  1. Thank you for giving me the chance to talk about the cooperation with VRTP! I really enjoyed creating the simulation and I hope you all enjoyed watching the trailer. And sorry for not giving you any updates on my simulation, but you may now understand why I was not able to do so.

  5. For those who want to see it: Nice they're doing incremental updates like this, but for the love of allah that mic situation needs to be rectified. I'm pretty sure there's a Rode mic for an iPhone and a DJI Osmo floating around somewhere... #elevateyourproduction #wouldlovetoseemoreengagement #goodjobsofar #justwantthebestitsnothingpersonal

  6. Now why am I not surprised to read this? And see.... his rendition IS spot on!!!! Congrats @docoaster, have been a huge fan of your work from the very beginning and this opportunity for you was truly deserved. I can only hope that you'll also get the opportunity to come over to the GC to check the coaster out first hand when it opens to the public PS. @Richard when does this guy get his prize in the mail?

  7. So this explains why in our time of need, the hero we needed was busy being a hero for VRTP.

  8. *facepalm* I can't believe I didn't make that connection. Stupendous @docoaster, well done and kudos to you!

  9. Yeah neither of those comments above is true. The park hasn't released the cost at all. And let me tell you if it was 35 million it would most definitely be a total project cost and not just for the ride.

  10. The only non-inverting loop I rode was on Sky Scream at Holiday Park. It was really forceless and forgettable. But this looks really different! Different shaping, probably different pace and certainly longer trains. Judging by the shape of the element, it would not provide a lot of airtime (if any), but a lot of furious laterals instead! I also expect the loop to ride quite differently whether you sit at the front or the back. I truly gotta give credit to Mack here. They're trying something new and push the envelope every time!

  11. Don't pay the money yet. I think its defiantly not a Zamperla Discovery Revolution but an Intamin Gyro Swing. If you look at the Zamperla model this is the footings. The 4 main supports are a long way away from the main centre point where Intamins are close like the Near Maps image. Compared to the Claw. Hopefully they have opted for the new Intamin Lap Bar restraints for the Gyro Swing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qonUju5gpA

  12. Geez. It was intended to be a joke, @AlexB... I thought the smilies would make that obvious enough The guy has already dealt with enough past critique. Let him enjoy his moment here, he's earnt it

  13. Shanks shallot Hadn't seen that posted before so assumed it didn't exist. I'd hope VRTP put @docoaster on plane and seat him on the first public ride!

  14. Yeah but the Spit's always been a bit of a hot topic (I expect the current cruise terminal and integrated resort though will proceed). I don't think anyone cares much about what gets built in Nerang and you don't meet too many people who hate the theme parks. We'll see I guess. I'm not some massive fan of Chinese park operators, I think they have a long way to go to meet Western standards (though they are trying which is good), but I mean they paid $66 million for the land, they are buying a $1 billion dollar parcel of land up the road, they've met with the PM and TT on multiple occasions, and they are spending hundreds of thousands lodging a DA, they're not exactly some guys trying to get a snow park started on kickstarter! Now it might lead to nothing, but then it might not;) There was a site that had some early concept stuff for Songcheng's Norwell, they called it 'New Norwell', really interesting stuff but then they pulled it, probably not intended for public release yet, but we're talking a *massive* development, like crazy amounts of stuff. I had kinda hoped Wanda will get that though as they were toying with a big park in that location.

  17. Only information they have said is the ride itself was between 30 - 35 million... Does not include station, theming, paths, landscaping...

  18. It's hard to be disappointed with any event that was free. This is the type of event that hopefully MW will put for the Christmas school holidays. If I was to say one thing I didn’t like about the parade it would be if you’re not watching the parade in the first half of the street you won’t see the whole parade. It is puzzling that not all the guest will see the whole parade because the dancing is the best part. The idea of a parade is you line the streets and the whole parade passes you by. I would like to give the first Skeet High Achievement Award to the person who played "The Riddler" on Sunday.

  19. Whilst the video is good anyone else kinda hate that it was vertical video? Aside from that and the mic situation good to see the park making an effort and doing these kinds of videos.

  20. I would just like to add that I drove passed AW on Saturday and from behind peaking through the space between the Abyss and the bushes of the Tunnel of Terror, I saw a structure that reminded me of Bounty's main pole structure (sorry about the incorrect terminology) where there were 4 starter poles leaning in to a top square. I strongly believe I saw this but if someone drives passed and thinks otherwise let me know!!

  23. I am thinking it will look something like Loke. Which is the newer Intamin model with Lap Bars. Plus to me the support structure we have seen looks like this.

  25. You make a good point here, especially with the supports as they would interfere with the Abyss. Hopefully if we get some photos of those 'bright coloured objects" iwerks talked about, maybe we will be able to analyse a theme. Don't think we will be able to find out the name or anything due to the fact AW doesn't have a theme such as a Movie World for example but we can try! Currently so happy about the progress being made!

  29. Thanks! In this case the ride is handbuilt, thats true. With other projects I decide from case to case whether I use FVD (the inbuilt one) or not. Building by hand deliveres good smoothness when using the comb feature but costs a lot of time and patience. FVD built rides are always smoother but it's not always that easy to get exactly the shaping you want and it's even harder to change things after finishing the layout. I mainly do not have a plan of the whole thing I want to build. The most ideas are coming to my mind while building and I also change things very often till I'm completely happy with it. Sadly this again costs a lot of time what makes me finishing projects very rarely. I am not able to provide you more images/videos of the hypercoaster right now but I might be in the future. And the g-force comb will always just give a rough idea of the actual forces on the real ride.

  30. Not at all, if anything they have demonstrating to be very playful animals! Spent a lot of time playing with their giant ball today, along with curiosity over the funny looking observers on the other side of the glass (esp when they are holding takeaway coffee cups) Was an absolute joy seeing these big fellas today, they really are magnificent beasts, and their size in real life will make your jaw drop! The tigers next door seemed like kittens in comparison. Can't wait to do a return visit to check them out again. I'm actually a bit bummed that their visit will be so brief

  31. Soooo gorgeous! I can't wait to go and see them this weekend. DW got some heat when they announced it (uneducated animal activists screaming that transporting them would be stressful) but DW handled it brilliantly. And @Theme Park Girl thanks for the photos...those Lions do not look stressed in the slightest!

  32. Wow, now I have a person to thank for the amazing animation - thankyou @docoaster, I'm really impressed. I am interested in how you go about building your nolimits creations (moreso your own creations and not this specific one). How do you generally go around building some of your nolimits designs? Obviously this one would've been mostly "by hand", but do you usually do it this way, or do you ever use a FVD tool or some other tool to help you (either the inbuilt one or a third-party one)? You said a lot your creations come completely from mind with a little inspiration, do you usually have a clear image of what you want to build before you start or do you come up with new elements to add along the way? I'm more interested myself to see a screen-shot of the G-force comb although I doubt docoaster is allowed to share this.

  34. Rode Helix and Alpina Blitz (which small height should not deceive you!) and both are clearly a notch less intense than the best Intamins I've done (El Toro, Expedition GeForce, Superman: the Ride and Taron). The Intamins can crush you into your seat, sometimes for quite sustained periods of time. Helix and Alpina both do apply some positive forces, but never to the same level of insanity some Intamin coasters do. I can see DC Rivals being the same, although perhaps Mack decided to up their game... On the topic of rapid-fire turns, Taron mostly consists of twisty turns and surprisingly delivers very, very strong and sustained G+. Those turns and overbanks may look somewhat inoffensive, but (especially at night) they literely took my breath away with sheer intensity! I'm not expecting the same to happen with DC Rivals because the layout is more drawn-out and... well, because it's Mack, but I can tell you rapid-fire turns can end up very forceful if the curves are very tight!

  37. Dose anyone know how expensive this ride will be?
    1 point
  38. Yep. Sundays Riddler performer was great, having a good chat with my son who was wearing his Green Lantern cape, about how he should go for green villains instead of heroes. We then caught up with him a few hours later when he was out of the Riddler girls and he remembered him, telling the girls about their previous conversation, even let him hold his gold cane for the photo

  40. Not sure why we needed the centered text which made this hard to read. What I got from this overly indulgent read was that you didn't care much for the event and are sooo much smarter than both the park and everyone else. Fortunately for the park seems most everyone else has very much enjoyed the event. As for no advertising, clearly not the case given how many people are attending.
