Okay, so you guys really don't leave much to cover; but here are my two weekly comparison shots. (Photo's taken around 11am this morning) Now that the final segment of the Inclined Dive Loop has been completed, only the higher peaks of the ride will make this shot different. (I mean, obviously, though, right.)10 points

Hey guys! After introducing myself a few pages ago I would like to share my thoughts about the way the coaster develops. To be honest I am very surprised that we didn`t see any loops until now. I`m also surprised that the coaster will be that twisty...while there´s no "typical" airtime hill until now. If some bunnyhills will come close to the end that would be a very nice addition...and if I`m right the the footers are clearly leading to that kind of ending Regarding the intensity: Mack are using a soft wheel-type on their mega coasters - leading to a very comfortable and quite ride experience - but also to a relatively quick loss of speed. So: It will be interesting to see how fast the coaster will be in the second half of the ride. Being a regular rider of Blue Fire I can also tell you that the coaster that you`re getting will probably become significantly faster during the day. AFAIK that change in speed is more typical for woodies, but Blue Fires speed is changing a lot. Especially because of the long track I wouldn`t be surprised if the intensity will change a lot during the day. I guess we`ll have to wait and see. But: I still have absolutely no doubt that this coaster will be a huge "fun-machine"...those very open trains and lapbars only are such a treat...I can already see you guys raving about the ride-quality after testing it! The last thing I would like to mention: Am I the only one who ist absolutely not sure if a non-inverted loop is an enhancement of the ride experince - or if a conventional loop would have been a besser choice? Besides that: Wouldn`t a normal loop be better for marketing as it will be such a huuuge one? I am really surprised they went for a non-inverted one. So...just some of my thoughts and questions I hope its okay that I was posting these things here... Have a nice day and greeds from Germany.... GeorgeT6 points

Why though? If there are going to be inversions, there needs to be a couple at least. This thing that rides like Flying Aces/Cheeta Hunt/Storm @ Etnaland etc have done where they pop in a random single inversion is neither fish nor fowl....One inversion is not truly satisfying for people who like loops, but at the same time a single inversion is enough to put off ridership from those who don't want to go upside down. Worst of both worlds.5 points

Was definitely an awesome day at dreamworl. Defenley the busiest i'v seen the place in a long time, would of been perfect If they had the cannon-ball express running around the park. Big thanks to Disney for letting the 501st league continue to put this on.3 points

All the pancake options are listed on the menu shot in my post from yesterday. Here it is again 😁👍2 points

The general public are going to call the non-inverting loop a "loop". They'll see it as a loop with an extra feature. I still hope for for a roll after the helix and before the bunny hills.2 points

@jake_hunt & @MaxxTheMonster Are correct that Dreamworld does lack the staff to pull off a parade... But... Lotte World in Seoul has 2 daily parades. A lunchtime parade currently themed to Carnivale, and an Evening Parade that features light floats, performers, and illuminated synchronised drones (I'm not joking) that I actually enjoyed more than Disney's parades. A bit of Background info... Lotte World is the world's largest indoor theme park. It has a number of indoor rides, and as well as 'Magic Island' which has some outdoor rides. For the smaller lunchtime parade, some of the rides are closed (mostly children's rides) and the staff perform in the parade (as well as some professional dancers etc.) For the Evening Parade, almost all of the interior rides close and the staff perform in the parade, and the park resumes normal operations after the show. People are still free to line-up for rides during this time, but the rides don't operate until the parade ends. Dreamworld could follow this model, but the Parade would need to be a feature. The parade wouldn't just need to be better than any single attraction in the park, it would need to be better than every attraction in the park, otherwise people would just get pissed off. Lotte World's parade is so spectacular that no one really cares if the rides aren't operating for an hour. The even sell 'after 4pm' tickets that don't include rides because people go just to see the Parade.2 points

Never experienced a non-inverting loop so can't comment on their pros/cons vs regularly loops. i will say I am surprised we are not getting any inversions (or so it likely seems) on this Coaster. Would have been nice to at least have one imo, given the current #1 Coaster in the park also has no inversions. Still wont dampen my excitement for the ride though by any means, would just have been a nice extra element to have2 points

Flying aces issue by Intamin so of course the support structure will be different.2 points

Are we SURE we're getting a non inverting loop? The supports so far look similar to flashes traditional loop compared to flying aces support structure on its non inverted loop.2 points

Well the Hyper coaster did not even make it into the travelandleisure.com top 48 attractions for 2017. Yes this is an international list including Coasters from Germany and Dubai. (It even has water parks and a S&S free spin on it) However the reason is that MW have waited so long to tease and God Knows when we will get an offical announcement. So not many people other then ones who visit the park frequently or people like us will know about it. Which I think is where VRTP have screwed themselves over and missed a big opportunity. The list is here: http://www.travelandleisure.com/attractions/amusement-parks/new-theme-park-rides-20171 point

I have to say this coaster looks simply amazing, and is arguably the best new ride for 2017 along with Lech Coaster in Poland! It looks so gorgeous too with the sunny background; the pink and dark gray colours work very well imo. The layout itself has a lot of twisty sections that could be very exciting to ride. I has been lucky enough to try both Alpina Blitz in France (the Mack Mega-lite version) and, more importantly, Helix at Liseberg. I can tell you both coasters are very enjoyable! They might not reach the insane levels of intensity of the best Intamin (EGF, El Toro, Taron), but both are still pretty forceful. The airtime is good ejector (again, not the craziest, but really fun nonetheless). Alpina Blitz's changes of direction in the middle section are pretty nervous and wicked too! Based on those 2 coasters I really think Mack masters the use of forces on a coaster and provides an excellent balance between airtime, G+, floater moments and delicate laterals. If they replicate that correctly on this Hyper, you're in for a very exciting ride since it's even bigger and possibly longer Looking forward to more updates on this obviously1 point

I agree with Gazza, 0 inversions would be better than just 1. Airtime > inversions for me any day. I feel the inversion on Cheetah Hunt is totally unnecessary. If we get a massive airtime hill after the drop, & bunny hills back to the station after the helix I will be happy1 point
-
I agree with @Gazza on this one, the barrel roll on Flying Aces sorta feels out-of-place, almost as if it was thrown in last-minute because they ran out of other elements to put in. I'd much prefer to have no inversions, because it means it leaves more room for airtime.1 point

This ride looks like a lot of fun. It fits in perfectly with the entire 'fun' atmosphere of DCA. From all the videos i've seen, people are laughing and enjoying themselves the entire time. Disney is planning to release new GOTG films every 3 years or so. In 10 years time they will be up to the 6th film release in the franchise. So the GtoG theme will have at least 20 years of longevity. I don't think the Guardian's franchise becoming dated is going to be an issue. Kids growing up today will feel nostalgic for these films in the future. I can understand Disney's reasoning for wanting to exploit their IP. The ride will sell toys, it will get people who haven't seen the films to watch the films, and the films will be an extra selling point for DCA. Plus, the story elements of the ride can easily be updated since they're mostly digital - which means they could have a different variation of the ride to match future films. I'm excited to ride it myself.1 point

@pushbutton check back a few posts, the pancake menu has been posted. Yes they have regular pancakes with maple syrup. And surprised you've never heard of a Canadian pancake stack (with bacon). Pretty much available anywhere with decent breakfast options and very popular. So just popped in for a look. I like it. A lot of empty space as others have mentioned, but I'm all for it. Also here is some snaps of the non-pancake/brunch menu..1 point

I'm interested to see how Mack's NI loop turns out - the Maurer NI loop looks like it provides a decent amount of airtime at the top, but the Intamin one flattens out more.1 point

^ I much prefer non-inverting loops as you get a nice pop of airtime usually at the top. Interesting what you said re wheel choice.1 point

We know it's a non inverting loop just by looking at the track numbers. Most of the tightly twisted pieces in the carpark right now are numbered between the entry/exit pieces for this loop1 point

See I like that review but the end gets me. People need to stop saying it's more relevant than twilight zone because that ride is no way whatsoever relied on the twilight zone franchise for its appeal. This is version though 100% relies on Guardians and it will be as outdated as Back to the Future the ride in 10 years time.1 point

Dusty at Miceage has just reviewed the new ride and I found it well worth the read if anyone is interested. I pasted the summary below: Is this attraction perfect? No. But the attempts to dazzle with props, lighting and special effects goes a very long way in hiding the flaws. And the ride itself is high energy with fun music, beautiful digital animation, and a new set of drop sequences which will help keep guests engaged and wanting to return. The story is a simple one. The Guardians are trapped in cages by the Collector. Rocket has escaped and needs our help to free his friends. What could go wrong? Is this attraction better than Tower of Terror? That’s very hard for me to say, and I’m going to need to let some of the dazzle of this shiny new object wear off a bit before making a decision. But, whether it is better or not, it is fun. I REALLY enjoyed myself. They’ve managed to create an experience which is similar to the previous ride but with more energy, solid storytelling, and is relevant to a younger generation than the Twilight Zone. The ride opens to the public today and Disney is planning for epic lines (I heard they are prepared for 6 to 7 hour waits) OUCH!1 point

Well done to the 501st Legion and Dreamworld for another awesome annual event. Despite my family and I not being able to stay for long due to work commitments, we still had a great time today as always ☺️ The turnout today crowd wise was fabulous. Inside the park was clearly thriving and the carpark was nearly full when we left around 1pm. It was a great feeling to see it so busy, probably the busiest yet in my attendances since it reopened in Dec last year 😊 One thing, though... it seems Disney have come down hard on Dreamworld/501st Legion in regards to what they can and can't use for the event? Either that or they just didn't go bring in as many props this year 😕 There was definitely a lack of photobooths... last year they had the x2 speeder bikes, the trash compactor, the life-sized limited edition figurine box, as well as the four basic backdrops. Today however, there was just the latter and one x1 speeder bike. This was my only complaint, being a bit disappointed as I really loved the ones which had props to pose with. Otherwise we still had a great time, and I certainly can't diss anything that's run for such a good cause ❤️ Hopefully there will be more again next year ☺️ PS. Did anyone else happen to spot Chewbacca at all? I swear I didn't see him at all today, including during the parade. Dunno if I missed him, or if he just wasn't there 🤔1 point

Here's a question for you MickeyD from both yours and Santa's comments... How do you think this ride sits for anyone who HASN'T seen the films? I take your point about how the pre-show needs to set it up. But I think it won't have anywhere near the impact for someone who hasn't seen the film franchise as it will for those of us that has. Having said that, I don't think you needed to have seen one single episode of Twilight Zone for Tower of Terror to work because it really was a self contained/explained story. That's another point of difference I think Disney USUALLY has over Universal. Here I think you kinda need to have seen the film to appreciate the ride. Much like Harry Potter. In comparison I haven't seen Cars, and I don't think I'm missing anything from that ride experience as a result, and I mean who needs to have seen Song of the South in order to enjoy Splash Mountain, same with Indiana Jones. I think this is maybe the biggest reason this is falling flat for me... that and the fact I don't think it will be timeless like was mentioned above. Having said that the vast majority of people will probably LOVE it, so what does my opinion matter1 point
-
I thought this was a terrible idea when I first read about it, but after seeing it in action I actually take that back and don't agree with those who still sit in that boat. Sure, it doesn't have the nostalgia ToT did, or the same atmosphere that ride gave, but Disney certainly hasn't dropped the ball with theming, in fact I would dare say that they have upped their game with this ride. Okay, the Twilight Zone was popular, but it's getting quite old now and the youth of today are definitely going to jump for a GotG-themed ride over a Twilight Zone-themed ride. As @MickeyD said, it feels fun, and I think that's what Disneyland is all about. I do think I would've preferred to ride it as ToT, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with this ride, except for the whole "don't fix what's not broken" thing - but Disney has done it now, so I see no reason to complain because it still looks like a great ride.1 point

You've listed a bunch of great parts there. But they don't make a whole. It's all disjointed without one component tied to the next. Ask yourself this. If you were building this ride from scratch would you choose to use an elevator as the ride system? Ive no doubt it's a fun ride but it's a waste and not one part makes sense if you weren't just slapping this on something you already had. Full disclosure: I love the Guardians films so my dislike for this has nothing to do with the films. Like I said, should have gone into Star Tours1 point

So the ride is now open and here's my thoughts... I think it looks like the worst idea Disney ever had for a ride redo since Rocket Rods. What a fail, sure the theming and pre show is top notch, but the ride theme in no way fits the ride system and at the expense of what was an amazing ride and theme (albeit not as well executed as it's siblings). The original theme, story, experience, was pure Disney. This incarnation belongs at Universal, I'm left wondering where the 3D glasses and water spray is going to happen. The ride experience lacks any coherent story, suspense or just real 'WTF just happened' factor. I think it's best summed up by the sign out front, that's something I would expect to see in a Six Flags park. I'm actually shocked that they are opening Pandora and this biscuit at the same time. To me holding off and re theming Star Tours to Guardians would have made much more sense given the film is pretty much centred around flying on a space ship and foreign worlds, and the entire pre show/que could also be themed that way. That and the fact Star Tours makes little sense being in Tomorrowland once the new land opens. About as much sense as a giant Guardians tower makes in an old world Hollywood part of DCA which would be much more suited to say, and Old abandoned Glamorous Hotel.... hey wait a minute.1 point

Yeah... no. Maintenance and possibly a computer upgrade similar to what SFMM did with Superman at the absolute most. There would be no point upgrading the LSM's / Track at all.. it wouldn't be a financially wise decision in the slightest.1 point

Dreamworld was profitable. It was making Tens-of-Millions of dollars a year in profit. Those profits were not being re-invested back into the park. They were being used to build Main Event Bowling Alleys in the United States. It is exactly that lack of re-investment into maintenance, park safety, and staff training that Dreamworld now finds itself in a position with 3 major rides closed, another undergoing extensive maintenance and a damaged brand - at a time when their competitor is building the largest and most expensive single attraction at an Australian Theme Park. I'm not buying the 'poor Ardent - just trying to feed hungry mouths' nonsense for a second. If they had been re-investing in the park, instead of bowling alleys they wouldn't be having these problems at all. This is a self-made problem for Ardent and I suspect a lot of people on this forum believe Ardent haven't learned a thing from it.1 point

They are tree trunks, and the backdrop is currently being spray painted on. Also, lanterns have been added throughout the area1 point

Which seem to be all Ardent really care about sadly. Happy shareholders= bigger bonus for them.1 point

Why don't they just hire a couple of vapers to sit up there and blow smoke? Pay them in fidget spinners and you've got endless smoke effects1 point
-

-
@Theme Park Girl Wasn't the rumoured cause of the fire one of the spark machines (not smoke machines) they had running up the lift hill? There is no naked flame or spark generated by smoke machines (unless something goes really wrong, I had a cheap Chinese machine catch fire on me once), and there are alternative methods of generating 'smoke' - for example, the new effect used on Big Thunder Mountain at Disney parks is Co2 based, there is absolutely no heat involved using this style of smoke effect. In my opinion, you can't just completely rule out a smoke effect because there was a fire on the ride a long time ago... @Reanimated35 I've been around here a long time, so I'm very aware of what happened to the ride in the past. I wasn't questioning what happened, I was questioning why a smoke effect could just be ruled out.1 point
