  1. Yeah, the film crew there today was some political thing. Whilst im here, I can’t believe how amazing this ride is. I’ve riden all the “greatest” coasters throughout the US and DC rivals is genuinely up there amongst my top 5. The airtime on those last 3 bunny hills on the backwards seats is the best airtime I’ve EVER experienced. The force throughout the helix is a lot weaker than I expected but it still knocks hard! Mack truly created a the perfect coaster, this coaster is an actual masterpiece.

  4. While I've only actually been on it three times, 1st time backwards then straight away forwards then the 3rd time backwards again (a few weeks later) I actually found forwards a little underwhelming. I think I was underwhelmed* with forwards because backwards is so good. And I agree, the air time on those 'little' bunny hills is awesome, I wasn't expecting that. * just to clarify, it's still an awesome ride going forwards but to me, backwards is next level.

  5. Bet the same people going on about Tiger Island are those who were going on about horse racing on Melbourne Cup day. Guess it is almost the weekend and at the rate they are going they will be back to complaining about Sea World by the weekend. Nothing like armchair activists jumping on the bandwagon and blindly following whatever is being complained about. Think it is safe to say if the park was mistreating the animals there would be little chance they would still have them nor would any organisations affiliated with the saving of tigers have anything to do with the park.

  6. Here's a video I shot earlier in the year that'll give you a glimpse into what a daily routine is like at Tiger Island - Here's the thing - i'd put my name behind Tiger Island - the team there live & breathe those cats, and i've spent enough time back of house there doing film work and whatnot to really vouch for the quality of care they all receive. And that's backed by the fact that they're also the biggest contributor to conserving wild tigers anywhere in the world - seriously, no one gives more shits than the team there. The problem here, at least in my mind, is the same thing that happens when people are faced with the harsh reality of where their meat products come from - turning livestock into tasty steaks has a few real world realities people forget about, just like how there's real world realities in keeping endangered, wild apex animals in captivity for the purposes of conservation, breeding & education. The only way you keep a species that's typically not a pack animal in captivity is by spending a lot of time and attention on ensuring boundaries and checks are established with those animals, and this video that's gone viral is the reality of what happens when large predators want to test those boundaries and checks. Let's be also really clear, there's no punching here, and it's absolutely not like pulling your cat's tail, but people are clearly imposing those ideas onto this situation because the reality is these tigers look just as cute and cuddly as the domesticated counterparts, despite the fact that they'd rip each other and the handlers into shreds given half the chance. The simple reality is, their tails are far, far stronger than your everyday cat, and the studied & documented way to re-enforce large cat behaviour (that's sanctioned by both RSCPA and many zoo-oligical societies) is 100% what these handlers did. Again, saying you can't hit your kids and thus they shouldn't hit the tigers is ludicrous. They're not hitting or punching the tigers for one, they're tapping them on the nose (as do other cats), and let's not forget that unlike your kid, big predators don't understand logic and reason or cause and effect, so the kind of rationale that you can somehow talk to wild animals and they'll listen like your just like your kids is bafflingly out of touch with reality. Guys, they're wild animals, and they are treated as such. You'd make Dreamworld wrong if they didn't and they hurt someone or hurt another tiger. People freaked when a tiger in a Chinese zoo mauled a live animal, something that happens in the wild. Where's the line? You want tigers in the wild but somehow you want the problem of them being poached to magically solve itself? Lemme guess, you want no tigers at all in captivity but don't have an alternative to preserving numbers? This is the best solution we've got, and thanks to Dreamworld & Tiger Island, it bloody works, and their efforts should be applauded, not condemned.

  8. *Headdesk* There is no land in surfer's paradise. Anywhere there is land usually has a highrise on it. If there isn't, there will be soon. The few places that aren't and won't are too small for a facility like this. Before you continue this point please link to a suitably sized block on google maps. Sea World's grass parking lot isn't actually Sea World's. It's Crown Land - the same land that was subject of a development application for a huge casino. It's not an option. TG is on a highway. Not the GC highway - but a much busier highway on the National route. (*tip - real highways usually don't have traffic lights, and frequently have speedlimits of 100km/h and up) Not behind a theme park - point already clarified but included for completeness. Not due to open until next year. Clearly the marketing team at VRL aren't that shit hot, and probably won't start marketing until maybe a month from opening. settle down. When you assume you... oh fuck it - you're making statements about things you haven't even researched properly yet. You've named the syndrome appropriately so I see no need to further insult you. You're arguing that a destination attraction should be closer to where people stay, ignoring the destination Attractions that are literally surrounding it, that thousands of people tourists visit Every. Damn. Day. WnW \ MW are open until 5pm most days. The best period for this type of attraction is after dark. You'll get your corporates and your birthday parties in during the day, but the real business is when the sun goes down - so those thousands of people already at the parks may decide to keep the party going at TopGolf, instead of driving all the way back to their hotel and then deciding where to go - this ISN'T just a place to hit golf balls. I just went to the topgolf site, and chose a USA venue at random - in this case, Atlanta. The amenities listed include: 100+ climate-controlled hitting bays Full-service restaurant & bars Private event spaces & meeting rooms Rooftop terrace with fire pit Sure, Golf is their number one activity - it's in the name... but a restaurant, multiple bars, event spaces, meeting rooms and a terrace and fire pit aren't exactly 'hitting golf balls'. Designed the right way you can put in a dance floor, host celebrity DJs, and the 'hitting golf balls' aspect becomes just a small cog in a big money making machine, that will prove insanely popular for after-darkers. It can also be a place to eat and start drinking before moving on to other venues. A few guys running shuttle buses will make a mint shuttling people to the strip - drunk people pay crazy prices when they want to go somewhere (actually, strike that - Uber will just set up a new route).

  9. There are plenty of works happening throughout SW too And it seems like an all new attraction is coming to the entrance pathway outside SW And an update on the Sea Lion Theatre

  10. I don’t expect any large expenditure from MW for at least 3 years. We know we are getting a major attraction at SW in 2019, so I imagine 2018 will see only minor works across all parks... MW - would be nice to see HWSD finally run its last race and be replaced with a new experience. A new kids flat for WB Kids would be a nicer top off but not expected SW - improved food offerings would be nice. I think their options are poor, but that’s just me. WnW is Due, something, anything.

  11. There's something very cooked/shit about how the show timing for that ride works. Did you stop mid ride? It's like it starts the timing when you dispatch and then runs because if ever there's a stop everything is out and runs out before you end the ride.

  12. @Tim Dasco You'll be disappointed then, because they've installed some large screens on the other side. I think really, a part from advising TP, having this large banner up means you wont just be looking at a blue wall as you drive past. The pipes which were stored in the MW carpark are all on the corner of the site And here is a closer look at parts of the building
