  1. And I think we have a winner for one of the stupidest posts to date.

  2. Pic of the shelter being erected... A section of fencing to the coaster area has been removed, with temporary fencing in its place. My bet is that this is where they will be lugging in coaster parts ? Some concrete cutting is taking place around the right kerb inside the entry arch as well.

  3. You're actually wrong GC Theme Parks. The unions actually have zero legal power whatsoever. The agreement is reached between the employer and the government. The government creates awards in consultation with the unions but it's the government that is the legally binding part of the equation. Your quote of "agreement between the employee and employer" is just that. In this case it's talking about an EBA. An EBA is established between the employer and the government and supersedes an award that may otherwise be in place. Again the unions will have input to influence the governments decision but they have no legal power.

  4. If any of our parks are looking for a good family coaster, they should definitely give GCI a call because this looks like a fantastic family ride. As a thrill ride, it's obviously not going to amaze anyone, but I don't know if you can get much better for a family coaster.

  9. The dictionary describes the word “Bully” as a person who is habitually cruel to others. It also says a bully is a tormenter who has a imbalance of power and uses this behavior towards others on a CONSTANT basis. It is becoming increasingly alarming at how many people use the word “Bully” in the wrong context. It’s gotten to the point that if people don’t like what you say, they don’t like your opinion, or they just can’t get what they want from you, they will call you a “Bully.” Because bullying is such a hot issue, everyone is using the term “Bully” in one way or another – yet completely OUT of context. Normal social interaction, being told something you don’t want to hear, being ribbed by your friends on one occasion, being treated cruelly one time -- is not bullying. Kids who are repeatedly harassed and taunted and attacked are absolutely being bullied and need to be protected by their parents and the school system. However, children who happen to find themselves on the receiving end of a snarky remark or a disrespectful comment, have to learn the power to stand up for themselves. Much of this is just plain old DRAMA! Some of it is not. But we'll never know what real bullying is, if people continue to abuse the word. Bullying is clearly as described above and is done on a constant basis. When we use the word “Bully” in the wrong context we are sending a message to those around us that everyone is being bullied and we are telling people we are victims. We have become desensitised to the word and as a country we are overusing it. This can be harmful to kids who are truly being bullied on a regular basis. We are creating a world of victims! We cannot become victims by one time events – or because we didn’t hear what we wanted to hear from the person we were speaking to. Let’s use the word “Bully” in a real and responsible way. Bullying is difficult enough when it happens for real. Let’s not create a country of victims because our society overuses a word.

  12. I've never been to Las Vegas before, but a family visit in Late February and early march gave me a chance to finally check this destination off the list. It's better city than I thought it would be, but carries a similar feel to many other touristy places in the US I felt. I did all the main rides in Vegas itself. I wouldn't have minded riding Desperado either, but that is only open Friday/Saturday/Sunday, which didn't work with my dates. First off Adventuredome https://www.parkz.com.au/parks/US/Las_Vegas/Adventuredome It is located a the back of Circus Circus, which is pretty seedy feeling (But hey, I won $175 there so not gonna be too harsh on the place). The park itself is clean and tidy, the building looks a bit 80s (But was completed in 1993), it was fairly quiet (Many rides I was the only person onboard) and arcade machines take up all the spare floor space. It has a few standard flat rides, such as a Chaos, pirate ship, dodgems, frog hopper, carousel etc etc. There was also a drop tower called Sling Shot, which reminded me a bit of the one at Adventure World, with a fast launch up, and a controlled descent that wasn't that intense. Canyon Blaster is a large model loopscrew (The next size up from Sea Viper) so for that you get an extra loop plus a helix at the end. It ran the same trains that Cyclone had, but it wasn't that rough at all really. The thing really got moving, despite the first drop looking quite small. It was kinda cool how the whole floor of the theme park vibrated a bit every time the thing ran. Did about 3 rides. The only other thing I rode was El Loco, which is, you guessed it, an S&S el loco. Compared to green lantern, it felt a bit quicker, but definitely did bang around a bit more at a couple of points. The trains had speakers, but no onboard audio was working. The first part of the ride was similar enough ) to Green Lantern up until the 2nd block brake. (Same elements, but the first drop crosses diagonally under the main structure, and the first curved incline is banked a bit better. All felt very familiar, but I literally do not know what they were thinking when they did the dive loop on this one. Surely it could have been more flowing: The last bit of the ride is completely different, and sort of runs off away from the compact first part. Theres a bit of an outward banked turn, and another little banked section, and then another dive loop, but the bottom of the dive loop has brakes, so as soon as it finishes you are back at the station. Overall, It was a really good little coaster! I did 4 laps.

  13. It's all good dude, I don't hate you and have no reason to. I'm just being helpful and supplying correct information for the discussion at hand ☺️

  14. Yes that's still not right but given you've said you're done with the argument and the correct info is above I don't see any point pushing the point

  15. Not sure where you heard or read that, but Sunday penalty rates aren't being culled altogether, but cut/reduced by a certain percentage. The Retail Award, for example: "Sunday penalty rates will change from: ~ 200% to 150% for full-time and part-time employees ~ 200% to 175% for casuals. Public holiday penalty rates will change from: ~ 250% to 225% for full-time and part-time employees ~ 275/250% to 250% for casuals." All the relevant changes for each affected industry are listed here: http://www.fairwork.gov.au/about-us/news-and-media-releases/website-news/changes-to-penalty-rates-in-some-awards (sorry TomiJ, couldn't remove the damn tag!)

  18. @YLFATEEKS possibly. There's a LOT of workers in the area atm, so hard to tell specifically who is doing what. There's also some bobcat work happening down JL corner way. Will be driving past the front again after lunch, so I'll see if I can spot anything specific happening.

  19. @Theme Park Girl Is the concrete cutting directly across from the temp fence photo? Don't worry I can see it in the 3rd photo. Thanks for the pictures.

  20. Well that's exactly it. As I mentioned before, in my numerous experiences of doing their interviews and inductions they have always provided full disclosure of their hourly rates - including no weekend penalty rates-PRIOR to employment contract signing. So every employee of theirs has voluntarily signed & agreed to work under those rates. Nothing has ever changed, and nobody has been forced into anything, if they didn't agree with the rates then they could have easily walked out before contract signing. Yeah, I do admit that it's a bit sucky that the parks don't pay a lot of penalty rates, however I don't believe they are doing anything wrong, and I don't think the AWU really have a leg to stand on with this matter, especially given the time it has taken for them to flare up about it ?

  21. That's it! They're going to have to tear down Gaint Drop, Buzzsaw, HWSW, Batwing, SE, Green Lantern, Nearly every ride at WnW & WWW. If it can be seen from the highway, it's a major safety concern & will cause heaps of accidents! ? In all seriousness I think the location is the best location that it could have.

  24. What is a "casual enthusiast"? From reading this myself I'm thinking that it's another term for "idiot". I'm just so lost as to how your post makes any form of logical sense. Great photos @Theme Park Girl, not too long until we see some action now I'm sure!

  26. Are you serious, is that the location of the ride judging from the near map photo. It's so close to the highway, for sure in its initial 6months of opening as it towers less than 100m from the highway. It will cause accidents as people slow to look at it. the land located near (lethal weapon) and Wild west doesn't look super important, maybe those buildings can go and they can fit some things in there. PLease note I am a casual enthusiast
