  1. Here's my weekly photo contribution. Had to include this one because, I think, this is a great photo. I'll continue doing the two shots below until there is no more construction in-frame. I can't tell if these supports are going to be for lift hill or loop; maybe one of you can hazard a guess. I think the fact that we cover these new attractions so extensively really shows how much we love new attractions, maybe the parks should invest in them more often Below you can see the loop entrance (right) and exit (left) with the helix's and cool twisty-ness all around. Another "because I thought it looked cool" photo. Okay, maybe two... And this is the turn after the airtime hill. Lookin' real twisty.

  2. Alright, well I wasn't going to post this originally, but I've spoken to some people who have suggested I should share it. So here we are. Take it as you will. Not sure how old this is or how accurate it is, or even if it's even legit.

  3. We know that Dreamworld is opening "The Park" Patisserie & Grill very soon which will likely form the new exit to the park. We know that the new Sumatran tiger enclosure is only weeks away, and we know that Dreamworld needs to add some more new things to aid in their recovery in guest confidence. Everyone has an opinion on what should happen. A lot of people are expecting some big draw-card rides and attractions, some people are expecting more family orientated activities. Some people are expecting a return or removal of the mine ride. And some people are just expecting the entire park to become a fully enclosed dark ride only accessible via a monorail. However, I propose a new theory. Scratch all that. Lets run a new theory. To start with, you guys like fridge calendars, right? MAY 2017 > Open "The Park" JUNE/JULY 2017 > Open Tiger Island extension SEPTEMBER 2017 > Reopen the Log Ride > Reopen the Vintage Cars DECEMBER 2017 > Corroboree stage 2 2018 & Beyond Now, I'm just going to preface this with the fact I went to bed at 0345, woke up at 0700, 0900 and finally got out of bed at 1000. I'm very tired and this will probably contain quite a bit of rambling. Apologies in advance - rereading this, I don't like the flow of it and how it's written, but I'm too tired to make sense of what I mean and fix it sorry. Dreamworld is in the perfect position in my opinion. They, through some tragic circumstances, have been given a chance to reinvent themselves. Sure, it's not going to be an easy task, and I don't mean in any way to disrespect the people involved in the incident, but there wouldn't have been any easier way to close down a large section of the park. I mean, they're not on the scale of Disney where there's still plenty to do otherwise. Dreamworld have been focusing on "Australiana" lately, so why not continue that trend? Asia is a huge market for our parks, and Dreamworld seems to be the main property targeting that market. Are we expecting that to change? What if they re-purposed some areas of the park for new, long lasting "experiences" rather than short-lived attractions like rides and coasters? Movie World hands down has the coaster game in the bag, Dreamworld have to know they can't compete with that, so they can aim for the market the VRTP doesn't seem too keen on right now. On the coaster front though, could we see Gold Rush refreshed to bring back the Mine Ride? I wouldn't be ruling that out yet. If it was to be scrapped completely, I'd like to think they would have just been up front about it by now. All we've seen is things like "we'd love it to come back", "watch this space" etc. If it was a foregone conclusion that it was leaving, I'd expect "the Mine Ride is going to be replaced by a new attraction at a later date" or something similar. But coasters aside. Experiences: VRTP, mainly through Movie World are clearly aiming for "bigger is better". Could we be about to see some new "Australian Experiences"? Could we even see the introduction of international brands and ideas that other parks haven't done before? Could Dreamworld be about to take the step of "better is bigger" in terms of marketing the park as a full day of different experiences for the whole family? Just something to think about anyway. Rides may not be the solution for Dreamworld at the moment. You could get one coaster, or maybe 3 or 4 different "experiences" for the same price.

  5. Wow, had a great time at Cockburn ARC this afternoon. It seems a strange time to be visiting waterslides on the coldest day in May in 5 years, but since it's indoors and heated, it didn't really matter. Cockburn ARC is the new home to the Freo Dockers and this was their discover weekend, a $7 fee covered entry to the slides and pools for a limited amount of time. I had tickets for the 1-2.15pm session. Arriving about twenty minutes early there was already a line to get in. Just a few minutes to 1pm they opened the doors and everyone started to go in. There were plenty of entertainers to keep the crowds happy. The centre staff were great, although there are a few kinks to work out. They held the queue at the bottom of the stairs, but as you quickly found out, this was just for the popular tube slide (The Tumbler). Very few people were lining up for the drop slide, The Rocket, so naturally I ended up going on it twice. The plunge was exhilarating, and the ride was quickly over. The Pipeline is an 'extreme speed' slide that is more like your regular mat slides. It's a pretty good length and has some cool light effects. Didn't get a chance to go on the Tumbler, but I look forward to that next time. The food also seems to be pretty reasonable there too. Can't wait to go back, plus it's only about five minutes away from Adventure World. https://www.facebook.com/7NewsPerth/videos/10154691316049072/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE https://www.facebook.com/Buggybuddys/videos/vb.218558634845242/1503465423021217/?type=2&theater https://www.facebook.com/Buggybuddys/videos/vb.218558634845242/1503465283021231/?type=2&theater https://www.facebook.com/Buggybuddys/videos/vb.218558634845242/1503465243021235/?type=2&theater

  9. Wow, totally got that when I first saw the hibiscus (I took the photos of them on my last visit, before today - the flowers are looking great). It appears Inferno is in pieces at the moment (at the back of the park), and there's a power sub-substation at the rear of the grand prix racetrack (near the Cirque Extreme site).

  10. It's "Warner Bros. Movie World", not MOVIE WORLD, not MOVIEWORLD. VRTP's art department has better tools than MS Paint The type is poorly balanced The type is awful There's no DC trademark for the ident No. Just no goldcoastparkz. Can we all just chillout for one day? @joz pass the peace pipe round, mate.

  11. That looks incredible. I can't believe how good some of these aquatic centres are becoming these days. Seriously a kids wonderland (and I don't mean as in Wonderland Sydney).

  12. You're aware that that there's movies made about alien's invading earth, purpley/blue people that live in trees riding dragonesk creatures, humans wearing trench coats that can dodge bullets, the Death Star is sitting just outside our galaxy and Debbie does Dallas right? I gotcha, movies depict real life situations. Carry on. 10 points
