  1. It looks like it's a covered work area for a tiny hypercoaster.

  2. It's a twisty hill (technical terms now) Just went past. No invert there.

  3. So long as the cross sectional area of the bolts is equal to the cross sectional area created by the wall thickness of the support column tube, it's all good.

  4. 3 pieces installed today, with the next lot of supports where the track will drop down after the twisty hill. After the drop down it will sharply turn to the right

  5. Looking at supports in the area today it is twisty hill into turn (similar to what Superman has). Connection plates don't match what would be needed for a roll.

  6. Because it's almost impossible to get the concrete perfectly level and also the support might not be 'perfect' so the base might not sit perfectly level anyway. The nuts 'under' the support can be adjusted to level the support correctly. Once it's all said and done the space in the middle will be grouted so the support does effectively 'connect' with the concerted. Does that make sense?

  8. I don't think there's any chance of a re paint because forget the theme. This colour scheme is one of the best looking coasters I've ever seen.

  9. The Evil Within 👌🏼 After doing the maze I was a'maze'd . I then went home and watched a couple of game plays on YouTube. I went back to FN a second time & did the maze again & was even more amazed at the level of detail! That's my winner.. so far

  10. I could fetch it even further I suppose. Maybe the reason they haven't announced the ride yet is that they aren't actually going to open it at all, and the current track being built is just a distraction from what they're really doing. In reality, they're building a completely new theme park underground, below Movie World. It will open in 2050, and will be as big as the entire Gold Coast! Nope? Ok. I can't do this anymore tonight!

  11. If @MickeyD has heard that the theme will make sense, then it will definitely be broader themed or a Batman chases villains themed ride (or superman, or any other well known DC hero chasing a DC villain). Why? It makes no sense to have a 3rd ride in the park mainly themed to villains or a group of villains. It makes sense to make this ride themed to one of DC's main heroes, but it makes no sense to make a Wonder Woman, Flash, Superman or Batman ride pink. It doesn't make sense if Australia's biggest, most awesome roller coaster is themed completely to some not very well known hero or villain, whose suit or skin is the colour pink/magenta/whatever you want to call it.

  12. Great - first sign of some serious ejector airtime?

  13. I'd be inclined to agree with @pin142 - the supports either side of Flash's roll have angles of roughly +90° and -90°, meaning the track only has to roll about 180° between supports. That orientation also gives it strong bracing against both directions of lateral movement. On the other hand, the supports at Movieworld appear to have angles of roughly +75° and -15° - the track would have to roll ~270° if it's going to invert there (vs only ~90° if it's a simple airtime hill). Depth is always hard to perceive in photos but that space between the supports looks too short to fit 270° of twisted track, not to mention the sub-optimal bracing for lateral forces towards the left. Either possibility though would be plenty enticing for me!

  15. Not sure why this is getting down voted. It's probably one of the most reasonable posts you've made. I'm sure the majority of members would agree they'd like the pod to go higher up the tower.

  16. To be honest I'd like to see them replace all the LSM's For New ones so Tower Of Terror II can go higher or maybe even as high as Tower Of Terror use to go when they opened it in 1997.

  19. Are you sure you aren't confusing with the cable guides. The mag brakes for the fake out drop aren't there. If they were, they would be in the way and slowing every car. Ah well, you can take a pic for all of us if you are certain

  20. Big post here. Sorry (not sorry). I feel like this week's construction (and forums posts) have been coming thick and fast, so I wanted to respond to various posts in the one thread. Monday: This image by @themagician (who visited the park almost daily and uploaded many pics - thanks!) of piece 66 is part of the diving turn, for those playing jigsaw. Remember, @rummyplaced piece 53 at the top of the Stengel Dive. Tuesday: @themagician posted this comment about @docoaster marrying installed and projected track (into the s-bend track), which prompted me to revisit their entry in the Design the Coaster comp. I noticed they used the foundations to suggest the next element in the forward direction of the coaster was a zero-g roll. I was not expecting assembly to progress that far this week so I was prepared to wait and see next week if @docoaster was going to be right. I was busy with work & family over the next few days, and didn't check the forums much. Wednesday: This image by @Theme Park Girl - was the first time I longed to see the train in motion of the track (turns out to be one of many pic updates from you this week, thanks!). The curve had me feeling like this. Thursday: @themagician posted the above pic, very similar to @Theme Park Girl's, but with progress showing the track now joined to the top of the turnaround. A perfect photo. GIF made below with pink - sorry the generator didn't have a 'magenta' option. Another from @themagician was this: I measured the middle piece of track to about a 135 degree rotation - meaning either an overbanked turn or part of the zero-g roll. The mounting point might help explain - honestly I'm not sure myself. [edit - turns out it's neither!] Friday: @Skeeta posted a pic by TPSN, and @themagician posted something similar: This is an angle I really want to photo/video the train moving towards camera. themagician also posted piece 81, but with 61 being part of the turnaround's dive, this must be going in well after the s-bend, maybe the last piece of the left-hander under the top of the Stengel Dive. themagician also posted this image - it looks to be the rest of twisty the element they posted on Thursday. I am in agreement with @xRazzBerryx - @docoaster's zero-g prediction looks about right. @Ryande16 then goes on to post what I was thinking, albeit calling it a corkscrew. Today, Saturday: @Theme Park Girl posts more awesome pics - the crowd shot especially. I want to stand right there on its' first day and watch for an hour. Then @themagician posts this angle: I must again respond with my matrix gif. Such a good piece of track - and it's not one even of the main elements! The train will most likely have completed only one (two at the most) airtime hill by the time it reaches this area, will it be carrying too much speed to execute a non-inverting loop? Seeing as though Soaring with Dragons in China does it straight after a LSM launch, perhaps not..? 42 is part of a non-inverted loop...?!?!??!??

  23. I'm glad Disney caved. The 501st are a genuinely neat charity organisation, they'd be insane to try and close them down. Looks like a great weekend to flex some photography muscle.

  24. @Glubbo, @Themeparkfan is referring to the dramas last year that nearly saw the entire event called off. The 501st even publicly announced on their FB page that it was the "last ever" one due to new complications with Disney licensing. Obviously they managed to come to some kind of mutual agreement in the end to see the event continuing into the future. Which is good news ☺️?

  25. Yeah, probably was a little harsh, but do you believe that adding extra nights will bring about a higher visitation, or just a more even spread over the nights? if it's not going to bring them significant extra $$$ they won't invest in more nights, given the large operating costs per night. I pay an extra $2 a month, which admittedly is nothing, and would happily have that upped to $5 a month, maybe even $10, for access to the night events, IF the quality was improving on what we've seen from the last round of events which was WELL down on previous years IMO.. From memory the majority of fright night events in 2016 didn't sell out (correct me if I am wrong), so I don't know if you could justify extra nights..

  26. Definitely 'included' as opposed to 'free'. I think a lot of people forget that Premier members (speaking as one) actually pay extra per month on top of the normal pass cost in order to have these event tickets included each year. So we are still paying for them, just at a discounted, upfront cost than buying during the actual event seasons.

  28. It's a simple matter of replacing the track with a different type of track, constructing a building around it, installing some animatronics and other themeing, and Bob's your aunty Mable! Of course the opening date will still be September, but not this year. 2018 is more likely!
