Closer view of Mi3. Does this mean Abyss is finally getting aircon in its queue line?!6 points

As mentioned these are in a tender online. I'm not sure where the location in park is but it seems to be under a monorail station.5 points

Hi all, Am new here but huge fan of marine parks. Sadly there isn't really anything in NZ other than the aquariums. Didn't see it being discussed on here yet, but noticed a tender for a new jelly fish exhibit at your gold coast sea world park. I'm hoping it's done by xmas when I make my annual journey across the ditch to the gold coast to see family.4 points

Looks pretty much like an Intamin comparing with the construction of Loke at Liseberg. There's some very distinctive seams at the top of the A frame. Its a good ride of course, but would have preferred something more unique to Australia (I acknowledge that Perth is basically a separate market to the rest of the parks here)2 points

What's funny is Vekoma have build nearly every Disney coaster and they are all fine.2 points

Looks neat. In general though, I think it's shame when attractions get substituted, I'd much prefer to just add them as new attractions so the overall count goes up.1 point

Tokyo DisneySea has two roller-coasters, a Togo kid's coaster (in place of a Vekoma roller-skater) and an odd Intamin looping coaster that's a sort of clone of another in Disneyland Paris. I think it's worth keeping in mind that you can generalise brands like car-makers to a certain point (one's rough, one's smooth, one's reliable) but the reality is far more complex. With any project this large, this complicated and subject to differing local regulations (both government and company) means that every single install is unique. Let's just say that again: Every. Single. Install. Is. Unique. There may be common threads in design, parts and components or track layout, but even in Australia, off the shelf models of some notable rides differ greatly to their overseas counterparts for various reasons. Added to this, these days many of the same ride companies rely on the same third parties like Stengel or Ride Centreline to do a range of engineering, G-force calculations and even ride design. In which case, it really comes down to the client, the brief, budget and who's behind the project, and if that all comes together in harmony. And that human variable alone is enough to suggest that simply looking at stats and going "they suck but these guys rule" is at best causation through correlation.1 point

I visit the park every couple of years and I really enjoy the atmosphere in general. The staff are absolutely lovely, and the rides are memorable, especially the Toboggan run. Has the place actually shut down yet? As it seems odd to close down after big investments like the Tube Slide and the Ropes Course. If we're sharing memories, last year when I ventured down the park was practically dead, so we got a private ERT of sorts on the Diamond Python (Pinfair Z40). We probably racked up around 40 rides and the staff were having a great time, cracking jokes, saying we were nuts, etc. It was a great time!1 point

Although many of the recent big installs have been vekoma, i think part of that reason is because of the benefits of cloning on rides such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - however: Based on RCDB, Disney has 14 Vekoma coasters across Florida, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Paris and California, and 19 "other" brands (which includes rides on RCDB currently 'under construction'. (Tokyo DisneySea is the only Disney park that doesn't have a Vekoma coaster - instead it has a TOGO ) For simplicity sake, i've attributed the Dynamic Technologies re-tracking of rides like Space and Big Thunder to WED as the original manufacturer - which gives us: Vekoma - 14 WED - 7 Mack - 2 Reverchon - 1 Togo - 1 Intamin - 6 Maurer - 1 Arrow - 1 I'll talk out of my ass for a minute and say I would assume Disney's own in house design teams would work closely and heavily with the vekoma teams on delivering what they do - whereas externals would be heavily reliant on the vekoma team to take care of most. It truly is hard to believe that rides like HKDL's Big Grizzly were put out of the same organisation that created BSG. Certainly Vekoma have built a lot of Disney coasters, but I wouldn't say "nearly every" coaster. You are right, however - in saying that Disney don't appear to have any problems with their Vekoma coasters. I won't begin to try and explain that though.1 point

Also thought i'd add another small loop video I made from footage I shot at Dreamworld a few months ago, was just something I threw together for fun.1 point

Here's my first update after getting back from my trip. Wow, it does look awesome, and standing right under the loop and first drop really shows how height these are, because photos don't really show it. Something I noticed, which I don't think have been posted about, is the supports for the first drop are now all in place, just the tracks to be installed, and you can really get a sense of how steep it will be now. Plenty of progress for the station too, which seems to have progress quickly. Few more parts have arrived in the carpark and still a few supports for the lift hill. And here's some of photos of the loop And how the first drop supports looks with the surrounding rides1 point

I had a chat on site there with maintenance the other day? Take it with a grain of salt if you like, but you'll find its the most accurate info you'll get about it. I definitely wouldn't be posting if I thought it was just rumour.1 point

Pic I took on Friday, which is pretty much exactly the same as everyone elses:P1 point

New Month, New Update. 1st of July 2017. Thanks for all the compliments on last week's update! Comparison Shot 1 Should be able to see the first drop and hill through the NIL over the next two months (Not the best photo this week - but for consistency I've posted it anyway) Comparison Shot 2 Station/Brake Run @AlexB Turns out they're using the scaffolding for the Maintenance Building. - but that's basically the same as the station, so we'll just say you were correct Friction Wheels have been installed in the Track Switch/Station area. (As seen in the photos above and below) First Drop/First Hill First Drop supports continuing from the main structure have been erected. As seen above. They have been erecting most of the supports for the first hill + returning bunny hills. (Viewing the larger version of this photo makes support viewing easier!) For the first drop the supports are just below/equal to the ground level of the road. Meaning that the train/bottom of the first drop is going to reach ground level (or just below it). Random and just because I love how the loop looks - here's another one of the same.1 point

And we can also see here where the bridge links between the coaster and TopGolf1 point

We finally have an updated Nearmap image of construction from May 29:1 point

Really not a fan of SBF Visa's stuff, but probably the right level of ride for the park. Still don't fully understand how that park is able to do the things it's doing. Gotta be all that pokie revenue right?1 point

You've lost the plot... having a bad week?? It was closed, and they were working on it. That is maintenance. I don't really understand why you've targeted me given the complete dribble posted by some on these pages, with multiple posters uploading the same photo's and content regularly. I don't post here anywhere near as often as most, and I'm certainly not chasing up votes. I know plenty of locals who will change their minds on their afternoon park plans based on what rides are open. I thought my post would be of use to such people. if My post didn't interest you, maybe you could have ignored it, as i do when it happens.1 point

I haven't read the full thread here, so apologies if I'm trampling – but the wood coaster at Tayto Park was built with wood imported from America, because it was cheaper to do that than source the correct wood locally.1 point
