Just been to the park, and as @YLFATEEKS said, plenty is happening throughout the site. Will also add, that tonnes of the piping has now been installed around the station area, with a lot sticking up out pf the ground. And now that the sun has come out, here is a photo which hopefully provides a better idea of the colours tonnes to those who still haven't seen it3 points

There's an audience of several hundred thousand VIP pass holders who are coming up on annual renewal who might have a good idea that something's being built, and a wider audience of a few million people in the SEQ region who might be considering purchasing an annual pass. The annual model means that the perceived maximum value in the product for consumers is at the start of the season so that's when they should be driving the message. Right now it's not about appeasing a few impatient enthusiasts; we're well outside of the norm for marketing a major attraction like this. Aside from a few clunky mentions of "magic" and "now" in online ads and the like, the major 2017 marketing campaign really hasn't commenced. They briefly mentioned the coaster in the recent press release for VIP passes so I'm sure it'll factor heavily in the campaign... despite "the magic can be yours now" not really being the best choice of messaging when you're spruiking an attraction that isn't due for about six months. As for the missing track. It makes no sense for Mack Rides to fabricate every piece of track, store them on site, stack them into containers and then ship them in one hit. The logistics and coordination required there would be astronomical considering their factory would function as production lines with separate crews working on raw materials, welding, grinding, painting, QC, logistics etc. It makes much more sense to fabricate, fill containers and ship progressively. Keep in mind too this is the biggest ride they've ever built and it's a company with a several-year waiting list; with many projects on the go I can't imagine space to store parts is unlimited at their end.2 points

I personally think they should announce something (or at least begin promotions of some sort) these easter holidays. It will get people excited about whats coming this September, and could be a way to get people to come back then to ride it. That banner they had up towards the end of last year would be enough for now. Just something. Anything.2 points

I guess bizzaro would sound cool for a coaster name even if u didn't know who it was. Makes it sound like the coaster is a wild ride2 points

After all the people made their submissions regarding the application for a car park MW replied to them. This has just become public. If you want to read the whole document, you can go to PDonline. It’s the last document. I have copy & pasted the key point that the report made. The thing that keeps going through my head is did MW do enough to inform the local residence. I say this because if I go on Facebook where the residents are talking about the car park nobody seems to know that it was an overflow car park. In the end G.C.C.C. received 143 properly made submissions. A review of the properly made submissions has been undertaken to ascertain key matters raised. This revealed that the following three key themes common across the submissions Traffic and transport; Town planning; and Other matters (i.e. nuisance from lighting, noise and other site specific issues). This is MW responses- It is important to distinguish that the car park is only intended to provide overflow parking for guests and staff. The operational need for the overflow car parking is likely only to be triggered on peak theme park visitation days, which generally occur during school holiday periods, public holidays and weekends. Importantly, peak carpark operation is unlikely to occur during the background traffic AM peak period. The intent to onlyoperate the car park on peak theme park visitation days, in part, addresses many of the matters raised by submitter. The site does not have exhibit the character values ordinarily associated a low density residential area because of the dominance of physical infrastructure on and adjoining the site, including high voltage power lines, water pipelines, an electricity substation and the Pacific Motorway. Accordingly, the site is considered unsuitable for a residential development outcome. The proposed development will provide a positive contribution to the orderly development of the locality. The noise mitigation and landscaping treatments will provide an effective buffer between the dominant physical infrastructure and nearby sensitive residential uses. As noted within the Applicant’s Information Request Response, several options to provide convenient and safe pedestrian access for theme park guests and staff have been considered. The most direct link would be to provide a dedicated pedestrian footpath across Saltwater Creek to the theme park entrance. We confirm that the Applicant would be prepared to submit to a reasonable and relevant condition of approval requiring that safe and efficient pedestrian access be provided between the car park and the theme park entrance, prior to the commencement of the use. The development incorporates the recommendations of the submitted Noise Assessment, by proposing a 1.8-metre-high acoustic fence, where adjoining sensitive uses. The strategic retention of existing vegetation within the development and the proposed landscaping ensures the proposed development will protect and enhance visual amenity outcomes. A minimum five (5) metre vegetated buffer is proposed where the parking station adjoins sensitive land uses to provide ascreened buffer to the development. The proposed landscaping will allow the development to act as a buffer between adjoining sensitive uses and dominant physical infrastructure in the immediate surrounding locality. This will reduce the visual dominance of the physical infrastructure, thereby improving the visual amenity and character of thelocality. The proposed parking station will be managed by Village Roadshow Theme Parks as part of their broader theme park operations at Oxenford. The site will be monitored by security staff who can take appropriate action should any anti-social behaviour be observed. Access to the proposed parking station will be restricted so that vehicles are unable to enter outside of the permitted operating hours. As detailed in the Car Park Management Plan and Operational Guideline (refer to Appendix B), temporary lighting will be installed with the car park used for night time operations. Temporary lighting is considered appropriate given the limited night time operations proposed. The Car Park Management Plan and Operational Guideline (refer to Appendix requires all temporary lighting to be positioned and shielded to prevent light spillage outside the boundaries of the premises to comply with AS4282-1997 – Control of Obtrusive Effects of Outdoor Light in. The perceived concerns that the proposed development will result in a reduction in surrounding property values is not a consideration relevant to the assessment of the proposed development against the regulatory planning framework. The proposed development has sought to ensure that the damage to existing onsite vegetation has been minimised to the greatest extent possible. The submitted Basic Ecological Site Assessment Report prepared by New Ground Environmental concluded that the proposed development will nothave a significant impact on the ability of the site to act as a corridor, given the existing disturbance and the physical barriers to fauna connectivity in the immediate surrounding locality. The presence of physical infrastructure on the site itself and within the immediate surrounding locality (including electricity power lines, a substation, local roadsand the Pacific Motorway) already creates significant air pollution in the local area.2 points

Days?? Weeks Richard!! This thread is like the Young and the Restless- you can stop watching it for years but as soon as you sit down to give it another go, its exactly the same as you remember , the exact same characters and the same tired old plots. Still, some people call that entertainment!1 point

The refurbishment of the exterior of the department store is coming along nicely. And Batwing still hasn't reopened despite being scheduled to yesterday. The path around the back of the ride is being repainted though And it has been scheduled for maintenance again from Monday 4th September to Saturday 9th September 2017.1 point

Now the electricians have finished the rough in for the coaster the site has gone into clean-up mode.1 point

Land sculpting is the order of the day. Wasn’t going to do a drive-by on the way to work today but the traffic was so bad I had time to have a look and grab a coffee. Both empty containers have now been removed from site with no new deliveries. After the electricians made a bit of a mess of the site we have a fair bit of earthworks going on today. The soil is being steamrolled and levelled around the footings. We also have a few guys cutting the grass again.1 point

That light has always been there. Bugs me to hell too. Much like the lights over the wall at Storm's station. Oh how I hate seeing maintenance lights.1 point

Total of 2 hours... Tooling around highlighting all the supports... Then linking supports that look like they should be together... Then looking at current MACK installations and how the supports are placed on individual elements... After 3 rough setups I finally ended on something that I would be happy with and really gives all the supports meaning... Of course heavily based on Flash with elements from Blue Fire, Helix and Lost Gravity... Image speaks for itself but thought I would show my reasoning for it all... Admin can ignore this if TL:DR ? This would include a few elements we are yet to see in Australia... Since it is billed with "Southern Hemisphere" and not world... We can assume that the loop will not be the same size or larger than Flash... This would allow for it to be further from the first drop and there is not enough room or supports to place it straight after the first drop... And really what else would you put after the first drop on a hyper coaster other than a loop or a larger airtime hill? After the loop it is basically a corner into the Flash double crossover section which includes the turn around and a Zero G roll... From there I agree with most everyone else so far with a helix type spiral but believe (based on supports it would dive into the spiral underneath the loop and then raise up and through the loop... The next supports run adjacent to the road and the only way to get to them from the spiral is either a more than 90 degree sharp left turn or an inversion in the diving loop (Lost Gravity)... From there I just followed the remaining supports which snake along (chicanes)... The next element is a wish on my part (supports don't really match up) in a heartline roll followed by a pass under the lift hill to a bunny hop over the river? Trickle of water? However I also believe that the opposite order of these elements is more likely given the supports and that would mean a slower heartline roll while over the water... And then finally into the brake run... Could not account for the extra few supports near the station and therefore believe that will become the maintenance area and possible storage for a second train when not in use... This would place it between the brake run and load / unload station which would be ideal for adding the second train easily...1 point

It is déjà vu but I think this is beyond stupid. When DW and MW were built, it was in the middle of nowhere. You would go up the lift hill on the thunderbolt and see nothing for miles. They have allowed people to build closer and closer to the theme parks. Most of the economy on the Gold Coast is tourism. Without tourist, the Gold Coast will die very quickly. The government have forgotten this. The consequences if Luna Park closed is nothing compared what would happen to the Gold Coast if DW & MW closed.1 point

Ha that's a laugh. My here is also no other example in the city of a landowner operating 3 major theme parks and being the city's second largest employer. The fact that is a 'residential' zone is a joke in the first place given the theme park owns the land as was here before the residential area. So if anything the residents should be in a 'theme park' zone. We are of course talking about the same community (Gold Coast) that wants to be a world class tourist destination but votes down any sort of progress or development of such.1 point
