  1. Just a quick update, Rivals is already as tall as Green Lantern. This will be an absolute monster. Can't wait to see the lift hill topped off. I've thrown in the best photos below, if you want some silly captions and less amazing shots you can go here.

  2. At least at Dreamworld you can still do things you can't do in Main Street anymore...

  3. Rode the west side today. Definitely working. 10/10. Would ride again.

  4. I also don't think you'd effectively fit a completely new coaster within the confines of the current mountain unless you completely gutted it and started again, also taking note that there is damage to current facade as noted a few weeks back from the Cyclone a couple months back. For me if you've gotta gut the moutain and install new track and get new trains, why bother? Demolish the whole precinct minus Buzzsaw and start again

  5. But you could always and already do this in The Lair! I know, I proposed to my wife infront of Nika in the Lair caverns..

  6. Have had a go at adding a few Aussie World photos tonight. Apologies for any errors or inconsistencies due to Drunk Strop being in charge from 10pm onwards. Related question: "Do you need to blur ALL children's faces, or just the faces of the ones you didn't make yourself?"

  7. You've got the wrong park, I'm only able to use my imagination at Dreamworld.

  8. As Eureka discussion keeps popping up in other threads, I thought I'd revive this thread. My interpretation of DW's CEO mentioning they're "looking at" bringing back the "mine ride" as: that they're looking at a new ride. I agree with others who have said it's tied too much into TRRR's infrastructure; the track and interior is likely not salvageable; and might not be insurable. If the replacement mine ride goes into the same site, in or around a new mountain, there's now more height to work with. Going by the picture by Parkz below, if the lake is removed with TRRR, the Mine ride could go all the way down to even below the current waterline. Image from Parkz - Original use here. For posterity, here's recent threads that mention Eureka/'Mine Ride': - Dreamworld Focuses on Iconic, Memorable Experiences in 2017 - Storm damage of Eureka Mountain (loosely related).

  9. I'm really hoping with Wipeout that they just don't have a definite date for the maintenance so they have decided to put closed on there instead rather than having to keep constantly chaning the dates and dissapointing guests. What I think has happened is after the audit that took a very long time, that Dreamworld would have recieved feedback and findings that need to be fixed, repaired or replaced and it's taking a long time, the ride itself is quite complex. Maybe Vekoma/3rd partys are making and sending parts from the Netherlands? Maybe the work behind the scenes is a lot and is just taking more time than originally thought? Considering the Wipeouts age, I would think Dreamworld are taking no chances and are doing everything that the audit has told them to do with recommendations and feedback to ensure that it is as safe as it possibily can be. I hope when it reopens it looks brand new again as it did 2 and a half years ago after the massive refurb it had. The Wipoeut is a classic, there is nothing else like it with the uniqueness and the scenery and the park would sound dull without those gearbox noises . The Wipeouts day will come for retirement but I and I hope Dreamworld believe there is still a lot of life ahead for the beast.

  11. Did you need a black pot to go with your kettle mate? Just get over your buthurt about two friken seats on a train. Who cares. Stop flogging the issue that no sane person should possibly care about. How do you know the train wasn't going to be 2 seats shorter and they in fact ADDEDD capacity for backwards.

  12. And this whole thread is why the Parks find this to be a big joke and a great lunch time story ๐Ÿ˜‚ @Slick The park appreciates everything you do and give 100% and also deliver great products! The guys who need to give their two cents don't matter and just jealous of how much the Parks respect your work and why they continue asking you back! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป I don't comment on these threads often, I find it more humorous to read, but I can't let you tear into someone for their great work.

  13. Next time I'll be sure to recommend the park to spend ten times the budget to satiate something so ridiculously minor that no one but you will ever think of. Seriously, in pretend make belief world, of which this exists in, the tv's could just be a live feed that the nurse takes over. So far, I've squashed two of your over-analytical brain dumps with two very simple rationales. Time to drop it mate. Ill say this again, we're so lucky that parks go to the effort to bother try and do new things, especially when the reception from their loyal fans is nothing but criticism. And to put any doubts at rest, I'm not Robb Alvey, I don't give a crap who likes or doesn't like me or my work, frankly, putting yourself out there in the world requires having a thick skin. I have no time for animosity or holding grudges. What's actually giving me the shits is this attitude folks here on the forums have cultivated lately. Chillout, have a beer, remember this isn't Disney, and keep in mind that when you're just negative for the sake or being negative without offering anything of merit to justify a critical opinion, you're bumming everyone else out about theme parks, a place about fun and happiness. TLDR: Stop it. Theme parks are about fun. Quit nitpicking and appreciate you're not starving in a third world country.

  14. The TVs could just be on a loop and have been on auto-play since the inmates caused havoc. This is the second thread tonight that's made me realise why we as a community can't have nice things. Folks want to pick apart the dumbest things that are the very thing that the parks giggle at us about. Theme parks are about fun and happiness. If you're over-analysing queue line videos for the purposes of bitching without offering anything positive or constructive, or you're nitpicking something as awesome as backward seating on a roller-coaster ( a roller-coaster, might I add, that's so big, it's the very thing we collectively have wanted since these forums started) and you're only whinging because you're worried about waiting for too long, maybe theme parks and having fun isn't for you.

  15. @xRazzBerryx The hill will definitely be higher than the loop, but I'm guessing it won't be much higher if they're going for real ejector air. The air at the top of the loop will probably have to be more floater. If I have to put a number to it, if the loop is 40m tall then then maybe the hill will be about 45. 16. @djrappa Youโ€™re a tosser. Donโ€™t forget to add itโ€™s a "cheap-ass" way of doing it gimmick that affects 2 people per cycle capacity.

  17. Yeah I don't get all the back row anger. If you don't like it just done ride in the backwards row. It will in no way affect your time in the house. **note if any idiot decides they feel the need to pedantically point out that it affects 2 people per cycle capacity so it does affect them I will ban you for one week

  18. I don't understand why you're against the backwards facing row? Its not as if it does nothing, it adds a completely different experience to the ride. Just like the joker head at the top of the lift hill it's something innovative and gives the coaster it's own unique identity. They haven't really compromised anything on the operation of the ride to add this feature so what's the problem? As Gazza mentioned there's nothing wrong with going above and beyond to wow your audience. It's like complaining about the lottery giving you 2 million instead of 1.5 million. *confused look*

  19. And this has been VRTP's strategy for a long time, and it's darn impressive. Not only do they build the best attractions in Australia, they continually push the manufacturers to go one step further. It creates really unique quality products. They don't have to do it, but they continually over deliver.

  20. No need to of course, but it's still that few percent extra, like adding a non standard helix at the end of your SLC, or adding a dark ride before your 0-100 launch. Both of those coasters would have been almost as good without those things, but adding extras just pushes you over the top. I think the backwards seats just add even more awe to an already awesome ride, and capture a certain group of people who want even more. Nothing wrong with going above and beyond to wow your audience.....Did you notice how they did it as a kicker at the end of the trailer. People would have been sold on the ride before they even mentioned the backwards aspect. Its like how Steve Jobs used to do that "One more thing" at the end of his Keynote addresses.

  21. This reminds of when VR got added to Arkham Asylum. Folks went into an over-analytical nose-dive about how this would be the end of Arkham Asylum's capacity. Here's a shocker though (pun intended), it really didn't change, the world kept spinning, everyone here loves VR and now six months later we're finding a new thing to whinge about. Honestly, how this is a thing is beyond me. For those who just can't shake the thought of backwards seats, here's a two step guide on how to deal with it. Dealing with backwards seating: A Guide Step 1) Ignore it and go about your day. Step 2) If you're still worried about it and the fact that it may make your wait-time longer, set your alarm earlier and get to Movie World before everyone else.

  23. Haha don't get your knickers in a knot, for someone that doesn't care what anyone think your sure are getting worked up about it. It is clear you were proud of the work produced., the reception has been critical yes, but only because I and others here have seen a far greater potential. If you truly feel that to reach that potential you would have needed 10 times the budget then I would suggest that Movie World find someone else to make such videos in the future.
