Oh I'm sorry Alexis. I had no idea that the coloured lighting along the track had nothing to do with the theme - considering discussion of the theming for this coaster was strongly condemned in this thread, one would assume light bulbs/coloured LED lights couldn't be discussed either as it's clearly theme related! Can you kindly explain in fine detail the difference between discussing the theme of the coaster (which is related directly to the construction as per your logic) and the difference between the coloured light bulbs along the track are? I'd love to here your reasoning for the huge differences between theme discussion and construction discussion. Or.. will you just delete my comment because you cbf being wrong and don't wanna be caught breaking your own rules?

Not with a toddler? Because famously toddlers like to sleep in yeah? Here's the thing if you make an entrie train backwards that reduces capacity for the much more popular forwards facing seats, and you've got the issue of having a train down for maintainence which hasn't been addressed. The backwards train would also require a dickton of modification to have a full train of backwards seats. Having one of each is just not a well thought out idea. Realistically, there'll be challenges in managing it, but I think the length of the queue will sort out the demand issue for the back seat. "I kinda wanted to sit in the back but it's a 45min wait v a 10 min wait for a forward seat, don't think I'll bother" is a scenario that will play out a lot I reckon. I'm the sort of person who would have made the whole train forwards and would've bought a 3rd train so there's always 2 trains available, but you have to admit that the backwards gimmick has really captured the public's imagination, but I'd wait to see what acfually happens before making changes.

Nope no way. Do not light the whole track. Parts will start to fail and it will be a maintenance nightmare and look like shit. Stick to ground based flood lighting.

Talk about the physical lighting being installed belongs here yes. Talk about what they should have done, what we want them to do, and which department store sells the cheapest fairy lights - does that really fit here?

Or you know what? you've just bought the most expensive ride in the park's history - don't cheap out. Buy two trains. Commit to run both of them every day. have one completely forwards, one completely backwards, and save money by not needing four queues - you can just have two. I kinda feel like theres some long-distance-train-seat technology that could be used here - have each seating row about to pivot to face backwards or something. I get the 'working within existing technology' thing, and its complete pipe dream, i know. i know its unrealistic. I'm just so very disappointed that based on the park's track record, it will probably be several years before the queue for the back row is short enough for me to be able to ride it.

You could rectify the latter by having more theming along the track, like overhead gantries and "Brigestone Arches", chevron signs on the corners, a race control tower etc.

No need to of course, but it's still that few percent extra, like adding a non standard helix at the end of your SLC, or adding a dark ride before your 0-100 launch. Both of those coasters would have been almost as good without those things, but adding extras just pushes you over the top. I think the backwards seats just add even more awe to an already awesome ride, and capture a certain group of people who want even more. Nothing wrong with going above and beyond to wow your audience.....Did you notice how they did it as a kicker at the end of the trailer. People would have been sold on the ride before they even mentioned the backwards aspect. Its like how Steve Jobs used to do that "One more thing" at the end of his Keynote addresses.

But the point of backwards is "not being able to see what is coming". Seeing the track snake behind you gracefully is nice, but I don't think it is what makes it scary thing people want to try.

Please have a look at what's hanging under the Main Street roof at MW. I think they get used more than just for FN. Oh and fairy lights are used for more than Christmas trees. Have a look at cedar point.

When people speculate about theming, I think the gist of it is "was it batman or wonderwoman". Lighting is just a generic element...it doesn't tell the story.

Two reasons that doesn't work @Redboost. Firstly they can't physically put a second backwards row in. You'll notice in the renderings that it's the exact same chassis as the other carriages. All they've done is switched the first row of seats around and removed the second row because there's nowhere to put it. In order to keep engineering requirements and costs reasonable they're working within the confines of their existing, rigorously tested technology. Secondly you're expecting people to want to queue for considerably longer to experience the backwards seats, but then have half being forced to ride with an obstructed view? That sort of defeats much of the purpose of the experience. It's a good way to upset half of those willing to queue longer.

Dreamworld have gone the high end night events route before with their Tiger Island events. I wonder if $100 includes a basic drinks package and festive foods? It might be that rather than trying to compete with Movie World's model of ram the park with 6,000 or so people who paid piss all and don't get to spend in the park because of the crowds and leave cranky and annoyed, Dreamworld have gone the 'We'd rather have 1,500 who we know we've got $110 out of and know they'll leave happy. Put in perspective Outback Spectacular is $100 for the 'basic' dinner, a couple drinks and the show package. $110 for dinner drinks and a theme park with added entertainment, yeah maybe that might work as a value propisition to some. If it doesn't include anything extra then you'd be wanting a pretty amazing couple of headline acts. I hope it works, but it's probably a little out of my price range, and that's despite the fact I normally spend $40odd everytime I visit the place.

I sure as hell didn't go to Disney for the current film tie-ins. I went because it's a family friendly, magical and historic theme park. Getting a photo with Mickey, riding the train, wearing the mouse ears un-ironically, seeing the Dumbo ride, Carousel and walking through the Castle. Then came the next reason: rides. Disney Parks don't thrive because of current films. It helps, but it's only a fraction of the attraction. The magic of Disneyland for me reminded me of the magic I felt as a child visiting Dreamworld in the late 80s and early 90s. The fountain, main street, singing quartet, paddle steamer and bushranger show, Village Green and the Jamboree show. I now understand the leaked email and subsequent release on their focus of an experience of visiting Dreamworld. I long to see Gold Rush and Blue Lagoon turned into an RMC and well-themed Australiana area. I do, I want signature rides, but that's only ever been a small part of the magic Dreamworld gave me as a kid and teenager (in the way of Thunderbolt and Eureka). It's a bold step to take the park on this 'nostalgia' and 'memorable experience' route, to sever the cord on the thrills arms race against VRTP, and I guess history will only tell if it's the best move. An ARG would send this site nuts.

Not Tiger Island stage 2 related here but I saw this when I was at the park yesterday

Dreamworld was profitable. It was making Tens-of-Millions of dollars a year in profit. Those profits were not being re-invested back into the park. They were being used to build Main Event Bowling Alleys in the United States. It is exactly that lack of re-investment into maintenance, park safety, and staff training that Dreamworld now finds itself in a position with 3 major rides closed, another undergoing extensive maintenance and a damaged brand - at a time when their competitor is building the largest and most expensive single attraction at an Australian Theme Park. I'm not buying the 'poor Ardent - just trying to feed hungry mouths' nonsense for a second. If they had been re-investing in the park, instead of bowling alleys they wouldn't be having these problems at all. This is a self-made problem for Ardent and I suspect a lot of people on this forum believe Ardent haven't learned a thing from it.

I think enhancing a lackluster rise might be alright. But I mean a motion base and some fans could achieve pretty much the same result. I like the optional enhancement but for me personally I want to ride restored revolution in all its historical glory, not strap a phone to my head. I don't like the idea of it being compulsory.

Fairy lights are meant for Christmas trees not rollercoasters god dammit.

Did you really just compare Disneyland to Dreamworld? Disneyland has several annual blockbuster films (Pirates, Star Wars, Pixar, etc etc list goes on and on) which propel it's attendance every year not to mention the best back catalogue of any film company geared towards children. Yes, nostalgia works for Disneyland because of that back catalogue of characters and films they get to work with but Disneyland also continues to thrive because of their use of CURRENT Disney-films. Dreamworld has none of that to fall back on. Nostalgia will not work for them, I'm absolutely sorry to say. They need to keep with the times or they will be left behind - just like Wonderland was.

I've actually been on 2 B&Ms and enjoyed them. I mean they must be good if everyone raves about them.

Yesterday there were three maintenance workers seen walking into the log ride area, they entered the area and were looking at it a lot, just staring, talking and yelling at each other.

Hey Jake - wasn't specifically referring to your post, but the two after it simply referencing a product, and it's cost, without labour. Oh i'm sorry - I didn't realise you were a moderator. You did notice TWO of them continued the discussion here, right? Lights can also come under construction - since lights are part of the construction... Do you need a hand out of the backseat?
