater ROI than saying 'hey it's going a bit higher again now' Cause outside of this little group hardly anyone would care.1 point

I don't want to make any sort of personal commentary on this however I do need to say the like "if they are well enough to be in shows they can be released into the wild" is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. It shows these people who claim to have the best interests of these animals as their concern really know little to nothing about them.1 point

Yeah there are two types of people who like animals. There are the people who are passionate about animal welfare and become vets, biologists, trainers, park rangers. There are people who spend a lifetime getting to know animals inside and out and do everything they can to protect them and raise awareness about actual environmental issues. Then, there are people like this, who make placards and protest what the other lot are doing. They only make one claim in their article, that because they do 'demeaning tricks' they are healthy enough to be released. Yeah, fit for release has to do with their survival prospects, not how fast they can swim. It has to do with life skills and natural instinct. Most of the animals at Sea World were captive born, they have no experience with the wild. Those that weren't born at Sea World are either rescues (and hot tip, if they think they'll survive in the wild they release them. That's a parks an wildlife decision too not a Sea World decision) and those that were wild born are now so old that they're past the life expectancy for wild Dolphins. It's worth noting that not all the dolphins at Sea World are used in shows, in fact the vast majority are not. Dolphins also when they get older, they do 'retire' from shows and get to live a leisurely life. Also worth noting is that they arent asked to work harder than wild dolphins who have to hunt their food. If Sea World had dolphins and didn't get them to exercise in feeding sessions THAT would be cruel. Finally, doing things for an audience isn't cruel because there is an audience. You ask your dog to sit at dinner time before you feed them? It wouldn't be cruel if people payed to watch your dog sit when you asked it now would it? There's nothing inherently wrong with getting an animal being asked to perform behaviours for a crowd. So yeah, straight up lies and ignorance what these people are spouting, and they should be ashamed of themselves for their conduct.1 point

Not actually this at all. Australian regs prevent the car going any higher due to the g forces involved in the backwards launch. This is not a problem in the USA which is why you see Superman going higher.1 point

Make the pole 300 foot on top of the Hyper coaster. Now we have the worlds first Polar Coaster!1 point
-
Seen here it hardly makes it to the "OF" in "tower of terror" It may have climbed higher in its early days but these days I recon it only just makes 200ft Maybe MW should stick a 200 foot pole on top of their new coaster and claim it to be Australia's tallest coaster.1 point

Was expecting you to say like 10-15 workmen.. if i say "a number of...." it's usually because I can't be bothered counting the total number, but counting to 3 or 4 isn't too strenuous on my brain..-1 points
