  1. I think that whole Wonderland video discussion is just total insanity. It's a DEAD AND BURRIED closed park. Sure some people have some lovely memories, but I can't see why there is infighting over some pics and videos of something that is well and truely in the past. I don't get the whole 'Wonderland circle' it's a bit nuts. Think people should just be happy others are talking about/interested in it.

  2. The whole thing kept me up last night. I realize that now I was in the wrong for not grabbing permission first, but being threatened with a formal DMCA take-down just shook me up. I should have thicker skin at this point because I've been harassed by every music label under the sun but the fact that it was coming from a community I heavily respected just hit hard. I had plans to make some other videos on Wonderland and it's history including it's licensing with Marvel, the ride's current statuses, etc but I'm scrapping those topics to talk about Old Sydney Town and Luna Park. I think I'm done with Wonderland for now.

  3. A little bit of shameless self-promotion, as I visited again Phantasialand last week as part of the GhosterForce meeting. In addition to the fab Brühl, discovered Movie Park Germany, Heide Park and Hansa. Definitely expect Trip Reports coming up! @Gazza Will definitely upload the most valuable pics to the site if you want

  5. Honestly this is an utterly absurd debate. No question that you ticked every box by way of fair dealings and copyright law. You took a whole lot of amateur content and and re-purposed it into something new that stepped on no one's toes in any meaningful way. Chalk this up as yet another display of thuggery and short-sightedness from those still clinging to Wonderland.

  7. Also took some video while I was at Dreamworld checking out EMMR. Not exactly on topic but I'm one of those people who love the 'miserable' weather Dreamrain.mp4 EDIT: YouTube Link https://youtu.be/vIV4yZuO3Y4

  9. Futuroscope's manager, Dominique Hummel, has recently announced the construction of a major roller coaster at the park for 2019. The coaster would cost 22 million euros, theming included, which would be the biggest investment of the park for a long while. Source in French: http://www.centre-presse.fr/article-558530-le-futuroscope-attend-pesquet-loeb-et-une-montagne-russe.html Additional info surfaced on the dedicated Futuroscope fan: - The coaster's height requirement will be 105 cm or 42 inches - It will be themed to a space adventure - Will have both indoor and outdoor sections - One of the element would be a freefall drop section of track. Source in French: http://www.forum-futuroscope.net/t829p30-projet-de-coaster-sur-l-espace-au-futuroscope-fin-2019 Very interesting news. Futuroscope has never been coaster-focused. In fact, they only have one roller coaster and it's just a Sunkid Butterfly. But they have a strong financial momentum. I'm very curious how the regular Futuroscope audience will react to this departure from their usual style. It is a fascinating gamble that could well expand the park's reach. Futuroscope is one of the largest French amusement parks and is located near Poitiers, in the western-ish part of the country. It generally has a 2M visitors attendance.

  10. I've answered the swearing question. Move on.

  11. Why is Parkz so accepting of people who use offensive language on these forums. Not only is it an unprofessional look for the website (it is Australia's most reputable website for discussing theme parks after all) but it is also offensive to some individuals. On top of that, children probably use this site too. Sometimes you just need to think about what you plan to say before you say it.

  12. I visited Futuroscope way back in 2001 on a school trip to France. Whilst not your typical theme park it was actually a pretty good park showing all the different types of movie style rides (Motion simulators, 4D etc.). All of the attractions were of a very high quality. The addition of a roller coaster knowing their attention to detail would be awesome!

  13. The one that was on the Gold Coast travel centre was a R50 model (50m tall) and not the R60 model like the Wheel of Brisbane and Sea World Eye. The one that used to be on the Gold Coast was actually the unit that was sent to Perth and was owned by World Tourist Attractions and only had 36 gondola's vs the 42 on the Brisbane / Sea World one. The Sea World Eye was actually originally from London as the "Wheel of Birmingham" and was relocated to Sea World in 2006 after being brought by World Tourist Attractions and leased to Sea World. After all the issues with Sea World that particular wheel didn't operate in Australia again. We have had 3 Bussnik wheel's in Australia in total. 2 of the R60's (Brisbane and Sea World) and a R50 model which was the Gold Coast one later transported to Perth. The only model left is now the one in Brisbane. There was also another wheel that operated in Perth for a while which was a Mondial unit (SkyView) hope this answers your questions

  14. Can confirm that that seats/harness for Rivals is a little more restrictive than Scooby doo. My wife rides Scooby doo (attendants always give the bar an extra push down for her to squeeze her in) but she couldn’t fit on rivals. Not by much kind you, the clip was less than an inch from clicking in. She’s never had issues with any other ride. Unhappy wife after I rode it twice forwards and backwards in my own. It’s what I get for marrying a big bootied girl.

  16. Well. Their Gyro swing is awesome, brings in so many people to their park. Nothing is down for maintenance very often, around 1 week maximum per ride per year. It's looking far more cleaner, the corkscrew recently got a paint job to get rid of all of that rust, but it's still as bumpy as it used to be. You should visit the park sometime, it's much better than it was 10 years ago.

  17. I always find it so sad when the Corkscrew at Rainbows End is simply referred to as "The Roller Coaster"

  18. Thank you Alex. I'm all about transparency. It was never my intention to cause any drama, I just want to create videos about theme parks and for people to enjoy them. It was an inexperienced move on my behalf not to seek permission first, but I'm trying to make things right. Thankfully I've learnt a valuable lesson early into the series.

  19. I finally got a chance to ride Rivals Backwards last weekend during the early entry and I must say it is a completely different experience to riding it forwards. Despite knowing this track pretty well, backwards completely throws you off and at times often forgot about parts of the ride. The first drop feels even longer and more forceful, and the airtime throughout the whole ride is insane. And the NIL is a whole other level of crazy. Because of the 'not knowing where you are going', I did feel very sick afterwards, but that was just me personally and Im sure not everyone will react the same. But if you think you've got the stomach for it, a highly recommend riding it backwards.

  20. I wasn't sure which thread to post this in, so forgive me if I'm out of place here. And I know it's been open a couple of weeks, and I'm late on this, but anyone who has ridden this beast will understand my overwhelming desire to vent on how damn good this coaster is. I live 6 hours from the Gold Coast, but as soon as I had a break in work and other commitments, I left in the early hours of yesterday morning (taking advantage of daylight savings) to get to Movie World at opening. And the minute I took the Pacific Highway exit, I wondered what I had gotten myself into. This thing towers over the park, it's intimidating, and incredibly photogenic. But if I thought I was wetting my pants driving past it, I had another thing coming when the train exited the station for the first time, and I was staring at the massive stairway to heaven that is the chain lift. In a mixture of nerves and excitement for my first hypercoaster, I couldn't sit still in my seat, much to the amusement of the young lady next to me. The chain lift is so fast and steep, you barely have time to gather your thoughts and pull yourself together before that awesome Joker face is looming right over you. And boy, is it a long way to look down from the front rows. But immediately after the chain let go of the train, all fears and regrets were immediately washed away. That first drop is the single greatest element I have ever experienced on a roller coaster (no exaggeration, although I'm fairly inexperienced to be fair). The air-time is on a level that we have not so much as gotten close to in Australia. And it's not just the first drop. The air-time hill blasts you out of your seat, before that incredible non-inverted loop, which is so fast and chaotic that you barely have time to think about it. Your backside bounces like a ping-pong ball on and off the seat as you're ejected with such force and intensity, over and over. I agree with people that the Stengel dive is pretty forceless, but by that time I was having the time of my life, so who cares? The turn-around is another amazing pop of speedy air-time, and you pick up an awesome amount of speed diving around the bend. The twists and turns that follow, as well as the helix, were so much more forceful and fast than I expected - not to mention those bunny hills, which really pull the whole thing together with a few more incredible blasts of ejector air-time before the brake run. By the end, I was so high on what had just occurred - it was like all my Christmases had come at once... And then I rode it backwards. MY GOD. The first drop backwards is perhaps the most intense thing I have ever done - and I've been skydiving. Being dragged over the rise suddenly, and ejecting into the harness, before plummeting straight down as you stare back up at that looming Joker face... Incredible. I was speechless at the end, which gave the ride operators a laugh. The entire coaster is made so much better by going backwards. The elements catch you by surprise, which seems to at least double their force. Not to mention being at the rear of the train, meaning you're pulled with such force and intensity through the air-time moments, especially the non-inverted loop. The seats are comfortable enough that, even though you get thrown around because you can't prepare yourself, it's still a smooth ride that isn't uncomfortable in the slightest. I ended up spending $30 on backwards seats throughout the day. And the staff? The staff do an incredible job. They were running through cycles at express pace, even when the line was backed up almost to the test seat. And the interactions with the operating staff when sitting in the backwards seats were enough to bring a big grin to my face every time. They know they have a world-class attraction on their hands, and they seem to enjoy that fact. Movie World, you've knocked it out of the park. Heck, we could build another park around the park and you'd knock it out of that one. DC Rivals is the greatest thing ever to happen to Australian theme parks, and if you haven't treated yourself to a ride yet, you're in for a treat. Get in line, do it forwards, and then have a blue note ready to do the only thing that could possibly be better than that - BACKWARDS. I wish there was a sixth star so I could give this more than just five, because by God it deserves it.

  21. Wow this is getting amusing @Reanimated35 Firstly I made a typo and wrote addressES, which sent you into some carry on about sending something from another account with a typical modern reason of "couldn't be bothered" Also I think you're just plain and simple not getting it, you may just be too self absorbed for it to be possible but I'll try spell it out for everyone playing at home... 1) I'm not defending the park for selling something not quite fully fleshed out... IM BLAMING YOU for being stupid enough to buy something that you didn't fully know what it was!!! All because you need to be first. 2) I'm not saying the package isn't a special experience. I'm saying that you're pissed because they didn't make YOU feel 'special' and by that I'm saying "superior to everyone else and treated like the theme park elite you think you are" 3) I believe seeing all the shows and having a premium experience can be mutually exclusive things. I don't think you quite get that buying UTT isnt a free pass to experience everything the event has to offer in one night, with zero waiting. It's merely a different way to experience it. There is always a trade off for the paid upcharge option, whether it be missing a show at fright nights , or not getting to see the full immersive standby que at Disneyland. Otherwise it's just a real up yours to the people who don't pay for it. 4) I think you're giving yourself way too much delusional credit when you think a priority at the end of night one is to be all concerned with your notes in a debrief.

  22. Just met a few Parkz members. Enjoy, everyone! I believe I just had a religious experience. Backwards is magical. I know this track by heart from the construction thred, yet was still blown away by the G's everywhere, especially in the snappy turns, and I agree with the posts before me - airtime in the back seat is insane, especially the bunny hops! Felt like I was being thrown out the back of a ute going over a crest. I also like the dips in the helix, those G's felt great in reverse. 2 Trains running!

  24. Dreamworld needs to convert that zombie scare maze/laser tag building into a dark ride to replace thunder river rapids and build some big thrill ride like a gigacoaster or something unique like the nations first 4d coaster something that can one up movie world all while finishing up repairs on all their currently closed rides.
