Mainly because I'd really like to discuss something other than Ol' Pinky, it's never to early to discuss arguably the best night event of the year. With that said, lets talk maze and precinct IP. What we know so far: Fright Nights will return for 2017 (duh) There will be 4 mazes 2 mazes will be returning From Dusk Til Dawn Conjuring 2 There will be 2 new mazes One major maze One slightly lesser major maze Precincts will be back Panic rooms will return Ultimate Terror Tour will return Maze/UTT Locations: Purpose built shed #1 Purpose built shed #2 Likely: Dodgems (Aligns with scheduled maintenance) Likely: Show stage UTT - Likely: Scooby Doo queue (Scheduled maint 28/08 - 18/09) - would be enough time to close off half the queue and build a set like last time. Precincts IP: Mannequin (Reel Horror Film Festival 2016 winner) ? ? ? Precincts Locations: Fountain area towards Superman Escape Gotham stage Main street near the big screen/plaza Alley between AA and Scooby Maze IP: Conjuring 2 From Dusk Till Dawn ? ? ---------------------------------------------- Now, as far as mazes goes, following on from previous years, Movie World would be looking for an "Iconic" horror brand for at least one of the major mazes. Something that everyone's heard of and knows. In line with that reasoning, I asked a few people off-forum what the first movie/franchise was that came to mind when they heard "iconic horror movie". The results were: Psycho Halloween Friday the 13th Nightmare on Elm st Saw Chucky Evil dead Texas Chainsaw Massacre Exorcist Alien Scream The Shining Birds Freddy vs Jason Blair Witch Project I've crossed out the ones that have been done, or close enough to being done before. That said, there's some pretty good ideas among them. The other thing to consider when thinking about a maze theme is that Movie World love reusing their seemingly large selection of tree props. Which is fair enough, may as well make use of what they have to keep budget for other things. With that in mind, one of the mazes is going to need a nice outdoors style area.3 points

3 new rides... 15-20 years... Sending profits overseas to support other ventures... Is someone talking about Wonderland?3 points
-
Well, according to the 0.0004% figure, if I ride something 250 thousand times I'll experience a ride stoppage. Challenge accepted.2 points

There's literally a whole forum topic already about this. Why did you have to create a new one?2 points

Fairfields building the hype for a new attraction. I wonder if they are talking about the TornadoWAVE. This was in the paper last year and it said it was for 2017/2018 season. " A TORNADO is set to hit Whittlesea township next year as Funfields amusement park prepares to install its next big ride. The TornadoWAVE waterslide is one of many new attractions on the horizon."2 points

They still open Kevil Hill over school holiday periods, though. So not really ideal as a storage spot either when they allow public access every 2-3 months, and subsequently upkeep the inside theming and what not.2 points

Village Roadshows new video talks about the medias false news about its ride stoppages1 point

I reckon something like Roar-O-Saurus would be excellent fit for a small woody. It's an excellent beginner coaster and apparently has some pretty wicked airtime as well, so it would satisfy us coaster enthusiast.1 point

Saw this on SW's FB page today.. Yes because there's a very good chance your 11k followers would know a wedding ring would be1 point

At least they know how to advertise. The only problem I have with Funfields advertising if this is the ride. Why is it a secret now when you told everybody last year? http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/north/funfields-amusement-park-to-install-tornadowave-next-year/news-story/4841bcf613bb1e7b9239255b2c0c6ea71 point

You're right. You seemed to be suggesting building now and then not building anything for 15-20 years.1 point
-
No one suggested building 3 rides every twenty years. No one suggested not building anything new for 5 years. Dreamworld profits have been subsidizing the building Bowling Alleys in the USA, it is not unreasonable for Ardent to use the profits from those to subsidise the re-furb of Dreamworld, given their current circumstances. Also, this thread is called 'Wishful Thinking', not 'Small-Minded, Short-Term, They'll Never Do It Anyway So Why Bother Mentioning it Thinking'.1 point

Have you done any kind of business studies at all? And what about in 3-5 years when all those rides are "old" and people are over them? Or are you just expecting the public to go "oh, well 15 years ago they added all that new stuff, so we probably don't need anything new for a another good 5 years or so."1 point

I wish DW was more like Six Flags parks. You might want to have a look who RMC biggest customers are before saying that. I'm not the biggest fan of riding spin coasters.1 point

Blair Witch would be an interesting option, and could make good usage of the outdoor/tree props. Ive always thought a Scream Maze would be an easy do as really it would work in any generic set at all. Texax Chainsaw to me wouldn't have much point of difference to HillBilly Slasher. Alien wouldn't work without animatronics which won't happen.1 point

Congratulations. You just spent more than the park used to make in a whole year.1 point

That's not an actor. That's the same person that was on camera in the previous video1 point
-
the intention behind the video is a great one. the voiceover actor isn't suited, and sounds like they're doing it in their office, and trying not to disturb their neighbour whilst doing it. voice actors need more range to engage a viewer. she sounds like she's tripping on diazepam. they should get that guy that does the e-serve ad. it'd be so obnoxious the news networks would be bound to sit up and take notice!1 point

Disney fans will recognise my choice of words. The more I read over the last few posts, the more I wish someone would create a coaster element called a Gullywhumper.1 point

Took these this afternoon at DW after being tipped off by a member here (not sure if they want to be identified, please feel free to speak up - you know who you are 😆👍) but it appears that some early removal work may have finally begun on Eureka Mountain? Really not sure what the go is, but will be keeping a close eye on this spot over coming weeks to see if anything further eventuates...1 point

My wish list: - First, tear down the old Mine Cart and TRR. - Then, I would build GoldRush into a fully immersive experience by merging 3 rides together: An RMC Hybrid Woody A Family-Friendly wildmouse (not a spinner) A Water-Based dark ride similar to the old LooneyTunes or Bermuda Triangle rides at MW/SW. The RMC would be the showpiece, it could even weave through Buzzsaw, and hug the terrain where TRR was. The Wildmouse and Water based ride would share the same entrance area - with effectively the same story elements. I would open the ride with a show-style element where miners are led down into the mine. Then I would have a mine collapse element where the only way to escape was to jump in the mine carts, or to try to get out through the underground rivers. I would even consider building alternate endings to each of the rides, since they're both family friendly you would be able to keep all your stuff with you and wouldn't need to worry about returning to the station. This way you have a reason to ride each one more than once, because the stories will be different each time. The old Titanic attraction at Fox Studios had a similar multiple-ending idea (well, two endings - you got on a life boat or you sank). I would build both rides around each other with head-chopper elements - potentially even having them interact with the RMC. If there wasn't the space for all three, I would replace the water ride with a 4D simulator that had the same story with different endings. Lotte World in Korea has 3 different simulators and they're a great break from all the spinning on the other rides. The Goldrush area of the park would then have 4 rides in total. Ideally I would blend it a bit more with Rocky Hollow/GD to transition from Mining to Bushranger to Corroboree, and have that entire half of the park be 'Australian History' themed. Down the line, I would update RHLR to have more of a story to it - probably something actually historical like the Eureka Stockade. I strongly believe that having a narrative to work to greatly improves ride theming and concepts. I'd also introduce one or two kid friendly rides to that end of the park, so that parents can do a parent-swap and one of them can keep the kids entertained while the other goes on the rides.1 point

This wasn't directed at me, but I'll throw in my 2c. I also only went once to Dreamworld as a kid, also in 1988. I didn't go back again until my late teens/early 20s. It had that 'magical' feeling, because back then it was only a once-or-twice in a childhood place to go typically. We started buying annual passes when my kids were pre-school/toddler age, and they spent a couple of years going every few weeks. To them, it was the equivalent of a slightly-more-fun-than-usual playground.1 point

This is such a tragic accident and so soon after Dreamworld on a similar ride. My thoughts are with the family. I was at Drayton Manor last July on a return trip to the UK and their Director George Bryan showed me around. I have sent a message of support to the team this morning.1 point

See first post I thought was a joke, now I think you may need professional help. Giant Drop did have brakes at the top on the Eastern side, which is totally not something you remembered wrong. Any more talk about tot pausing at the top will be deleted.1 point

OK, so I've done some digging this evening and managed to find out some more info in regards to what the hole in the Mountain is about. If it's true, it's not as exciting as initially thought, which is a bit of a bummer! 😕 Ive been told it's aftermath of damage done by ex-TC Debbie when she paid a visit last month. I hadn't actually noticed it until now, when @Twilight Zone messaged me and brought it to my attention as apparent evidence of early removal work. I'm sorry for the false alarm, but yeah... the only demolition work done here was by some serious rain and gusts of wind lol. That all said, I still think it's a worthwhile topic of discussion... it will be interesting to see if they bother to patch the hole up or not. I think this will be a big indication as to whether they intend to keep or scrap the mountain in future? Esp since they recently added that new door frame, as per @Skeeta's post above 😮1 point

I'd guess more likely they're removing some or all of it to clear up the image of that area and make room for the memorial and replacement. Probably a good time for it if they're removing the rapids anyway.1 point

No it did hang the car there and it was really fun and it did feel like forever-1 points

Ride evacuations (I'm not calling them ride unloads) were down 38% last year which is dandy. They also quote the number of guests they had last year and how many rides people go on rides. You think that's to set you up for them to tell you how many ride stops they had or how many guests they evacuated off a ride and in doing so prove how rare it is, and how it's not so rare that it's scary. They do however skip that step presumably because that saying it happened around 500 times (guessing) sounds bad and instead they go straight into an out of context stat about having a 0.0004% chance of being involved in a break down (do they mean per visit or per ride taken?). If I was a maths teacher I'd fail them for failing to show their working. It's not a total waste though, if they ever install an elevator into the admin building they now have something totally inoffensive and bland to play during the trip.-1 points

Just to get the thread started Here is an explanation video of how the dolphins are kept- Here is a protest from sea world- Why are people protesting if the dolphins live freely. Also, I'd like to note how vr theme parks are making videos explaining simple things so the general public trust them. E.g. Ride procedures and animal handling videos.-1 points

Your very good at this. Yeah, I did make it up. Just on another note, If you look on Dreamworld's website, you will see that The Rip is also closed without a maintenance period scheduled. So i don't think we should be worrying about seeing Tower of Terror going/being closed for too long.-2 points
