  2. Hi all just to add a small update on happenings at Luna Park Sydney. Due to the sensitive location of the park and the strict heritage requirements surrounding it, the planning process for the new investment is quite lengthy and time consuming. That being said, the first new ride, a Wave Swinger, is scheduled to open in March next year. It is currently being built in Europe ( most probably by Zamperla) and will be a 64 seat version ( including 8 double seats) It will have the highest capacity of any Wave Swinger in Australia. Its colour scheme and theming is being designed to match the new building theme's throughout the park and it will help establish and enhance the classic LPS feel and aesthetic. I am not certain, but the obvious spot for the new ride would be on the Flying saucer site, to match this section's new look when it is completed: In other news, the Moon Ranger has roared back into life and has reopened, Its not certain if the ride is till on the open market ( I think this would still be the case) but it is certainly one of the rides earmarked for replacement with the new investment. Works should start on the new theming and buildings by the end of the year.

  3. Dreamworld has released more videos about ride safety and why rides stop, as well as the safety process and animal safety.

  4. So let me get this straight, because you can't afford to pay you get no penalty? How about all that companies assets are siezed, along with the personal ones of the directors and they are banned from ever being involved in the amusement industry ever again.

  5. I agree the lake is under utilised. It's a big stage so you a really big show to fill the space. That's what I think good shows have in common, they're big shows in small spaces. That's why Pirates Unleashed was such a failure, it was a tiny show on a massive stage. Same is true for HSD V Police Academy, PA had more stuff going on crammed into a smaller space, so the show felt bigger. I think that's why the Ski Show works, it's a show that takes up the whole lake and only just fits in the space. Jet Stunt Extreme does a better job of filling the lake but it's not really a show, rather it's an extreme sports demonstration. What I think they need is either improve JSE or go back to basics and put in either a classic Ski Show or a big new Stunt Show, as well as using the lake for a night time spectacular. There's no reason you can't do both, and with such a big venue so close to the entrance it's ideally suited to a big night show. Fountains would work fine as an element of a night show, but it shouldn't get in the way of the day show.

  6. More tracks and supports have arrived, with more wooden boxes inside the containers. The final support for the Stengel dive has been installed now As @Jdude95 has said, peices of track for the first drop have been installed And station work continues

  7. I think people have missed the 'fountain' joke, and also what a thoroughly pointless feature the world's biggest fountain would be.

  9. To be honest, i think this is probably a better idea than trying to build a custom coaster up there. I'd love to see the hammon's do this.

  10. It would be cool to see an alpine coaster in Australia perhaps something like at goats on the roof at Pigeon Forge in the US.

  12. World Expo Fun park ran a competition on how many rides you could ride in a night. I thought I was smart and because the park was quiet, I asked the ride attendant if I could stay on the Supernova. I only had to line up a few times the whole night. Before every dispatch the ride attendant would stamp my card. At the end of the night I ran to guest services so sure I would win a prize, I think I even broke into a half-skip. The person asked me what rides I rode. I told him the Supernova and I think I had a big grin across my face. He asked me and what else. When I proceeded to tell him, I had ridden the coaster over 50 times he laughed at me. This is when he pointed out, I was meant to ride every ride in the park once to get a prize.

  13. I must say, for all the time taken with that support, I kinda expected it to be a much better fit. As well as one big engineering whoopsie!

  14. Hi all, Am new here but huge fan of marine parks. Sadly there isn't really anything in NZ other than the aquariums. Didn't see it being discussed on here yet, but noticed a tender for a new jelly fish exhibit at your gold coast sea world park. I'm hoping it's done by xmas when I make my annual journey across the ditch to the gold coast to see family.

  16. I'm pretty sure schools in Singapore went back to school the week before I was there, but the surrounding countries were just about to be on there's. Glad you had a good day there, and wow, those queues were much busier than when I was there.

  17. Dropped in this morning for a sneaky few hours. (here for work) The place was packed! Think it might be school holidays up here? 2 hour waits on BSG and Transformers, 1 Hour waits for most other things. Managed to do Mummy, Canopy Flyer, Puss in Boots and Madagascar Crate Ride (lol) Also watched Lights, Camera, Action. Staff were brilliant as always, Food in the American diner was decent. Spent $150 on minion shit in the shop to take home for the kids and left. Better than being in the office back in Australia !

  21. Not really so, you can build such a display to be barge based installation that is self contained and towed into position for show which would still leave your lake free for daytime deep water shows.

  22. This is a great idea- it would be far more cost effective than building a full coaster!! Just looking at their website- they have plenty of options that they can bring if this idea was ever to be fully explored. Seriously think this would be the way to go- there is no installations of this type in Australia and it would be a massive drawcard- especially if it was engineered to circuit near cliff faces for added thrills. This could also circuit the existing carpark without affecting capacity and make as much use of the available space. However check out this video of another of their products- Who could see Scenic World doing a deal with Wiegand and installing one of these and an Alpine coaster on the site? They could probably do it far cheaper than a single coaster and these guys are used to building in inaccessible and hard to get to terrains- perfect for the Blue Mountains!! This next video shows the Die Flyer in action at a park owned by Wiegand and also showcases several other of theor product offerings- love the Summer tubing!!! Not sure how Australian safety law would react to that though!!!

  23. I didn't know anything about them wanting to sell the park. Have a read of some the articles in the 'media' section - they mention that they want to focus on Dreamworld and other Australian assets, they recognise the importance of the park, and condemn the current directors for failing to re-invest in the park.

  24. ...but no one said it looked weird. @AlexB simply said he thought it would be a "much better fit" which IMO is pretty valid. It looks like they've erred on the side of caution and chopped off more than they possibly had to to ensue they didn't need to send it off and do it again.

  26. Just stopped by MW to grab some pics. Looks like the airtime hills out of the first drop is starting to get track bolted in. A few more shipping containers of track pieces arrived but I was pressed for time.
