Mid-week Update courtesy of an unplanned visit. [28-06-17] Storage Lot The smallest support in the lift hill area. (Literally the only reason I've included this photo - it's a cute little thing compared to the behemoth its underneath) Whatever these things are. (Yeah yeah.. I recognise that it's scaffolding.) Brake run catwalks. There are three new pieces in the lot (since my previous update) - however, due to the position of the sun I have no good photos of them. Station/Brake Run/Lift Hill Catwalk installation preparation Non-Inverted Loop The shot that you're going to see a lot throughout the rides lifetime. (Well, minus the fencing... and probably from a different angle... oh and maybe a visible train... but that's basically still the same, right?) More supports for the first airtime hill. Look to be fully assembled and will likely be slotted in place fully completed. Remember the thumbnail for that Parkz Update? Yeah, there's track there now. Swooping down into the loop is going to be amazing. This shot... I like this shot I also like this shot. I like this shot very much.6 points

@Iwerks, even if I did know, I couldn't tell you. Remember though, all investment depends to a large extent on performance. The weather was pretty unkind last season to say the least. I believe this season will be mahoosive though. In MHO, the park will reach a new tipping point with the quantum of dry product with MI3 that will see a minimum of 10% growth on Krakens season. Could be as high as 20% if the marketing is done well and the weather is "normal"3 points

I'm sure it will. @ABYSS mi3 is equal in investment and impact as Kraken2 points

Do we really need a bloody update every time a ride stops? This isn't the Gold Coast Bulliten you know2 points

I think the objection I have with this at a fubdamental level is this piece of shit is calling itself a theme park where really it is at best a themed residential commercial area. It'd be like if South Bank called itself a theme park. I pity any tourist who gets duped into going to this little trap, and by calling it a theme park it tarnishes the reputation of the theme park industry and the Gold Coast as a whole. I have further objections beyond that to do with cultrual inappropriateness, intergration, and other planning issues, but the thing that makes me object at a deep level is how this place is misrepresenting itself in a way that us harmful to the tourism industry.2 points

@MaxxTheMonster That's seriously being as pedantic as hell, but anyway... clearly heaps of you are having a completely shit Thursday... hope it continues for your Friday and weekend 😁1 point

^ 100% this. Take the huge reconstruction of Uluru in the artwork, I could almost guarantee they didn't contact the elders for the tribe in that area or the local Yugambeh folks who are the tribe in the Gold Coast area to see if that was something respectful or allowed, let alone have a reconciliation action plan in place. I dig people's optimism but it's not like village aren't investing 600 million into a new theme park because they're all just scrooges, it's because there's no market for it. #logic1 point

You've lost the plot... having a bad week?? It was closed, and they were working on it. That is maintenance. I don't really understand why you've targeted me given the complete dribble posted by some on these pages, with multiple posters uploading the same photo's and content regularly. I don't post here anywhere near as often as most, and I'm certainly not chasing up votes. I know plenty of locals who will change their minds on their afternoon park plans based on what rides are open. I thought my post would be of use to such people. if My post didn't interest you, maybe you could have ignored it, as i do when it happens.1 point

I'm sure it will happen some time in the next month to get people excited about new memberships.1 point

Actually it's not on topic at all. Is the ride closed for maintenance? No Are people planning the family holiday around TOT going down for a while and coming to parkz to make those plans? No Its more like people have verbal diarrhea and can't deal without posting for more than 5 mins or else they won't feel loved.1 point

Don't get your knickers in a knot. it's the school holidays and many people plan which park they are visiting based on the availability of rides. It's not like a new thread is being posted, it's a singular post, in a maintenance thread. Seems relevant, factual, and informative, pretty much the opposite of anything by the GCB.1 point

Fear not @Locke, after trawling through the DA documents, I have found an actual render.1 point

So it's a themed residential development mostly? Sounds truely awful.1 point

That support was initially connected (as one of the first parts of the ride to go vertical) but was, however, removed after the installation of the (?)Camelback hill(?) underneath. Image taken: 29th April So it definitely lines up with the ground support, and it wasn't in the way of the track below, but still must've been just too close. (or was damaged during track install?) Terrible angle, taken from my phone (sorry for the pole in the way, was in a bit of a rush), but here's another look at the fully-completed supports for the NI loop It's really amazing driving southbound along the motorway now, the loop is really majestic as you see it slowly rising above the trees. Certainly going to attract lots of people to the park just alone.1 point

Thank you for giving me the chance to talk about the cooperation with VRTP! I really enjoyed creating the simulation and I hope you all enjoyed watching the trailer. And sorry for not giving you any updates on my simulation, but you may now understand why I was not able to do so.1 point

Some cool points from the live stream: - They will be focusing on the lift hill now that the NI loop is finished - construction will be much more faster moving forward. - the car park will be filled with more tracks and pieces for further construction this week. - They will be live streaming the train arrival (which will arrive in the car park and assembled for everyone to see) - they will live stream the final track being installed for the lift hill.1 point

Some photos from yesterday Oh and because why not... Looney Tunes! Seeing you didn't mention this on your update yesterday It said children are 3-10 had to supervised by an adult while it happens1 point

And when you try to tell them you aren't interested they come back with... "But everyone is getting their photo taken"... And then at the end of the day they have the rope placed so you have to curve back towards the area where they try and get you to buy a photo and look puzzled when you say "I chose not to have my photo taken"... One of the worst ideas the park has had in recent memory...1 point

Penguin is back! Along with many other classic Batman Villians and Superheroes 😁 Everyone is really getting into the atmosphere, people dressed up everywhere ☺️ There's stacks of new daily shows and photo appearances too 👍 Oh, and they are playing music and theme songs from all the relevant shows and movies down main street too, instead of the usual pop music 👍1 point

Having only ridden the Gold Coast and Brisbane (Expo Park) coasters I'm really excited for this one. It's a coaster that one of the parks had to do and VRTP have made a bold move capex wise to do so. Not everyone loves roller coasters just like I don't like flat rides like The Claw, Wipeout etc. Everyone handles the forces on rides differently @Ryande16 so not everyone will be happy with it but at least it seems everyone here is going to try it once. Who knows maybe even @pushbutton will like it.1 point

That's not maintenance... Maintenance is maintaining something to prevent issues from occurring... This was a break down... For example... I should have been getting my car service done every so many kilometres or months to prevent an issues from occurring... I failed to do that and my gearbox failed... Now what did I do? Did I: A. Perform maintenance B. Repair the breakdown0 points

^You guys can't be serious can you? I mean c'mon everyones been praying for a ride like this for the past 10 years now, and when we finally get it people are complaining that it looks to intense and doesn't look fun. Im honestly not sure if you're taking the piss @Glubbo by saying you need to get conditioned to ride it more then once because that made me LOL. As far as my thoughts for the ride are I'm fucking pumped and keen to ride this beast!!! Btw I've already booked a plane ticket to fly up in october to ride it Also if you guy's can't handle this ride then don't bother going to any six flags or cedar fair parks just saying :/ Also no hard feelings Im praying-1 points

You doubted the viability of it going ahead and were concerned about flooding, on which points, despite the fact you don't like the project, you're likely wrong, it will probably go ahead and flooding can be handled on this site. So not sure what you exactly 'told us so' about. There is no 'alternative proposal' here where this is all residential, they're being quite upfront about what they want to do.-1 points
