  1. So myself and @Reanimated35 tried out the Mayhem Maze over the weekend and we were very impressed. It is for 12 yrs and older. You go in with your own group whether that is 1 person or 8. Person in front has to keep hands in their pockets unless moving a curtain out of the way. the rest of the group follow with hands on the shoulders in front. We had a few of the groups before us go in and then come back out within 20 seconds cause they couldn't handle it. They were all teenagers though. Very dark. Really good costumes/masks and props. I came out with my hands shaking and wanting to do it again immediately. Definitely a must do when visiting the park.

  2. Nah i'm calling it, it's the literal and figurative height of overthinking things because nothing else news-worthy is happening at the moment. Fox News would be proud. Let's dial it back here for a second. They're installing a cool joker face atop a hypercoaster. That in itself is unique and pretty cool. Let's all have a beer and not be unappreciative theme park nerds for a change and just take solace in the fact that we're being gifted cool shit to ride. Or not, continue to be petty and have the parks alienate us more because we're a bunch of beer-less nit-pickters who, when given good things, continue to find fault.

  3. Every year there is someone who comes on here and shares inside info from whatever source. Then every year the same people come on here all buthurt they weren't the special ones to release the inside info, or upset that they aren't special 'knowing something you don't know'. If you didn't sign a NDA and you don't have a contract forbidding you from sharing info go for it!

  4. It does strike me as a lost opportunity to use it for the ride experience by having it facing riders as well. Maybe it's a little too close to what Arkham Asylum tries to do, but Joker music on the lift hill and the face lighting up to coincide with a Mark Hamill laugh as the train nears and crests the top. It justifies the existence of the head and gives the ride something of a theme without going overboard with an attempted storyline.

  6. Fantastic input there. 10/10. Will quote again.

  7. There's already been several discussions about things they could have done: lighting the track colour changing pillars having the face face both ways (two-face? lol) Having the face move having the face laugh having a fully-backwards facing train These are what enthusiasts do - think of ways it could have been done differently. I'm sure you'll appreciate when I say if it weren't for enthusiasts to think about things differently, we could have been looking at a very different coaster design IYKWIM. Nothing says these ideas have to be solid, sound improvements that the park should be embarrassed for not having thought of. Nothing even says these ideas have to be solidly rooted in logic and budget. Ok, so some of them probably don't belong in a construction discussion, but more of a wishful thinking discussion, but who cares? Just because people come up with ways of doing things differently, doesn't mean they're unappreciative of what did come along. I notice you didn't 'call it' when Richard was discussing it? Does Richard need a beer too? This discussion isn't to 'find fault' with it, but as Rich eloquently put it - it was a lost opportunity.

  8. It's been discussed to death that the studios are out of action this year due to filming commitments as it was last time. Hence the need for the two new sheds last year. Every year without fail there's always one idiot who pops up on Parkz and claims they've been to an audition or their friend went and told them all the maze details etc. The problem (I assume) for Parkz then is that if they delete the post, they can be seen as confirming the information. If they let it sit there, the park may not be happy about information being posted (assuming for a minute that it's accurate) however, given the majority of long standing members on here know this years mazes and aren't saying anything one way or the other, means that this becomes idle speculation of some random kid who claims to know what's going on this week at one of the GC parks. It's quite possibly also a very easy test from the park to determine who can and can't be trusted. If someone posts information about something they saw behind the scenes, there's a good chance they can't be trusted not to reveal things if they got through the application process. Now some may not agree with me on this. Admins, I'm looking at you on this but, in my opinion, if you're back of house for any reason and you see something that isn't public information, at no point should it become public information unless specifically advised you are permitted to make it so.

  9. Ok Im not frigin stupid ok I can count to six everybody makes mistakes! There's no need for you to be an sarcastic idiot about it. I didnt look at the picture properly and I apologise for that but there is no need to be rude about it at all! Thanks I thought at first the text about returning mazes was placed next to the lock screen and was waiting for a picture to be placed on those lockscreens for the mazes. Once again sorry

  10. GP - general public or Grand Prix? That clock is near the lockers, the office and toilets. It is probably fairly recent.

  11. Dad used to work about 2 sites down the road from them doing more or less the same thing (Waterways specialised in above water while his company was under). And apparently this isn't the first time they've been up the creek like this to the point this was probably a last straw and come tomorrow morning the entire street's going to be crawling with Government Officials.

  12. Nobody "not" keeping this discussion “in reality check”. Nobody is blasting the whole project. The options discussed are within reality and simple. I think of them as the icing on the cake. To say MW should’ve built it in a shed is not within reality. To say MW should’ve themed it to Harry Potter is not in reality. Comparing toilets to adding theming to a hypercoaster is not in reality.

  13. i got you. But here's the thing - it's not like its a knee jerk reaction to some newly discovered fact. The joker face was portrayed as a single facing object in the rendering. it was kinda to be expected. This discussion has enlivened because of the arrival of the physical piece. and it is a missed opportunity. big time. apart from budget \ cost, I can't see one solid reason as to why they couldn't have made the face 'two-way' - and it REALLY would have been cool had they done so. I'm not saying the lack of a second face will detract from what is going to be an awesome ride, but its the little things that count. its the little things that you mightn't notice, unless they weren't there. (I'd normally go on a rave about disney and universal level themeing here but it isn't necessary). My point is - the frame is there, the power is there. Just as Rappa pointed out the existing speakers and control systems could permit lift-hill audio without much effort, duplicating the sign on the other side surely wouldn't have broken the bank and really put the cherry on the top of what is already an amazing attraction.

  15. Create a Facebook page. I’m thinking of starting up my own theme park joke Facebook site. Which theme park do Super Heroes go to? Alton Powers! How does a pig enter a theme park? It goes through a turnstyle! Doctor, Doctor, I always in a spin and have no money You’re a theme park enthusiast Doctor, doctor, I feel like a ride that's been emergency-stopped! reset yourself, then you'll feel much better! (Yes, I stole all jokes and have no original content of my own)

  17. Doesn't mean no one has read it. It is kind of common sense. When you go behind scenes somewhere you don't go giving away all their secrets. If i was them and I brought a group of people in for auditions backstage, then saw that one of those people posted information that was not suppose to be public knowledge at the time, Id probably get rid of their application. They had the same issue with someone last year.

  18. The site is still under construction so not everything is correct. Expect the usual. 2 returning mazes and 2 new mazes. Just because all 4 images under the Maze section have 'NEW' on them does not mean there will be 4 new mazes. 2 are for the returning mazes and the images that are there are place holders until they have actual images to post before the site is live.

  20. It's the a new version on the Claw but with 40 seats not 32. Giving it a better capacity and it's slightly taller. But the lap bars will be this rides main point of difference over the claw and will sure be something Awesome to try.

  21. wouldn't be hard to retrofit a few speakers on the lift hill, rather than having on board audio systems. A simple IR beam across the base of the lift to trigger the audio playback, and have it timed perfectly to the lift chain speed... Imagine that Laugh booming out over the park? Superman isn't on-board audio, which is why it works. On board systems are a lot harder to get right, and keep working on an Aus budget.

  22. Yeah but let's be honest - it doesn't feel like it at Disney. You might queue for an hour, but the in-queue easter eggs, interactivity, interesting things to look at (and in many - air conditioning) makes the time go quickly (or at the very least you overlook the loading platform and can watch others go on \ come off it and laugh at reactions). Plus in many rides, because they're continuous load, the queue constantly moves, or moves in big jumps (eg: when they load the Mansion). Contrast that to our local parks - where operations are horrendous and seem to aim for the slow-speed records, where guests aren't grouped until after the train is parked, where queues are hot, bare walls (or not much anyway), where the queue stays still for 5 minutes at a time... THAT makes it seem like a long queue, and therefore a long day. You do feel tired after a day at Disney, but it really doesn't hit you until you are travelling back to your accommodation. (i know you know this, i'm just spelling it out for those who don't see the difference.)

  24. It is going to be a great ride. The theme was originally supposed to be more GOT meets war craft and as with Abyss. I would have preferred something a bit dirtier/harder/solid, given the nature of the ride but that's just an opinion. Well done to Phillip and the incredibly talented team at Atomiq who of course themed the Claw ride at DW and Abyss and Kraken, Theme builders and James at Creative Works, and with the lap restraints will be a big hit this year hopefully. Fingers crossed for the team as I know they always work EXTREMELY hard on these things for each new season. Good luck and I hope it rocks! M.

  25. I get we're on an enthusiast forum, and these things should be discussed, and most of the time I say go for it, but sometimes it goes a little cray-cray in here with the kool-aid and the extreme reactions on the tiniest things. I use the Bunnings method, that is, if Bunnings were renovating toilets would it get the same crazy reporting from theme park nerds when Movie World reno'd their toilets early this year? Probably not, and sometimes it's healthy just to take a step back you know? It's fun to talk about these things, it's also important to keep reality in check too and not blast a whole project down & not be otherwise positive and excited because of a small decision that was probably, highly likely rooted in logic & in reality, really doesn't impact the overall experience as much as we thing it does. (Because that's never happened on Parkz by a community member ever, right?) FYI, none of that is directed at you @AlexB, i'm sure you'll get i'm talking in generalities here.
