There have been a bunch of rumours floating around as to what it's going to be and pretty much all the suggestions have been awful. For a ride that would have so obviously been perfect to be themed to one of the top tier hero's they've managed to get themselves into a rather strange place creatively with a massive magenta coaster. It's almost at the point where they're better off too announce the coaster and have a competition to see if the public can figure out what to do. Maybe no one will scream sexism if a female member of the public calls it Wonder Woman. As for the logos, yeah the park logos are good, the parent company corporate logo can piss right off. I hate to break it to you Village Roadshow, but you're not a lifestyle brand, give up trying to put your logo on things. Movie World is a stronger brand, and that's what'll make people excited when they come to the park. No one cares about the logo of the parent company.8 points

So let me get this straight... If the coaster was themed to something about movies at MOVIE WORLD it would be a cop out? Versus say picking a random character from DC and call it that? riiiiiight8 points

I used my NoLimits "park" to recreat the exact track and footings that are already in place so i can give you differently angled views on what we have so far. I also added a the parts of the layout that are now obvious from track and footings. In my opinion the dive turn around is set as the following element. As the previous element still a vertical loop would fit perfectly with the foundations (not in the screenshots yet).8 points

Someone give this guy a raise (or, you know, a job in the first place.) Great work mate, keep it up!7 points

Visited Sea World today for the first time in ages, so thought I'd do a post about it for those interested, since the park hasn't been discussed for a while. Although be warned in advance, there isn't a huge amount to really report. No real visual changes with the Vikings Flume ride as yet, the ride appears to have been sitting stagnant since its closure. Although worth mentioning that the sound of power tools could be heard coming from the roof of the castle earlier this morning, not sure if related or not but would make sense if it was lol: The park was fairly busy for the last day of interstate school holidays, Ray Reef was pulling in quite a modest sized crowd around its first presentation time: Still no real movement happening for the water park either, although some relatively new signage has gone up along the monorail fence: Today was World Penguin Day (well, officially it's Tuesday but the park was celebrating today to avoid Anzac Day conflict) so naturally they had some celebrations happening for the event, including a free prebooked arts & crafts workshop for kids: Plus discounted Penguin merch for today only: (Obligatory penguin photo for World Penguin Day lol): The Gold Coast's one and only Monorail is looking good, if not a bit bare now since all its in-park advertising was stripped off a while ago: The Our World of the Dolphin show is still taking place at the pool near the front of the park, although I decided not to wait around for an hour to see it (maybe next time lol: The Storm Coaster was slow to open this morning, witnessed what appeared to be numerous test cycles focused on the brake runs before it eventually opened to the public around 11am: All in all it was a nice day to visit the park weather wise this morning, despite not having any real signs of improvement work happening anywhere. Hopefully they will start soon, I suspect Sea World will be next in line once they finish dolling up WB Movie World π So yeah, that's what's happening and not happening at Sea World of late lol βΊοΈ5 points

Tried to take a few shots from a different angle this arvo..4 points

^ Exactly!!! π I know it's an unpopular theory, but I'm actually becoming even more open (and excited!) to this concept now. And let's not forget that whilst the coaster is in DC corner, it's also located right next to the movie studios as well πππ3 points

@Theme Park Girl that would be a plot twist of the century.3 points

I believe the MW sign is the new fence post light. @Reanimated35 even a good picture it is hard to see. I think it would be a mistake to use the sign to help guess the name of the coaster.2 points

Hey @LORD_Noodle welcome to Parkz! So far, all of your questions have been answered. You only need to look over the hundreds of pages spent the past 12 or so months of discussion on this particular topic alone. I don't mean to be rude chap - be assured there are plenty on here that will happily be so if you continue to frustrate them unnecessarily!! Suffice that would be wasted time spent on all our partsπ. So, if you want to spend time on your love of Theme Parks here, Welcome! Be respectful of those here and they will be to you. And for the love of all things whatever, P L E A S E have a good read first before asking stupid questions that show ignorance and contempt. Have a Happy Dayπ2 points

In the interests of everyone's sanity, let's try and keep these guidelines in mind when sharing photos from parks. 1. Don't ask for photos Rest assured if someone is in a position to get photos of something interesting, they will. 2. Don't ask what to take photos of By the same token, don't ask in advance if anyone wants photos of something in particular. If you see something cool, snap a photo and share it. 3. Don't tell us you're going to be taking photos We don't need to be told hours or days in advance of your impending visit. No one cares. Share the photos you do get, but you don't need to announce it in advance. 4. Check it's new before posting Try and keep up to date on the discussion and minimise duplicates.2 points

Here's just a couple of pictures I took this morning before any construction workers arrived (Except for a couple of offical looking people walking around the site) Nothing new really, just a couple more angles for progress2 points

Village Roadshow Ride would indeed be awful, on the other hand other fairly generic stuff like Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit or Hollywood Dream from Universal fit in well enough. Hell even Hollywood Stunt Driver the Ride would be better than some of the rumors that have been doing the rounds.1 point
-
This is absolutely totally speculation here, but if I were in charge of the park (and indeed being very cautious, mindful & respectful to those affected by the accident) I wouldn't be re-opening a water ride with belts & channels of water (regardless of how dissimilar the ride type or ride vehicle is) until the River Rapids ride was cleared away from the property completely, or until an appropriate time has amassed anyway.1 point

I really dig this. Glad the studios are getting a semblance of culture and identity given how important they are to the film industry here in Australia now.1 point
-
But wouldn't that mean it would be more of a generic movie theme because of that? Would be a really dodgy cop-out of a theme if they did do that - not the sort of thing I'd expect MW to do. Or - they could just announce the coaster so we don't have to keep on playing "guess the theme" by looking at fence toppers.1 point
-
Yep. And maybe, just maybe, it's an initial indication that our new rollercoaster may very well not be DC themed, afterall? πππ1 point

I agree, and this wouldn't be used to access the studios any more as the coasters entrance and queue area will be there. I think the logos look good, and making them 3D really adds to it, rather than a 2D image. And I imagine they will be lit up at night, which will look cool. I suppose it adds to the entrance as you drive into the park (If they do add them to the top of all of the fence around the coaster).1 point

Not sure how many of you are much into consumer VR, but Mack has released an app called Coastiality. It's half (see 90%) poorly done 360 POV's and half (10%) the actual VR footage they use on the VR enabled rides. Although you get like not even 10 seconds of the VR footage without paying, and the POV's were filmed in potato, its still a cool-ish concept for Cardboard and Gear/Daydream. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mackmedia.coastiality&hl=en1 point

Just noticed the two end fence poles have a different top with VR and MW logos... wonder why?1 point

To answer your question, that satellite image that shows Richards example layout shows the full area over the coaster, and you can see the footings and fence line. Just go to the top of that post he made and you'll see exactly what I'm on about with the lines over it. We don't know any specifics for the ride in regards to length, height, speed, etc, it is mostly spectaculation.1 point

Forgot to upload this yesterday... here's a nice panorama of the coaster compound taken from the footpath next to Entertainment road. You can see how much room there still is on the right hand side for turnaround of the coaster track, along with which footings are yet to have their supports installed. Still quite a bit of room there π1 point

Think NoLimits 2 supports VR so there is one decent program that does support it if that's the case.1 point

^ I also did the Wacky Worm to get the credit. I'm sure I looked like a big idiot riding it, but anything for a credit, right? As for your question @Noxegon, I spoke to Peter Short (co-owner of the Taipan) and they're still trying to get it onto shows from what I gathered, so not history just yet!1 point

If you're a Universal Fan, three days isn't overkill. The New Volcano bay water park should be open then, so might be worth a look. Pandora will be open at Animal Kingdom, and is looking pretty awesome, Animal Kingdom is my personal favorite Orlando Disney Park. (2nd to only DisneySea). I'm a thrill head, and not a big theming person, so I rank the Orlando parks like this; 1. Islands of Adventure 2. Universal Studios 3. SeaWorld 4. Animal Kingdom 5. Magic Kingdom (I'm really not the biggest fan of Magic Kingdom, it's very crowded and is really catered towards families with younger kids, but like all Disney Parks, great theming, great staff and ALOT to do here, but only if the attractions acually appeal to you. Get the Seven Dwarfs mine train done first, on a busy day the line won't get shorter until around the start of the fireworks, once the fireworks is over the line will shoot back up again). 6. Legoland (Not Orlando but close enough) 7. Hollywood Studios 8. The two Funspot parks 9. Epcot As a side note, Kennedy Space Centre is pretty awesome, I would personally go here over all the theme parks from Legoland and below.1 point

I was actually being sarcastic, I thought I worded it in a way that y'all would read it that way. Sorry!-1 points
