This is why we can't have nice things. Idiots like that taking their phones onto a ride like that isn't a smart or safe idea. And if people keep doing it, or something does happen (Someone injured by a loose item), then it could see system change to like whats SE is, and we don't want that.5 points

Threw this together really quickly to ease your minds.3 points

Really poor map. My husband and I have done a lot of design work with parks in Victoria over the last 12 years, designing 3 different park maps over that time. They're not easy to create but this one doesn't communicate the park clearly or show off the rides very well. It looks like 'shed city'.2 points

Not a fan, here's my reasoning: There's a reason why all of Disney's parks, all of Cedar Fair's parks, Hershey, Silver Dollar City, Dollywood, Dreamworld etc. etc. all use a similar design language - by not being a 1:1 scaled photorealistic design, you can augment the widths of paths and skew attraction sizes so that the map can show access routes far more easily. Universal's is probably the closest in design, but even then their version of photorealistic is by and large not a 1:1 scale style map like this one. There's no soul. With the previous maps being hand drawn, they had this sense of being a still life scene of being inside the park.2 points

Really? Easier to follow. It doesn't have paths on it. It's utterly useless. If the point is to be a representation online thats fine, but you couldn't get around the park with it2 points

Yet no Facebook live to broadcast it nationally during "prime time" for little effort or cost. Missed opportunity IMO1 point

@pin142 the ride experience is nothing like the POV, it is the smoothest ride I have ever been on. Smoother than some of the kids rides out there. That POV doesn't completely do it justice.1 point
-
That's the thing, they've built the smoothest coaster and then released the shakiest shittiest POV. Just like the timelapse they released.1 point

I am yet to ride it but based on that PoV I would be less likely as it looks kinda rough. Being someone who's gone from the animation to that I would be asking why it seems so rough in real life when it probably isn't.1 point

It's called Movie World's current marketing department. Failing at life.1 point

Yeah, curious to know why they wouldn't at least try to mount it correctly. By the looks of things they've sent it to a bunch of media outlets - wouldn't you invest a little to showcase your multi multi multi million dollar ride in the best possible light? We're smart enough to know it doesn't ride like dogshit, but to the average guest...1 point

As if you'd build Australia's biggest roller coaster ever and then release a park map that only fits the first drop in.1 point

The weather is not gonna be nice for the launch. Hopefully it clears as I want to try this Beast this weekend.1 point

It's TERRIBLE, just like all their marketing initiatives of late. So ugly and basic. I personally think a theme park's map is vital. Not to mention I could barely look at it in mobile as they are still using their old site. I had to come back here to look at the version uploaded in this thread. It just doesn't make the park look fun at all. I don't know why they didn't just use the artist who created the WnW Sydney map - that style is much more suitable for a theme park. It's also a shame they couldn't fit more of DC RIvals in. If they'd gone for a style with more artistic license, rather than trying to be 'realistic', they could have.1 point

Official launch party is tonight. Been giving away passes all week on local radio1 point

There is a really simple solution to this problem - Movie World should make a better POV video (or several) and release it/them. People want videos of this ride because it is new and scarcity makes the videos more valuable encouraging idiots to do things like this. The best way to prevent people from doing things like this is to provide a better alternative. This is something that Movie World may have planned after (or as part of) the official launch, but the solution is to make the risk greater than the reward. After all, this guy's video is now posted on this forum and will get a lot of views as a result, so the reward will have been worth it for him.1 point

It has just opened for today with 2 trains. Loads of signage and equipment setup for tomorrow's official launch!1 point

I myself quite like how they've done it, but when it comes to being used by guests, it's useless. There was no need to keep the studio paths on there, just confuses everyone a little bit more.1 point

I can appreciate how realistic this map actually is. I also quite like the type of animation/artwork. However as a map it fails miserably. I think it's fine for a website, though.1 point

Finally got a 10th row ride & a backwards ride today. Amazing! So many unexpected forces while riding backwards & that first drop is definitely my favourite sitting in the back. Even after riding forwards a couple of times, I was still not ready for what was coming. At some points you think the coaster is slowing down then boom, you get hit with an intense corner & dive straight back down. 10th row has to be my favourite facing forward. The first drop is awesome & coming out of the NIL is so intense. If you don't like intense rides however, the front would be a better option (even though the front is still pretty intense lol). Finally, let me just say I cannot wait for the shade to be added over the queue line 🙌1 point

It is going to be a great ride. The theme was originally supposed to be more GOT meets war craft and as with Abyss. I would have preferred something a bit dirtier/harder/solid, given the nature of the ride but that's just an opinion. Well done to Phillip and the incredibly talented team at Atomiq who of course themed the Claw ride at DW and Abyss and Kraken, Theme builders and James at Creative Works, and with the lap restraints will be a big hit this year hopefully. Fingers crossed for the team as I know they always work EXTREMELY hard on these things for each new season. Good luck and I hope it rocks! M.1 point

Actually would a ride like the claw be a good replacement for BR. A version that does not go much hirer than the horizontal line. Like BR swinging range.1 point

Movie World have finally updated their park map on the website, with a whole new look. But personally I'm not sure if I like this new style they've gone with. Thoughts?0 points
