  1. Here's my pointless update for this weekend. (Honestly though, the coverage this week has been amazing and extensive!) However, not everything has been covered! Which means there is actually something to mention Grouting of the supports has started around the Incline Dive Loop and the work on the Non-Inverted Loop seems to be torquing - definitely sounds like it. As I was in somewhat of a rush, here are my moving-car shots for the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of July. Comparison Shot 1 Okay so I lied, the car was stationary for the taking of this picture. Not Comparison Shot 1 Driving alongside all of this is going to be awesome. Imagine racing the train along the bunny hills. you can do it in roughly two months. (Hopefully, all the construction fences are gone once testing starts) The incline on the lift hill is going to be terrifying... for most guests. Warner Bros. Movie World wins the Australian Parkz Skyline Award Construction Fence wins Parkz Most Hated Photographic Obstruction 'Award' There are only three main lift hill supports. and two of them are *partially* complete. The lift hill track reaches the height requirement for almost every kids ride on the Gold Coast.

  2. Look at the supports that have been installed. Smaller crane moving supports around, but no major work on the track. And GL seems to operate when the crane isn't in use

  3. So there's still a few things that need to be added, then a lot of work to go into the lighting system in the ride, but the general ride itself is all done and most of the theming is there. And before anyone points it out, yes there is quite a bit of stuff that isn't right or too many stars and what not, but it's close enough to get the idea.

  4. That's the immelman. The dive loop is the inversion after the break run. Exhibit A:

  5. The area of bushland passed the Blue Lagoon and before the Amphitheatre would be an ideal spot for a brand new 'Ned Kelly Heist' - a set could also be easily built to bring back a 'Bush Ranger Show' that could take place around the same spot. It's a really dull part of the journey as it currently stands with the Staff member rattling on about attractions in the Park that everyone knows about while the train covers a lot of mothballed attractions. If they brought back the Baldwin for weekends and Holidays then make the whole thing an experience with an all new exciting Show that is uniquely DW and one that People will definitely be drawn to.

  6. Surprised to hear that some are disappointed with this. A swing like this isn't a spin and spew, they are floater airtime machines. The Claw is the best flat ride I've ever ridden.

  7. The dive loop is what follows the main drop. The dive loop is the inversion after the main drop.

  8. With my best hopes for DW's future, I prefer to remain optimistic about all of these 'minor experiences'. While not earth shattering by any means they will at least all add up to improving the overall Customer Experience. This is something that's vitally important when they have no new Major attraction to promote.. again. Some of us choose to sit in armchairs and criticise current DW Management and it's Owners over the way things are ran. Fact is DW should be investing mega bucks right now on Capital but sadly the REALITY of things are they simply don't have the funds to spend and Ardent won't give the Park what it needs. It's been a tired old scenario playing out for too many years. Right now all DW can do is make the glass at least look half full by making the most of everything they have. For that, I think they are doing an excellent job.

  10. Yeah why would they go will Huss? No chance. They'd probably want to do an Intamin tower to make it visually distinguishable from their existing POS

  12. So excited to see the big camelback now completed! It should certainly be one highlight of the ride. Some comparison pictures: (Picture of Helix by Oligao) (Picture of Flash by gavin on CoasterForce) Difficult to exactly tell since the camera angles aren't the same, but I think DC Rivals' got the tallest hill overall. Maybe it is slightly steeper too (which is even harder to judge). Of course height and steepness doesn't matter much if speed is lacking. But don't worry, coasterfans in Europe generally agree that Mack's latest coasters provide good, sustained airtime! As you may know, I've been on Alpina Blitz and Helix, and while I think the air isn't ridiculously insane as on El Toro and GeForce, it's very good nonetheless. What makes DC Rivals' camelback very interesting is its unrivalled height by Mack standards. You may get a very, very sustained and decently strong airtime indeed ;)

  14. The documents on the website indicates that they think that the Gold Coast tourism and theme park industry is a viable one with solid projected growth. They also note that Ardent have significantly under-invested in development CapEx for their parks. From a stakeholder's perspective, the question is whether the capital required for Ardent to turn this division around is best served in that capacity, or would be better put to use fixing the botched Main Event roll-out in the USA. As it stands Ardent's current management want to have their cake and eat it too; they insist that they couldn't possibly want to sell the park (despite doing everything possible to indicate that is in fact on the cards), yet they are also doing nothing to suggest that they realise the kind of investment Dreamworld needs to rectify not just the fallout from what happened on Thunder River Rapids, but from a strategic and deliberate starving of capital for their 20-odd years of ownership.

  17. I think whatever chance Eureka may have had went out the window last month. If Rocky Hollow closes, as is looking increasingly likely, that corner of the park will need some serious love with 4 SBNO attractions as well as the old Blue Lagoon site.
