  1. Gumbuya Park will be re-born this summer as "Gumbuya World" Phase 1 is around $40m. Note: "Oz Venture Park" is not the new name for the Park,as reported in some media today, but was a work in progress name suggested by others before my limited involvement.

  5. Yes, because you can still see them in your imagination Was I the only one who first thought "why are Dreamworld building a shark enclosure?" when I first saw the title?

  6. A few stills of the important bits. This is an interesting outcome, and looks like in years to come it will be Adventure Park, OzVenture and Funfields that will end up being the three major parks in greater Melbourne...They are all at the stage of buying fairly large attractions from well known manufacturers. Luna Park needs to step up bit though. They could be Australia's Grona Lund if they invested in some better rides.

  7. Here's the Seven News story on it (although they refer to it as Oz-venture World). Shows some more detail about some of the attractions. As someone that lives in the South East, it's great to see Gumbuya Park getting a very long overdue revamp!

  8. Not sure if this has been shared, but found a video on YouTube of a Seaworld promotional video that you could purchase at the park, in 1990. Before I was even born! Shows Corkscrew, pirate ship, Lassiter's etc. It even has your donkey, @Theme Park Girl

  9. I started watching and didn't get through it. Everytime they mentioned Disney I had a little cringe and they just wouldn't stop going on about it. Reckon the fact that the development is 2 thirds residential is probably worth a mention to. Despite that the development does seem like it's based on Dreamworld actually being there so as long as that's the case I'm cool with it.

  10. Yeah, but that's kind of like saying that the first stock factory camry off the production line is the sleekest fastest biggest and roomiest 2017 Camry in the world... however - that argument also works that it's the slowest, shortest and only hypercoaster in the southern hemisphere.

  11. It doesn’t have to reach 161km/hr to beat Rivals it only needs to go 115.1km/hr The GD is 119 high so it only need to go 2 metres past halfway of the tower to beat Rivals. If the ToT still beats these stats and I don’t know if it does, then it would be great if DW grew a set and disputed MW claims. DW should run an ad campaign. “Still the fastest” “Still The tallest” "First to go Backwards"

  15. That makes no sense from a liability or safety stand point. Either ride is safe and doesn't need an extra restraint, or it's unsafe and does need one. You don't just decide to increase ride safety on your own for no reason, and authorities don't become aware of a safety flaw and leave it optional to do something about it. Neither do insurance companies.

  17. ^If Mick Doohans had a high point. Also, why is the launch tunnel all space age themed? I was under the impression it was to have a sea rescue theme like ours?

  18. After a little digging, and without any other proof than some google searches, I have a suspicion it might be to do with the expansion of Gumbaya Park: http://www.gumbuya.com.au/ The main page on the website states that Gumbaya Park is changing with new attractions coming soon. It is approx. 1hr 15mins from Melb. Airport as stated in a previous post. The tags on the thread say Theme Park, Water Park, Animals.. which Gumbaya park has their zoo, some rides and other attractions. The most compelling evidence is google states on Mark Shaw's linkedin that he is currently consulting for Gumbaya Park. This is purely speculation on my behalf, based on some brief browsing.

  19. Hi all, I've found a video that has a snippet of a Eureka POV. It also shows some footage of some old rides at Dreamworld and I thought it was worth a share. Park footage begins at 5:34 and Eureka POV begins at 18:06
