  2. I'm sorry but this sun going down early in winter is killing my photos. This was @ 5:30pm last night. Poor IPhone, I asked a lot from it here. N-I_Loop construction continues. Update to my update. (Lucky for everybody, I had a site meeting at Pac Pines today)

  3. Lots of new stuff popping up on Main street for this event starting over the weekend 😁 Sorry the one below turned out a bit blurry! Didn't realise till I'd left (d'oh) Sneaky sneak peek through the divider gaps lol...

  4. Cheers @xRazzBerryx 😁 One thing that made me happy today was to finally see the purpose of that randomly placed support base that was sitting out in the garden bed in the carpark! And what a very important job it has 😁 Then: Now:

  5. Wow I've never seen someone drink so much cool aid before. A hotel near dreamworld will hurt their numbers because people will go down the road to Movie World instead? How do people come up with this shit?

  7. All on a separate note I am sleeping out in the cold of the MCG tomorrow night to raise money and awareness for homelessness through the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. If you fancy a small donation I will recognise it here on Parkz. www.ceosleepout.org,au then search mark shaw and donate. Thanks in advance people!

  8. Moved the CEO Sleepout to its own topic so we can give this the attention it deserves for the next day or so.

  9. Even if it's bigger, i think if they were to put a hyper in, it would just scream copycat. they need something that really says 'i'm different to whats down the road' without being a one-trick pony. A really nice woodie or hybrid would suit this perfectly.

  10. lol. And thanks @Jdude95 FOR YOUR KIND DONATION. Thank you @loki75 for your very generous donation just now! Parkz guys are doing me proud today! Thanks on behalf of Vinnies.

  11. Surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, but really getting sick of the media taking every park proposal \ expansion and turning it around to say <locality> answer to Disneyland! I silently scream at them. FML.

  12. So I hear that a roller coaster is in the plan... http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/daggy-gumbuya-park-to-get-50-million-makeover-20170621-gwvjdj.html Any hints as to what that might be?

  13. Gumbuya Park will be re-born this summer as "Gumbuya World" Phase 1 is around $40m. Note: "Oz Venture Park" is not the new name for the Park,as reported in some media today, but was a work in progress name suggested by others before my limited involvement.

  14. Gravity group look to do a steel support with wooden track so can't see why that wouldn't be an option to lower costs associated with maintenance.

  15. ...building a Woodie/Hybrid would be fine, DW will have new owners by the time major maintenance would be required.

  16. I've read this, and don't need to read any more. People are going to Dreamworld. That's the point. End of discussion.

  17. Oh, and for those who don't like reading small writing, here's a close up on the shipping container and what it's offering - a new upcharge option for kids to get a complete Hero or Villain makeover for $59 😮 From the fine print underneath, it does appear to have an age limit on it though (2-13 I think? My phone won't zoom in enough haha) 😛

  21. Kool-Aid will do that to you. Yesterday the G.C.C.C. met and voted on the hotel adjacent to DW. The application was for changes to the Coomera Master Plan. The council voted in favour of the changes to the Town Plan and now the hotel can move onto the next stage in getting this thing off the ground.

  22. @Gazza the name is "Gumbuya World" not "Oz Venture Park" someone boobed! Big thanks to @IWERKS for a very generous donation to the CEO sleepout last night. Iwerks has supported my efforts every year I think? Also thanks to Jassup for your donation. Every donation counts and it is tonight folks so if you want to help those struggling on the streets, kids/wives who run away from home because of violent homes or gambling addicted fathers.....many reasons for people to find themselves on the streets and they need our help. www.ceosleepout.org.au then search mark shaw.

  25. Great news on this-its fantastic to see a new major player rise in the market!! The plans look good and if it has @Mark Shaw involvement, even at a limited capacity, then you can be assure of quality!! Victoria is shaping up to become a good destination for visiting medium parks that are expanding at a good rate! @Gazza is completely correct RE Luna Park. It needs a similar investment , and given its history and location, has the potential to be a world class historical fun park. Gazza mentioned Grona Lund but I would liken LPM's appeal as being similar to Dreamland , Margate. Lindsay Fox you are on extreme notice!

  26. Nine News has also done a news story on the Gumbuya World revamp. Looks promising! Very excited. Here are some screenshots from the video, showing more concept art of attraction entrances, waterslide towers and an overall site plan of the park. Front Entrance Concept Art Zoo/Animal Area Entrance Sign Concept Art Park Plan View. Looks like the waterpark area will include a lazy river and White Water West slide tower. I wonder if that whole waterpark area, zoo and entrance will be ready for Summer this year (December 1st opening)? 2 x White Water West 4-person tube slides confirmed. One will be a Bomerango slide, the other a Constrictor/Rattler hybrid. Looks to be a fantastic slide tower.

  27. A few stills of the important bits. This is an interesting outcome, and looks like in years to come it will be Adventure Park, OzVenture and Funfields that will end up being the three major parks in greater Melbourne...They are all at the stage of buying fairly large attractions from well known manufacturers. Luna Park needs to step up bit though. They could be Australia's Grona Lund if they invested in some better rides.

  28. Funny you should mention that... Only partially Eureka related but this seemed the best thread to post this in. I was at DW today and noticed surveyors and maintenance guys all through the gold rush area. I went on the buzzsaw and noticed surveyors doing some work around the TRRR station as well. Completely unrelated I think I also spotted a wild @Slick roaming around the park today.

  29. Not sure if this has been shared, but found a video on YouTube of a Seaworld promotional video that you could purchase at the park, in 1990. Before I was even born! Shows Corkscrew, pirate ship, Lassiter's etc. It even has your donkey, @Theme Park Girl

  30. "Still the tallest, still the fastest, first to go backwards" would be an amazing ad to run. So long as they don't draw the direct comparison and don't mention what's going on down the road at all I think it's totally fine.

  31. Lassiters was my fave ride as a kid. Will never forget that memory of the Donkey hanging from the roof in a bucket 😁 ETA: loved that flying fox in the kids area of WNW back in the day as well ☺️

  33. Yes, because you can still see them in your imagination Was I the only one who first thought "why are Dreamworld building a shark enclosure?" when I first saw the title?

  34. But what accent will they use?

  35. I can't blame them for knee jerk reactions at this point tbh. If there is a design flaw I wonder who designed the modifications, as I can't imagine DW would be in the mood to take on the liability that comes with modifying restraints, and again if it's a design flaw I wonder if Zamperla might be working on a fix. As for the longer dispatch times, yeah it's shit but honestly can't see that making a huge impact on guests given where attendance is at.

  36. I mean good on DW for trying to make their rides safer, but was this really necessary? Looks like all it's going to achieve is overcomplicate loading

  38. Did not @Gazza's post of Adventure Park's location being 1 hr and 15 min also from the airport clue you in?? Also to the fact that Adventure Park is well established and has already announced planned for expansion attractions. Gumbaya Park seems to me a little too small for this, despite Mark Shaw's involvement with the park. Adventure Park seems like a better fit for this announcement. Also the time frames do not add up for mine for a completely new park- mid November would be extremely tight to open a brand new park from scratch if they have just started clearing the land. My bet is Adventure Park. Either way , looking forward to seeing more info about this one!

  41. When I went on Wednesday there were maintenance guys tightening bolts on the support and replacing the wheels on the lift hill. So I'm assuming the go with it, is that it's undergoing maintenance.

  42. I would hope that any plans to develop apartments/accommodation and shopping would also take into account improving the park as well - with Dreamworld the way it is at the moment with its offerings, chances are people staying at the hotel will just hop onto a bus and travel down the road to VR's offerings (MW, WW, OS, TG, PC) after discovering DW has nothing else to offer them. You're basically going to add to VR's numbers, which will further exacerbate DWs attendance if VR get their plans underway for hotel/shopping redevelopment.
