  1. Area constraints. (It's both the lift hill and first drop supports) As you can see there's not much room, the park needs to retain the emergency entrance road to the left, and obviously can't reroute the main entry road. (and yes, they COULD reroute it, but it's not exactly financially feasible, nor required) So yeah, hopefully that's a decent enough answer.

  2. Your update for the 10th of June 2017. (and probably my largest so far) Comparison Photo 1 (Stengel/Inclined-Dive Loop): Non-Inverted Loop is becoming more and more visible with each passing week. Comparison Photo 2 (Non-Inverted Loop/Pretzel Helix): They positioned the construction vehicles in the worst possible places. So here's an alternate angle on the loop. Lift Hill: Green Lantern = Current Lift Hill Height Storage Lot: In-Park: In park shots will be so much easier once Lantern has reopened. Footbridge: Other Shots:

  3. Maybe it's just my reddit elitism, but why are we downvoting someone just because we don't agree with them? Save it for when people post incoherent garbage, not well spoken opinion. I don't agree with getting rid of the refill station, but it's a good point that soft drink is actually pretty bad for your health, it's a valid concern. I'm not really in the know as I usually only buy soft drink at parks, but what alternatives do MW offer (besides water).

  4. It is a great location for what is coming. Wait and see! I doubt it will underwhelm.

  5. I have them the benefit of the doubt last Monday as it wasn't finished but now I'm not. This screams of we ran out of money. The unfinished gal beams for the roof, the flag green walls. Come on that's half assing it best and makes it look like a shitty zoo exhibit. Does the front facade still have that awkward bit of bare galvanized support sticking out at the end?

  6. Yeah I don't get all the back row anger. If you don't like it just done ride in the backwards row. It will in no way affect your time in the house. **note if any idiot decides they feel the need to pedantically point out that it affects 2 people per cycle capacity so it does affect them I will ban you for one week

  7. This reminds of when VR got added to Arkham Asylum. Folks went into an over-analytical nose-dive about how this would be the end of Arkham Asylum's capacity. Here's a shocker though (pun intended), it really didn't change, the world kept spinning, everyone here loves VR and now six months later we're finding a new thing to whinge about. Honestly, how this is a thing is beyond me. For those who just can't shake the thought of backwards seats, here's a two step guide on how to deal with it. Dealing with backwards seating: A Guide Step 1) Ignore it and go about your day. Step 2) If you're still worried about it and the fact that it may make your wait-time longer, set your alarm earlier and get to Movie World before everyone else.

  8. I don't think healthy food is too much of an issue at our parks. Typically, you only buy one meal (Lunch) and if you are buying sweets etc, it's because you want that food, not for sustenance. If I'm eating park food, it's a cheat meal, and you can eat a healthy brekky and dinner when you get home. At MW you can get sandwiches at the Main St Deli, wrap at Village Bean, and the build your own burritos at DHB has lean grilled meat and plenty of vegetables and salsas served with it. There's a Village Bean at WnW too, but WnW only has a couple of food outlets anyway. At DW, they've got sandwiches at that sandwich bar, and at Green Bean, and I guess you could eat at the Buffet and stick to healthier options there. At SW, there's Village bean, that healthy food place at the top terrace near the entrance. I don't know the menu well enough at dockside, but another option is just to eat at the Resort. As for drinks, well water is literally the most ubiquitous option since just about every gift shop has a small drink fridge. Anything else has sugar (Except maybe Bepis Max / Conke Zero) Please nobody say juice bar is a real option. Thats basically a liquid meal, and not what you get when you dehydrated and want to quench yourself. PS, I want parks here to sell the old style non fizzy lemonade like you can get at the US parks...That was my go to item.

  12. @Gazza if MW are not competing with any other Hypercoaster in Australia why does MW think it is worthwhile to gimmick up Australia’s first Hypercoaster by turning 2 seats around and reduce the capacity of the ride? Does MW really think that people are going to say “Oh. I didn't want to ride a Hyper before but now I do because I can go backward”

  13. My 'go to' meal at Adventure World is Mark's famous Caesar Salad. I think a lot of parents can't believe how healthy some of the options are. The prices are very reasonable compared to the east coast parks, but even better after the 25% member discount.

  15. Yes it is true that the different sugars react differently in the body, but it is to such a small degree. Especially the simple sugars; glucose and fructose (fruit sugars). That one is no better or worse than the other. (By the way lactose is the "milk sugar" not glucose 😉) Fruit juices (boost included) are by far a worse option than soft-drinks. Most people view them as healthy and don't realise how much sugar is packed into them and therefore don't feel as "bad" for consuming them. Its like the people that say they put honey in their tea because it's healthier than sugar. (Honey actually contains more calories than standard table sugar)

  16. I agree getting the balance right on healthier food and drink in a theme park environment is a challenge. However it's a challenge I would like to see taken on board by the parks. Installing yet another place to top up those ridiculously oversized plastic bottles they sell is not a good start. It can be done! Don't want to make the whole thread about this. I was merely expressing my view on it as an aside since it was brought up that another drink refill station is being installed.

  17. @xRazzBerryx The hill will definitely be higher than the loop, but I'm guessing it won't be much higher if they're going for real ejector air. The air at the top of the loop will probably have to be more floater. If I have to put a number to it, if the loop is 40m tall then then maybe the hill will be about 45. 18. Would depend on the individual layout I would expect. Each peak needs to be lower than the previous one of course, but losses due to wheel friction and air resistance need to be factored in too. If there was say 300m (to exaggerate) between peaks, you'd have much greater losses of energy than with 30m between peaks.

  19. It says on RCDB that the N-I-Loop will be 131ft high (40m). This got me thinking, will that mean the airtime hill will be about 50m high? Obviously going off estimated heights but It could be, Drop - 61m Airtime Hill - 50m N-I-Loop - 40m Stengel Dive - 30m Then the rest of the track after the turn around is pretty low to the ground anyway. Not sure how it all works, does anyone know? Or does it depend on the coaster/Manufacturer etc?

  20. I agree with mostly everything, but the things you mention for all those other rides are not gimmicks, they're fundamental parts of the ride. Making an entire ride and then turning one row of seats backwards is a gimmick. It's probably just the coaster nerd inside of me who's resistant to change and having a pointless whinge, but it really feels wrong having a coaster that looks so brilliant by itself trying so hard to make itself look better. Bitch you already perfect <3

  23. How do you know they're not doing all they can? I agree though, the amount of closed rides isn't good. We may know the rides are under more scruitiny than ever, but all joe public sees are closed rides. Getting the log ride open will help quite a lot there, but for now 4 (or 6 dependong on how you're counting) of the rides down isn't best foot forward type stuff.

  24. I can't understand why they are not doing absolutely everything possible to get Wipeout re-opened. This ride was alone responsible for turning DW around when the park was having financial difficulties many years back. When you've got such a large chunk of the park out of action, it makes no sense to leave your major flats languishing. They should be doing whatever it takes to get all existing rides up and running. Maybe they are, but it doesn't really look like it.

  26. At DW now.. Wipeout is looking as sad as ever. I hope a plan is approved for repainting the entire ride and wave because it sure needs it. ToT is sort of 'jumping' and sort of surges into top speed about half way up the tube. It's also slow and rumbling as it reaches the station. Definitely feels like a patch job to get operational. The ride system is in obvious need of some love in the way of new tech and upgrades. The enhancements to Tiger Island are purely that. Enhancements. I am unsure why this final section took so long but as a whole the area looks great and worthy of a good amount of time spent on any visit.

  27. The posted article makes it sounds like Dreamworld are poised to invest heavily in new attractions, yet when it gets down to the details, they are really just talking about the new shops and 'experiences' that have mostly already opened. So nothing new announced, apart from the re-opening of log ride, which is definitely a positive. I have to admit I was totally wrong about the log ride -- I made fun of people on here for suggesting it would re-open when all signs pointed to it being shut for good. Happy to eat my words! I do hope the slight resurgence of park visitors in May is a sign of things to come. But Ardent are going to have to do much more to get numbers back to where they were before. It will definitely take significant investment, but if they commit to it I think it will be worth it. The new coaster at MW will be a big boost to the GC and will help to reignite interest in the parks, so DW will undoubtedly feel the flow-on effects. I've come to realise the parks all benefit from each other being around, so let's hope they all stay strong.

  28. You could rectify the latter by having more theming along the track, like overhead gantries and "Brigestone Arches", chevron signs on the corners, a race control tower etc.

  29. Last pic I took of it was this one on May 27th. When we visited the park last week, it looked no different. Still completely gutted and pulled apart.

  30. I absolutely adored Tower of Terror at DCA and was shocked/saddened/upset when I heard they were changing the theme. But after watching a half-a-dozen or so onride videos and queue walkthroughs of Mission Breakout - I can say that I am pleasantly surprised. My opinions might change when I ride it IRL, but I honestly think they did a really good job. Is Guardians better than the original?? Probably not. Is it worse than the original? Probably not. Tbh I don't think either is better than the other, because of the very different emotions, atmosfear and theme the 2 rides present/presented. I loved the mystery and haunted atmosfear that ToT conveyed, and how the ride system melded so perfectly with the storytelling. But I also love this new sci/fi, humorous adventure that really brings YOU into the story - you are apart of the prison breakout - you get to help. The ride has a very energetic vibe to it, compared to ToT. Plus their is now greater re-rideability with the different audio tracks and drop sequences. I've never been on the original Tower Of Terror at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. Everyone claims that this version is the superior; and I would have to agree after watching this really damn good POV of the ride: I'm very glad this version still exists, and it on my bucket list. I love, love, love how the elevator cars move in and out of the lift shafts by themselves. A marvel of engineering and storytelling for a ride that opened in 1994!! IMO, the ride system is impressive even in 2017.

  34. @jake_hunt & @MaxxTheMonster Are correct that Dreamworld does lack the staff to pull off a parade... But... Lotte World in Seoul has 2 daily parades. A lunchtime parade currently themed to Carnivale, and an Evening Parade that features light floats, performers, and illuminated synchronised drones (I'm not joking) that I actually enjoyed more than Disney's parades. A bit of Background info... Lotte World is the world's largest indoor theme park. It has a number of indoor rides, and as well as 'Magic Island' which has some outdoor rides. For the smaller lunchtime parade, some of the rides are closed (mostly children's rides) and the staff perform in the parade (as well as some professional dancers etc.) For the Evening Parade, almost all of the interior rides close and the staff perform in the parade, and the park resumes normal operations after the show. People are still free to line-up for rides during this time, but the rides don't operate until the parade ends. Dreamworld could follow this model, but the Parade would need to be a feature. The parade wouldn't just need to be better than any single attraction in the park, it would need to be better than every attraction in the park, otherwise people would just get pissed off. Lotte World's parade is so spectacular that no one really cares if the rides aren't operating for an hour. The even sell 'after 4pm' tickets that don't include rides because people go just to see the Parade.

  35. Dreamworld was profitable. It was making Tens-of-Millions of dollars a year in profit. Those profits were not being re-invested back into the park. They were being used to build Main Event Bowling Alleys in the United States. It is exactly that lack of re-investment into maintenance, park safety, and staff training that Dreamworld now finds itself in a position with 3 major rides closed, another undergoing extensive maintenance and a damaged brand - at a time when their competitor is building the largest and most expensive single attraction at an Australian Theme Park. I'm not buying the 'poor Ardent - just trying to feed hungry mouths' nonsense for a second. If they had been re-investing in the park, instead of bowling alleys they wouldn't be having these problems at all. This is a self-made problem for Ardent and I suspect a lot of people on this forum believe Ardent haven't learned a thing from it.

  36. Actually, if you look at the the track profile, most of the sharp turns are placed at the high points in the ride (so far), so the coaster will actually lose a lot of speed at the top of the loop, at the top of the Stengel Dive, and just before the turnaround which will reduce the lateral G forces on those twists to what you would experience on Jet Rescue at Sea World. So far, the High-Speed turns (like the S-Bend) are profiled to have heart-line offset banking. So, the G-forces look more forceful than your experience of them, because the coaster 'turns' on the z-axis at your chest height, not at the track height. The forces are more like Slalom Skiing than a chair tipping over. (That's probably a crap analogy, but it's the best I can think of). It also is hugging the ground a lot, so it will feel faster than it is. Force wise (based only on the build so far), I believe if Superman Escape and Jet Rescue had a baby, this coaster would be it.

  38. Glad they've got rid of those brick planters. They were not very nice to look at, and definitely not nice to sit and relax on (always had to search for a patch not that wasn't white due to bird droppings!) Good to see additional sheltered seating, ideally placed next to main street so you can now grab something to eat / drink and relax and watch the entertainment while you do so. I am not so pleased to hear of yet another soft drink refill station. It's cheap for Movie World to implement I know, but it's encouraging people (mainly kids) to drink far too much soft drink. Terrible for their health. Would be great to see some better alternatives offered, although it is nice to know there are free water fountains around the park. Just not presented in the same enticing way though.

  39. The TVs could just be on a loop and have been on auto-play since the inmates caused havoc. This is the second thread tonight that's made me realise why we as a community can't have nice things. Folks want to pick apart the dumbest things that are the very thing that the parks giggle at us about. Theme parks are about fun and happiness. If you're over-analysing queue line videos for the purposes of bitching without offering anything positive or constructive, or you're nitpicking something as awesome as backward seating on a roller-coaster ( a roller-coaster, might I add, that's so big, it's the very thing we collectively have wanted since these forums started) and you're only whinging because you're worried about waiting for too long, maybe theme parks and having fun isn't for you.
