Ride has gone through testing a couple times today. As you can see above, steel framing has gone in at the entrance to the queue area. More theming has gone up to (the curved wall had the flash on it). Went on SE and GL and can see that all the paths are now laid through the queue, as well as vegetation through out. The station (externally) also appears to be complete now.9 points

To be honest it was such an awful idea that I feel 'No' was an appropriate response. Not everything needs to be an essay.6 points

I think it should be Coast Gold Amusement Force because at least then CGAF would make sense.4 points

Off topic (because there already is one), but am I the only one who thinks your profile pic should be changed? I was thinking something like this:2 points

Pretty sure I covered my thoughts on that. What is immoral about sharing information that is legitimate to share? I've said it about 1000 times, the park saying "shhh keep it to yourself" is 100% about making people feel warm, fuzzy and special and 0% about stopping information leaking out. They definitely expect it to get out. Which is why they don't actually reveal anything secret to the likes of enthusiasts. If I had info I could share and not get sued I most certainly would.2 points

Nah i'm calling it, it's the literal and figurative height of overthinking things because nothing else news-worthy is happening at the moment. Fox News would be proud. Let's dial it back here for a second. They're installing a cool joker face atop a hypercoaster. That in itself is unique and pretty cool. Let's all have a beer and not be unappreciative theme park nerds for a change and just take solace in the fact that we're being gifted cool shit to ride. Or not, continue to be petty and have the parks alienate us more because we're a bunch of beer-less nit-pickters who, when given good things, continue to find fault.2 points

@GC Theme Parks You must be on the dark web. This is what I get when I search it on google. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nothing_to_hide_argument https://www.openrightsgroup.org/blog/2015/responding-to-nothing-to-hide-nothing-to-fear https://thenextweb.com/opinion/2016/02/11/i-have-nothing-to-hide-is-killing-the-privacy-argument/#.tnw_miHBiqVK https://www.wired.com/2013/06/why-i-have-nothing-to-hide-is-the-wrong-way-to-think-about-surveillance/ MW are "not" quoting Joseph Goebbels.1 point

I think because initially someone (Mark Shaw?) stated that it would be the biggest of its kind in Australia? Technically it might be, by a couple cm or m, due to Intamin redesigning/evolving the ride's structure and seating capacity.1 point

Not sure why this debate continues. The ride is the same model and has the same stats as The Claw: swing height is ~28m and it has 32 seats. It's 13 years later so naturally the ride design has undergone some evolution which are most evident in the redesigned structure/mechanics and different restraints, but it's fundamentally the same ride.1 point

Well firstly, I didn't call out anyone member so if you feel you fall into the category of "every year" then that already says something. People can have other opinions, this is a discussion board. But having an opinion and telling someone not to do something are two different things. What I question are people's motives... I've seen time and time again a member sharing some goss they have or inside info and then others shooting me down. It's my opinion that those people shooting down are more put out that they don't get to be special anymore by "knowing something you don't know" and worried about themselves not getting special favours from people that they believe they are all 'in' with in the parks, than they are objecting due to some kind of moral code. I say this is an enthusiast forum and if you know something and there is no legal obligation stopping you from doing so, share away!1 point

i got you. But here's the thing - it's not like its a knee jerk reaction to some newly discovered fact. The joker face was portrayed as a single facing object in the rendering. it was kinda to be expected. This discussion has enlivened because of the arrival of the physical piece. and it is a missed opportunity. big time. apart from budget \ cost, I can't see one solid reason as to why they couldn't have made the face 'two-way' - and it REALLY would have been cool had they done so. I'm not saying the lack of a second face will detract from what is going to be an awesome ride, but its the little things that count. its the little things that you mightn't notice, unless they weren't there. (I'd normally go on a rave about disney and universal level themeing here but it isn't necessary). My point is - the frame is there, the power is there. Just as Rappa pointed out the existing speakers and control systems could permit lift-hill audio without much effort, duplicating the sign on the other side surely wouldn't have broken the bank and really put the cherry on the top of what is already an amazing attraction.1 point

I get we're on an enthusiast forum, and these things should be discussed, and most of the time I say go for it, but sometimes it goes a little cray-cray in here with the kool-aid and the extreme reactions on the tiniest things. I use the Bunnings method, that is, if Bunnings were renovating toilets would it get the same crazy reporting from theme park nerds when Movie World reno'd their toilets early this year? Probably not, and sometimes it's healthy just to take a step back you know? It's fun to talk about these things, it's also important to keep reality in check too and not blast a whole project down & not be otherwise positive and excited because of a small decision that was probably, highly likely rooted in logic & in reality, really doesn't impact the overall experience as much as we thing it does. (Because that's never happened on Parkz by a community member ever, right?) FYI, none of that is directed at you @AlexB, i'm sure you'll get i'm talking in generalities here.1 point

So myself and @Reanimated35 tried out the Mayhem Maze over the weekend and we were very impressed. It is for 12 yrs and older. You go in with your own group whether that is 1 person or 8. Person in front has to keep hands in their pockets unless moving a curtain out of the way. the rest of the group follow with hands on the shoulders in front. We had a few of the groups before us go in and then come back out within 20 seconds cause they couldn't handle it. They were all teenagers though. Very dark. Really good costumes/masks and props. I came out with my hands shaking and wanting to do it again immediately. Definitely a must do when visiting the park.1 point

Don't want to be negative towards what is going to be an awesome event. The only reason I realised it was a similar quote to Goebbels was because I looked up the quote to see if it was linked to any franchise that could potentially be a maze and the link to Goebbels was the first thing that popped up. I'm not suggesting the Movie World in any way intentionally did this, I'm just saying it probably wasn't the best quote.0 points

I can't help but notice that you reply negatively to every one of my comments on here. Sometimes with replies that make no sense. When it comes to the quote, if you look it up the first thing that comes up is its origin to Goebbels, also includes articles that ridicule a MP for using the quote.0 points

I can't help but notice that Movie World has used the quote "if you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear" on facebook when advertising tickets. This quote is very similar to the Nazi World War II propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels quote "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear", so probably not the best quote to use.0 points
