Hi guys- well the time is almost here for us to set off!! We fly out tomorrow for the trip of a lifetime!! Thanks to everyone for your comments and advice- they have all been helpful in many ways!! I am dirty that we will just miss out on the Dueling Dragons at Universal ( if only for the fact that to miss out on 2 unique B&M's is a bit gut wrenching!!) Ah well!! We will definitely try and fit in the Fun Spot park- the GCI woody there I have heard is excellent and one not to be missed! Hopefully will have plenty of pics and trip reports to post when I get back!! Cheers all!!!6 points

Nimble I was merely reflecting on the fact that you immediately took for gospel information regarding the park as truth straight away. If you want to be taken seriously on the boards you may need to learn to apply a filter, that's all. Happy to see someone so obviously young with a healthy love of Luna Park though so please do not stop your interest. Just because the park is not adding a Zierer model does not mean that the new ride will be a dud. That's your opinion. I get that you are a showman and that you love Huss rides and that you have certain opinions. I for one, am a little sick and tired of the negativity that is constantly being emitted by you about the park. The park has survived for 13 years in its current form. As a business , it is doing extremely well , balancing the profit of the amusement side with its entertainment options quite well. The park has announced a 5 year plan with a 25 million dollar refurbishment of their amusement offerings. This is cause for celebration and not one to constantly moan and groan about the park. The plan looks impressive and I am willing to wait until it comes to full fruition before we tear it apart. I am happy to offer criticism of the park where it is warranted ( the need for a redress in the balance of more ride and attraction offerings for one) but to continually be a negative nancy about everything the park is doing gives me the shits. Try and be more positive and a little more balanced in your opinions and we will get along just fine. I feel the need to add a little perspective here regarding Matthew's video. Brad Loxley , The Senior Amusement Manager for LPS has contacted me to give me some background to Matthew and the situation at hand. ( Yes he does regularly read the forums!!) This is what he wanted passed on: What LPS and the team are doing here is a brilliant thing- young Matthew has a healthy love of LPS but also amusement parks in general. Please let us all keep this in mind when we are commenting on the video and young Matthew in general. I am not sure if he reads these forums but lets all keep things clean, respectful and above all positive. The support that LPS have shown Matthew can certainly be mirrored here on the boards. Thanks for your consideration in this!6 points

Look @pazzap is either ultimate troll or just the person with the worst taste in coasters in the world. I stay stop arguing his very wrong opinions and let him be. It's one less person to take up space in line on the 'utterly disappointing' hyper when it opens.3 points

Hi all, Well the family and some friends of mine are finally making the trip stateside and we will be visiting Orlando and all its attractions. Our itinerary is as follows: 6-Sep Wed Arrive Orlando 7-Sep Thur Disney World Animal Kingdom 8-Sep Fri Disney World Hollywood Studios 9-Sep Sat Disney World Blizzard Park 10-Sep Sun Kennedy Space Centre 11-Sep Mon Legoland 12-Sep Tue Disney World Typhoon Lagoon 13-Sep Wed Disney World Epcot 14-Sep Thu Disney World Magic Kingdom 15-Sep Fri Gator / Swamp tour 16-Sep Sat Change accommodation 17-Sep Sun Universal Island of Adventure 18-Sep Mon Seaworld Busch Gardens 19-Sep Tue Universal Studios 20-Sep Wed Seaworld 21-Sep Thu Universal Volcano 22-Sep Fri Free 23-Sep Sat Travel to Hawaii As you can see we are packing as much as we can in the time allotted. The days we have chosen are based on these 2 crowd calendars:Taken from these two crowd calendars https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/crowd-calendar and https://www.undercovertourist.com/orlando/crowd-calendar/September-2017/ so as to maximise the best possible time. 11 theme parks in about 13 days is a lot to pack in but we are going to make the most of it.All of our tickets are prepaid and we have Fast passes organised for the Disney parks but nothing for the others as yet. I am just looking to draw on other more experienced members to get some ideas, tips and pointers for any of the parks listed or anything Orlando related. We are very much looking forward to the trip ( my kids are beside themselves!! ) but I think Hawaii for a week at the end will also be a welcome relief as well!! So please any thoughts or comments or helpful hints will be much appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!1 point

I get everyone has their favourites, but at the same time I don't really get the notion that unless a coaster is simultaneously pushing all your buttons it's a 'yawn' or it's a 'nothing'.1 point

Mate, you would have said the same thing about a Mack Hyper a couple of years ago.1 point

I'm sorry about that, jumping to conclusions and calling BS on something I couldn't understand. Up until a year ago, I was falsely diagnosed with autism (I'm 17 now), and as a result of that I've gotten to know countless autistic kids who are just like Matthew. This kid has got heaps to learn - maybe one day he will join the forums when he's a bit older to share information with us old folks! I'd love to meet this guy in person, he sounds like a great kid.1 point

People with VIP Passes or the basic Membership always complain that they dont get free entry to these events. You get a lot at the gate trying to get into the events saying that they have a pass and they should be able to get free tickets. In the end it comes down to people not knowing what they are purchasing. They don't bother to read what is actually included in the pass they are buying. They just assume the all have a free night event ticket. I guess by offering a discounted ticket to VIP and basic Membership pass holders, it will get them off their backs.1 point

Good luck with your trip @Jobe Hope everything goes well and I will be looking forward to hearing what you have to report back with (Really wishing it was December 2016 again....)1 point

Just like any good politician - spout whatever you think people want to hear to get in, and then immediately cast doubt on that plan going forward, and tell everyone you've got more work to do to work out the best way, before announcing something completely different (or sticking to the status quo)1 point

Great result. See what happens next. New Ardent Leisure board member Dr Gary Weiss is firmly behind investment in the Dreamworld theme park. Pictures: Jack Tran Business Ardent Leisure’s new board member Gary Weiss says Dreamworld has ‘strong future’ Alister Thomson, Gold Coast Bulletin September 5, 2017 12:00am AN activist shareholder appointed to the board of Dreamworld owner Ardent Leisure has firmly backed plans to revitalise the ailing theme park. Gary Weiss — executive director of Ardent’s largest shareholder Ariadne Australia — and fellow director Brad Richmond were yesterday installed to the board ahead of a planned shareholder vote. Ariadne has spearheaded fierce criticism of Ardent in the wake of the Dreamworld tragedy last October, accusing the board of strategic errors and “losing its way”. Dr Weiss told the Gold Coast Bulletin they wanted to see more investment in the Coomera park to restore its fortunes. “We are here to assist in delivering better outcomes for all the component parts of the company and to improve returns for all security holders,” he said. “We are strong believers in Dreamworld and its future because it does have a good future.” In July, Ariadne released a rescue plan for the company, which it said could unlock $1 billion of additional value. Ariadne accused Ardent of underinvesting in its theme parks over the past decade, leading to the company falling behind Movie World operator Village Roadshow. It called for the sale of 25ha of surplus land adjacent to Dreamworld at Coomera, which would be reinvested into the park to fund improvements. Yesterday, Mr Weiss backed the plan but said he was open to learning more about how the company functioned. “We think that (the July plan) is the pathway to restore value,” he said. “It was devised from the outside from our own analysis. “Now we are inside the tent we can get a better understanding of the important levers (driving the company). It is critical to properly examine the future requirements moving forward.” Ardent had opposed the appointment of Dr Weiss and Mr Richmond until releasing a statement on Sunday that called for a “collaborative and unified board”. Last week Ardent outlined a $62.6 million loss for last financial year, largely due to the Dreamworld tragedy. The Dreamworld closure and drop in visitor numbers reduced group revenue by nearly 15 per cent to $586 million while the theme parks operations suffered a 34 per cent fall in revenue to $70.9 million and an earnings loss of $3.4 million. I'm pretty sure the carriage is standard, and they've just turned the seats around. This is why it only has one row because of the head clearance needed in the valleys. If they'd custom designed the rear carriage for rear facing, I reckon they would have extended it to have two rows, so no seats were lost capacity wise. I reckon they could turn the seats around quite easily - its a matter of whether they have another row of seats to put on...1 point

I've seen people riding at the front, but has there been testing with people on the back seat as well? With such a particular first drop *and* the backwards seating, that seems like a really particular experience to test out!1 point

Speaking of RMC a Raptor Track wouldn't do too badly at Dreamworld. Might not be the highest capacity ride but one of those in the Blue Lagoon/Goldrush area would draw some people away from the Ocean Parade side of the park. Could possibly be cheaper than their Wooden/Hybrid creations too.1 point

WORKING!?! Please, that kid has to be maximum 12 years old, I don't think theres any chance he'd be working at Luna Park. Plus even if he was working, parks generally don't tend to tell them new rides that the park will be receiving, let alone a 10+ year plan... *facepalm*1 point

Actventure today received Sunshine Coast Council approval to begin bulk earthworks The Sunshine Council approved the work on 4th September 2017, and SANAD immediately commenced preparations to engage local contractors to begin moving earth as soon as possible. Tenders went out last week to six civil contractors based on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane, who will submit their bids to complete the bulk earthworks for the entire site. The bulk earthworks will entail around 150,000 cubic metres of cut and fill, including a new lagoon area and the beautification of the existing waterways, and immediate preparations for Stage 1 of construction, and all future stages. According to Bradley P. Sutherland, CEO Sanad Capital1 point

Alright, let's get this thread back on topic here. Firstly, g'day @YaBoySlam & welcome to Parkz. Please don't let other members put you off from posting or contributing. As other members have "alluded", B&M haven't reached Australia for a myriad of reasons, but that's not necessarily a bad thing - B&M aren't the necessarily the pinnacle of coaster design & manufacturing like they were in the 90's, in recent years both Intamin & Mack have made unprecedented strides in creating more competitive products than B&M, and I have a lot of confidence that the DC Rivals HyperCoaster will happily be exactly that. As for Dreamworld, i've written about what they could buy at length already. I'd personally love to see them upgrade the Giant Drop in the short term and do something major with a company like RMC in the long term. Not sure who they are? I've thrown a clip down below. It's competitive against Rivals at Movie World and can hold its own, these things just haul ass. As for the rest of you, we were all new here once, so show a little compassion instead of being a dick to new members, yeah? What this place should encourage is funny, intelligent and honest discussion about a hobby we all share, not elitism. So the next time someone asks something you might find silly, be a good sport and point them in the right direction. It's how we build a community of like-minded individuals.1 point

^He's already got a day for the space centre. I presume you've got a hire car as the Mears Shuttle only runs from Disney World on certain days of the week.1 point

I guess it depends on who's traveling with you, but I definitely recommend a trip to Kennedy Space Center. It could serve as a day off from parks if people are feeling not coaster-enthused that day, and it's quite an amazing historical US site to visit. Actual rockets still there, one of the shuttles, plenty for kids, bus tours to the pad (if SpaceX aren't launching)... the Atlantic Ocean is only 30 mins from NASA if you want to tick that off any bucket lists. Obviously the rest of your trip sounds awesome, I had a blast at Universal/IOA back in 2009.1 point

Meh those two coasters have sucked since the day they stopped dueling anyway.1 point

If you're reading touring plans from 2 different sites, I doubt we have anything to offer. The only advice I'd give (and this is general advice, it's not specific to you) is those plans are written by autistic teenagers who don't understand that you're actually at a park to have fun with people you love. It's not all about hitting attractions in the most efficient way possible, particularly with family or kids in tow. Be open to going with the flow at times even if it means missing something. You want happy memories not memories about fighting and kids not eating now because we have to get a spot an hour early for the parade on the left side of the plaza because it means you get to see the floats for a little longer. A combination of a solid game plan and being open to the needs of your group is key. Don't forget to have fun!1 point

Yeah with Orlando the combination of the size of the parks, climate and long operating days means you'll need your rest days for sure or you just end up rooted and not enjoying it towards the end. So if you can, shuffle the activities that won't be full day (Eg Gator Tour, Legoland (The hotel shift day is fixed obviously) in amongst the rest where possible. Also, stop in at the Two Fun Spot parks, since they could be done in an hour or two where you have free time. One of them has the brand new "Mind Blower” Gravity Group woodie with an inversion. The other fun spot on international drive has a GCI woodie and a Vekoma family invert with a layout bigger and different to the one at DW/Legoland. PS its a shame you arrive on the 6th... Dragon Challenge at IOA closes forever on the 4th of September. If I were in your position I would shift flights lol, because it would be a shame to miss such a great pair of unique coasters.1 point

I think your date choice os ideal @Jobe For one reason or another us Aussies love to venture to the US in September, however in my years of experience in Travel I can advise that whilst crowds at the Parks will be lower on international/interstateTourist numbers, annual passes are completely unblocked (not so much of an issue in Orlando mind you), weekends tend to be loads busier, off season trading hours apply so reduced Monday-Friday and certain major attractions may be closed. (Annual Maintenance or being overlayed for Halloween in October). May I ask where in Orlando are you staying and are you renting a car or do you plan to take courtesy transport to Parks etc? Just in my experience, WDW make it rather difficult for People staying on their properties to enjoy Orlando's other attractions. All aside the best advice I can offer is arrive early every day and if you like a drink, try not to go too hard in the evenings.. save that for Hawaii😆 All aside sounds like a tonne of fun @Jobe! You are certainly going to be grateful for that week in Paradise at the end!1 point

Dont underestimate how long a disney park can take to get through especially with the large amount of people that visit the parks every day.1 point

Don't underestimate how exhausting that many full days can be in Orlando at the end of summer.1 point

Sounds good, although I would possibly consider switching up Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios - with so much construction going on at Hollywood Studios, and with Great Movie Ride being closed by then, there's fewer attractions there than there typically would be. Probably a better way to go your first day after arriving given jet lag will have some impact on you.1 point

Sounds like a great trip, @Jobe. Definitely pick up a copy to the Unofficial Guide to DIsneyworld if you haven't already got one. I also follow themepark bloggers who often visit Florida, like That Sounds Fun and Spoonfullofsugar. All the best - I hope you get to stay on site.1 point

Didn't think about that with S&S, I think if seaworld wants to attract even more people they need a drop Tower or something but the can't because if the sea New seaworld.0 points

Disney have it right when it comes to family rides, and why I would pick something like the Wild Wild West log flume ride over Tower of Terror any day. or, better yet, Disney should just buy Dreamworld and convert it into Disneyland Australia. Dreamworld was originally based off of Disneyland anyway so it wouldn't be that hard of a stretch. OK, that may be wishful thinking but a guy can dream can't he?0 points
