  1. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW Just had my first ride on it, and it was incredible. Exceeded my expectations. The air time, the forces, the speed. Wow. What a coaster it is. World class. Not a dull moment throughout, and the surprise airtime for longer than you expect is awesome. What a weird feeling the NIL provides. And the close calls as you move throughout the track is awesome. Wait for about 45 minutes in single rider queue, while normal queue was about the same time. Loading and unloading was very efficient. Well done MW. Now for an update: The road has reopened, and finishing touches being made throughout the area And the poles for the shading have now been installed, just the sails to go

  2. @Reanimated35 I'm not going to MW today. I'm at work today. Will provide updates throughout the day.

  3. I think SW needs to be where the next couple of big investements are made. As it currently stands, I think MW has a pretty kick ass line up. Superman Rivals and Scooby (when it's not shit) might well be one of the great 3 punch combos in the world. Green Lantarn Arkham and Wild West, while not much on the international stage are also really good rides (and WWF is brilliant). They've also got Doomsday and Batwing and Justice Leauge acting as filler. Not a bad line up. Where it falls down for me is a lackluster kiddie ride lineup (Road Runner aside) and shows which are frankly an embarrassment. So that's where I'd be improving the park between now and their next big attraction. Start with a new Stunt Show that isn't a 20min preshow for the fireball. Ideally something with a non DC IP, Mad Max could fit the bill if done right. I think they do need to bite the bullet and come to terms with spending money on IPs too. The parade could also do with being rebuilt from the ground up rather than the endless reshuffling of the same deck of cards it is now. Outside of that I feel like they need to put in the amount of effort into day trade as they do into night events. If I said the street entertainment was lackluster I feel like I'd be talking it up, yet come Carnival or Fright Nights then all of a sudden its worth putting in some effort into making the entertainment good. It doesn't even have to be the most amazing thing ever, even some live music would bring an extra element to the park. Tell me MW wouldn't be a next level park if aside from having a kickass stunt show you also replaced the time share fuckers with some cowboys playing the banjo or fiddle in western town, or some random bands playing in Gotham courtyard or a wandering Jazz band on main street. That wouldn't even be hard but would be so much more real than the current Movie World street show, which is mostly pre recorded dialouge and like 2 or 3 tracks and actors miming to that. Improving the entertainment is an ongoing process that never really finishes, so somewhere in there I'd like the west side of WB Kids demolished from Speedy's to the service road (and the designated parents rest area moved to between the Carousel and Road Runner) with either one really good outdoor kids ride taking that space or a new kids ride package. Either way could work well, particularly with Speedy's gone opening up the area. Combine that with fixing Scooby and turning Stars into a really nice movie memorabilia museum and I think you've got enough little projects to keep you going till you add a big family adventure ride into the show stage in a bunch of years.

  4. Excited to get my first rides today - spent 4 hours in the park from 1pm to close and managed 6 rides on DC Rivals. Managed to get a seat in - Front row, row 6, row 8, row 10 and backwards x 2 Each had its own pros and cons. Nothing will beat that first ride though.. all I can say is OMG - I've only ridden at Six Flags Magic Mountain just prior to twisted collossus opening, and I think this coaster is up there with the best I have ridden! My first ride was in row 6, decent view, good airtime for the middle of the train I was surprised. Front row - incredible view of the twisted track and the feeling of the speed of this coaster! Row 10 - getting whipped over the top of the lift hill and into that incredible drop one of my favourite parts of the ride, some insane airtime over those last few hills and the non inverted loop really feels like your being thrown out of your seat. Backwards.. as everyone has said is something you just have to experience, it's completely different to riding this coaster forward and such a different experience from anything I have ever had before. The only downside to today was that I had to wait a long time for the backwards seats, was sold a time slot which at the time was more than an hour away, then I reached the front of the line they made me wait till the time came up - but were selling new backwards seats to the people behind me for an earlier time which meant they got to go on first. I'm not complaining (I know they are working this out) all I can assume must have happened is they decided to open new spaces in the earlier time slot as the coaster was running ahead of the expected time. It will be interesting to see what the final plan for purchasing these backwards seats will be. INCREDIBLE!!!! I can't wait to do it again!!!

  7. I was in the queue yesterday afternoon and after waiting about 30 minutes or so was at the very front. Would have been on the next ride, and the train was actually at the station. Anyway there was an announcement that there was some sort of technical issue, and the ride would be unable to operate for the remainder of the day (it was 5pm at that stage anyway). As I was leaving I saw some absolute genius ask staff how he can get compensation for the fact he'd been waiting for 90 minutes. I'd have loved to have told him to read the signs on his way out (which he obviously failed to read as he approached the queue ), and to never enter Movie World again! Can't stand that sort of attitude, especially when there are such clear warning signs stating that operating hours were not guaranteed.

  9. With DC Rivals open, it's not likely that Movie World will make any big announcements or moves for a long time, which is understandable with what they have produced. This topic is to suggest little things Movie World can do to improve. Example, create a pathway from A to B. An example of what not to say, create a new area with all new rides and attractions. Here's my proposed plan, feel free to share yours. - Sail DC Rivals queue, just a few poles and some sails will do to create shade for the larger part of the queue, currently your fried waiting in a long queue. - Get rid of the queue for justice league, the queuing inside is cooler and is enough to compensate for the amount of riders even in heavy traffic. I don't see a need to have people queue outside for Justice League. Maybe even set up a DC Rivals Store. - Improve streets parade, just do it please, I have no interest in seeing looney tunes dance. The superheroes and super villains parade was great and I hope it returns for good! - Improve HWSD, I mean the show really needs a complete makeover, but we're talking minor, so changing the stunts and storyline could certainly help the show out for regular park guests who are not interested in HWSD anymore. - Improve Arcade, take out the outdated, old arcade games and add more recent and new arcade games. They have barely changed and the variety is very lacklustre. Their are also no good claw machines. - Shut down Scooby Doo until referb, all it's doing is making regular non-enthusiasts angry as they just believe that MW has removed the scenery and that's it. So close it until it is presentable, it's also influencing reviews of Movie World. - Change up the Shows- Once again, if you can change the shows for a superheroes/villains event, surely you can change/mix up the regular one's with new stories and character. *Hint - I want to see penguin. - More free roam characters- Superheroes/villains event did it right, always a couple of characters roaming, and they were all different instead of your vanilla batman and superman. I mean it's fine to have them seeing as they are the faces of Movie World, but chuck in some villains. *Not just the Joker. Also, it was good having the cop car as it was a good place to get a photo with a character with a cool background, instead of random people walking around. Makes photos feel more like ride photos where you are put into a setting. - More buffet options- Not everyone likes pizza, maybe mix it up, I mean pizza is the only option unless you fancy eating batman bread and chips. - Do a little bit extra with the Batwing- Smoke coming out of the bottom when you are about to take off, flashing lights when you take off. Just these little things enhance the ride experience. - More interaction- I don't think the DC wristbands are good at all, but if they want to make them more appealing, add some intractable games or whatever in the courtyard of Arkham asylum. Their is plenty of space, but make sure they are more interesting, maybe riddler puzzles. That's it for now, feel free to leave suggestions and tell me that this topic is stupid. Thanks

  10. Early access for annual pass holders can now be booked from the park's website. 8:30am access to the park, running for two weeks from next week and then on the weekends for a few more.

  11. Nope, the bridge is the surrogate observation area, apart from the new footpath running alongside the length of the ride.

  12. It's really great though. Since everyone flocks to DC Rivals, it gives everyone else a chance to enjoy the other rides the park has to offer. At about 4 O'clock on Sunday, lines in Superman were only 5 minutes. Same for Arkham, GL and Batwing.

  13. I'd wait 10 years before the queues would be short enough to be able to marathon this.

  14. All good advice there ^^^ Also, if you are heading south, do not avoid Nagashima Spa Land or Parque Espana. Nagashima Spa Land is just a 30 minute bus away from Shin-Nagoya Station and Parque Espana is easy enough to get to from Shin-Osaka via the Kintetsu Line and a courtesy bus. I'd highly suggest staying the night at the resort next store, too.

  15. If you can only spend one day at Disney then do DisneySea. I found Tokyo Disneyland was very lacklustre, was just missing the magic. DisneySea also has Fantasmic and they do a great job of it. The Disney multi day tickets don't allow park hopping until Day 3 or Day 4, just be aware of that when visiting. We spend a Sunday afternoon, Monday and Tuesday there, and we found that crowds start thinning out at 4pm and beyond. Leave the park and head around to Ikspiari to grab lunch though, we found the food in park was really not value for money. Tower of Terror fast passes were always the first to go on the days we were there, followed by Pooh's Honey Hunt. 20,000 leagues was fine to line up in standby, but Journey to the Center of the Earth was definitely a fast pass ride. If you head to Universal, then Harry Potter will be the biggest wait for the day, so head there first.

  17. I was lucky enough to get 10th row and then back row straight afterwards. I can say, 10th row is CRAZY intense on the bunny hills. Definitely the most extreme airtime hills i've experienced. The NIL is also extremely intense on row 10, but even more intense going backwards, because it really drags you down quickly. REALLY smart idea to add these backwards seats.

  18. I've experienced a couple of different ride ops where some will say go to row 'such and such' and some will just count you through & let you decide. When I got to decide I hopped In row 10, however they miss counted and the ride op told us we could go on the next train in the front row.. which of course I agreed to 😂 Row 10 I wouldn't see as a problem by just asking on the way through if you can go into that row. For the front you would obviously have to stand aside & wait for the next train. Got to give it to the awesome MW staff for letting people do that 👏🏼 especially if you have been waiting in line for an hour & wanting a specific row.

  19. Hi all, I'm new to the Parkz forums so I thought I'd finally make a post. Sorry to bump this older thread, was lacking the courage to start a new one and I think the topic fits anyway Found this article from the Illawarra Mercury: http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/4916625/swept-up-with-excitement-as-jamberoo-action-park-prepares-to-open/ First notable point is the mention of theming upgrades for The Perfect Storm. Although there was a strobe installed last season (I think), from this it sounds like it's getting a bit of an upgrade. Hopefully they will have fully darkened the covered Tornado 60. Second point is, once again, a mention of a new attraction in the coming years: Now I will treat this part with some skepticism, but judging by Jamberoo's investments in recent years, this could be something pretty huge. Personally, I was hoping for a Proslide HydroMagnetic Rocket, but judging by this description, that option seems to be out. Side-note: I think that a Hydromagnetic Rocket would do wonders for Jamberoo, maybe they're saving it for further down the track. As another user said, it would be awesome if they built one after all the rest of Kangaroo Island is complete, then it could weave around the other attractions. So at this stage I'm thinking hoping that this might be something like a Behemoth Bowl 40 (or 60!?) then two Tornado WAVE 60's back to back, similar to the one that's just gone in at Volcano Bay in Orlando. I hear that ride is one of their most popular. Ticks both boxes of "world first" and "three rides in one". Then again, it could just be a play on words, and be three different tube / body slides (in some "never-before-seen" combination). What does everybody think?? scadam.

  20. I've been lucky enough to get on row 10 and I've gotta say. It's the closest you're going to get to the backwards seat while still facing the right way. It is almost as intense as riding it backwards but with the ability to see what's coming up. Whenever I go facing forwards, I'm hoping for row 10.

  21. Movie World isn't a Six Flags or Cedar fair park. The current coaster lineup is now world class, probably just behind the most well known parks worldwide, Movie World does not need another coaster for a while now. My priority now for MW is getting scooby doo and WWF back to their best. Those can be the two best themed rides in the country.

  25. You're not the only one they have lost I have not been to a village roadshow park in the last 2-3 years and neither has anyone else I know simply because of how over the years they remove classics like looney tunes river ride or the matrix exhibit and replace it with absolute crap such as driving school and a couple of carnival games over at movie world or with nothing at all in the case of sea viper and the pirate ship over at seaworld.

  26. This review and experience is purely based on the soft opening on 16 September 2017. (No photos as there's plenty of time for those later) Front Row: While the back row is great, and more on that later, nothing IMO will beat the experience of riding this hypercoaster in the front row. Not only do you get the unobstructed views of everything, but you get the full eye watering force of the wind in your face and a good look at the track and theming on the train. Rating: 10/10 - Would definitely do again given the chance. Backwards: 100% worth the money. The forces seem a decent amount stronger when riding backwards. It's $10 for a backwards seat. I spent $30 on day one. Would have been a lot more if there were more hours in the day. Going up the lift hill, and throughout a lot of the ride, the only thing holding you down is the OTSR. That's an incredible feeling I haven't experienced on anything other than a flying coaster before. Rating: 10/10 - Time to start saving. Theming: There's not much, which is as expected, but what's there is good. Much like the coaster itself, it's big and it's bold and bright. In saying that, it would have been nicer to see something similar to what's in the DC Villains area. For me, there was also a couple of things with the theming I didn't like. Firstly, and this is very little so doesn't detract from my overall opinion of the ride, the DC Rivals sign just to the left of the queue. The sign itself is nice and will make great photos, but whatever cleaning product they used on day one left it all covered in white streaks. They're going to need stainless steel cleaner or something less streaky. The other things I would have liked (which I have docked a couple of points for) would have been something on the ceiling of the station. Ideally that would be themed hero/villain mannequins hanging in fighting poses. If not that, even just a nice coloured ceiling. Just something other than a plain ceiling really. Finally, the positioning of the test seat. Why put it part way through the queue when you can almost guarantee for the next several months the queue will snake out long past the test seat and back towards the GL queue if not further. There's plenty of space back in the entry area/courtyard. Rating: 8/10 - It's almost there, but just missing that last little kick which would make it great, and the test chair is in a stupid spot. Load/Unload: Maybe it was because it was day 1 and everyone was really keen to be involved, but the loading and unloading procedures were some of the best I've seen at an Australian park. The next bunch of guests would be staged at the gates before the train made it back to the station, even when they were running two trains. Everyone was in and out very quickly and there was no waiting for the last ride to clear the station before opening the air gates. The item drop is well positioned and works well. I have high hopes of this procedure and speed staying for quite some time given that the ride will be popular for years and they'll want to push through as many people as they can so the lines don't get too long. I really hope we don't hit off season and see them drop back to 3 ride ops (1x Control, 2x platform). Rating: 10/10 - Let's hope it stays that way. Staff: Huge credit to the opening day crew. They were super friendly, happy and genuinely looked to be enjoying their jobs and excited to be working on the ride. They were always smiling and chatting with guests and they really helped add to the excitement and atmosphere of the opening. Rating: 10/10 - Excellent staff. Ride Experience: The ride just does not let up from start to finish. There's constant speed, thrills, airtime and excitement. You do get thrown around a decent amount, but the seats are comfy and there doesn't really seem to be any violent head banging or anything. The ride is incredibly smooth and silent. I've never been on a coaster this close to construction before so I don't know if this is fairly standard for coasters or if this is really something special. Will be interesting to see how it ages over the next few years. Rating: 10/10 - Would ride again. Overall: There is nothing in Australia that's going to beat this for a very long time, if ever. I can't personally see Dreamworld investing in anything that comes even close to this and it doesn't make sense for VRTP to invest in something this large to compete with themselves for a good decade or more. This is truly hands down the best coaster in Australia and in my opinion would rank very highly among the worlds' top coasters. Rating: 9.6/10 - I don't care if the math doesn't work. It's not a perfect score because of the theming and the test seat position. The ride itself though would get a 10/10. Personal Top 3: Tatsu (SFMM), Rivals (WBMW), Ghostrider (KBF). While Rivals is an excellent coaster, for me there's just something unique about flying coasters that can't be beaten.

  28. Just got to ride for the first time in row 10. Absolutely incredible, and those last hills have to be some of the best parts. The single rider queue is definitely the way to it, and obviously Slick and a few others feel the same

  29. Just rode the backwards seats and I honestly didn't enjoy it. I felt a bit sick backwards and the airtime isn't as good a the front. But the ride itself is amazing, definitely my number one beating X2 and Twisted Colossus.

  31. My first ride on this was backwards. Definitely a must do. It does feel a lot more smoother going forwards though especially at the front of the train as you aren't just being flung around at the tail end through the tight corners. I could only do backwards twice before calling it quits due to it giving me a headache. The bunny hops are the end are awesome going backwards, as is the ascent to the top. Looking out over to the Batwing, you can definitely see that you are just above it as you reach the top of the lift hill. Definitely recommend going backwards for your first time on it as it makes it a bit more thrilling when you cannot see what it coming up. Nice shot of @Slick there!

  35. This whole topic gives me nostalgia goosebumps even though I never went to Australia. It's great to show coasters and amusement parks aren't just about the present and the future, however bright they are. There's a throwback appeal with the old footages that is really unique

  36. But using that logic, you could say the same thing about dry park rides. Why do people expect to see Dreamworld theme their rides? Because of the atmosphere and the feeling it creates. Look, I do see your point. I do think water parks can get away with minimal theming in some cases. But they should at least have excellent landscaping and great presentation and signage to make up for it. Lush tropical landscaping can be a good alternative to decent theming. But we certainly don't see that at WnW Sydney, which basically reminds me of an expanded H20 Zone. I remember back when WnW Gold Coast first installed White Water Mountain and for a while it was a real move to immersive themed attractions. As a kid I had never had any interest in visiting the park, until this attraction opened. I remember the picture on the front of the brochure showing two people on a raft flying out of the themed White Water Mountain. The brochure also made reference to the fibre optic special effects that were installed on the slide. This was enough to make me want to go to the park. Not too long after they opened Calypso Beach: another brilliantly immersive attraction with a very distinctive theme and lots of attention to detail. Then -- and despite obvious attendance success -- they gave up. We got H20 Zone with no theming, super basic signage and almost no landscaping. It's like a water park version of Luna Park's Maloney's Corner. They repeated this at WnW Sydney; reversed only very, very slightly when they re-themed the kids area to Nickelodeon. Thankfully we have these other Australian water parks which understand the value of creating a bit of additional excitement and atmosphere. I personally appreciate the creativity and effort involved. And just like WnW GC back in the '90s, Jamberoo even managed to bring the story inside the slide, with special effects in the main funnel.
