Dreamworld rebounds with big crowds for the peak season Dreamworld is feeling once again like its former self with peak season crowds descending on the theme park. Click here to continue reading3 points

Really wish you’d remove that signature Push.. it’s beyond annoying. I’m not aware of any of this style of attraction that offers multiple ride programs and shows concurrently so I severely doubt you’ll find it happen with the DW incarnation. It will be the same format/theme for at least a few years imo.. that hardly hampers the experience if done well though.. BA:TR didn’t change for several years and it remained popular and re-rideable (well at least the original version)3 points

Just to de-rail this thread some more... The Tower of Terror is one of my all time favourites, it's just a classic for me, AND i'd totally support removing it tomorrow because: it's ridiculously loud, especially when compared to any modern ride it divides the park and the white tin tunnel is a horrendous sight it doesn't do what it advertises anyway (go 160k/ph and 115m) It's nearly 21 years old and well into its twilight years anyway given the current state of electronics and ride systems Since Dreamworld are so into pinching my ideas i'll throw them another one i've already written about - scrap Tower of Terror & Giant Drop, keep the tower, and install a Sky Jump (Falcon's Fury/Ikaros) - then you'd actually have a modern thrill ride that would be as terrifying as Rivals, would market well, wouldn't cost a whole lot to retrofit and could be integrated into the Rocky Hollow space.2 points

Whilst it’s lifespan is certainly closer to an end than it’s beginning, in my opinion, it can’t even be a consideration until there are 3-4 strong additions to the park. Do you remove the tower and lose GD too? Or just the track? We’re talking about a park that had intentions on reopening a decade-long closed attraction if it’s was at all possible. TOT2 won’t be going anywhere until it literally can’t make it out the tunnel anymore...2 points

That may be true, but DCA has a lot more going for it that DW. TOT2 still holds the longest lines consistently in the park - partially due to a terrible capacity - but also because it’s a unique attraction to the park. Whilst it bisects a large portion of the park, it doesn’t particularly encroach on the area being redeveloped, the removal of the track wouldn’t really provide enough land for a substantial or equally unique attraction in its place either due to the elevation and layout2 points

Most Australian rides come from Europe and carry with them that sizing. The US has largely expanded the sizes of many of its rides to accommodating their increasingly overweight population. Thats why you will see lager sized seats etc at Disney parks as they are designed by them. Relatively standard off the shelf European coasters in the US are more like the same sizes you'd see here in oz.2 points

At the press conference Craig mentioned that they had the ability to change aspects of the film if required to suit differen't situations, e.g Christmas message and added scenes or effects. So hopefully they have changes in mind for later down the track.1 point

If it’s done right the first time, like Soarin over California was, it won’t need to change for a very long time.1 point

"too confronting" for Asian tourists. The Japanese haunted houses make Draculas look too tame. granted not all Asian tourists have experienced Japanese haunted houses before. I think this is really pressure from families to make all the attractions "family friendly" so they want any form of attraction that has one unsettling thing in it to be removed and replaced with a "hip, phone/social media" centric style in the main tourist areas (Cavil Av, Surfers Blvd), I am probably wrong cause I don't have children but I think that families should have more common sense about where they take young children around these attraction areas, other people enjoy these attractions too1 point

Today has been the busiest I have seen the park since the events of last year and I’m happy to see the park is back on the road of success Queues for the rides have been pretty long with TOT2 going all the way down to the skull Hope the big crowds continue after the holidays finish1 point

Material has been added to the top of the cage to provide some shading for riders, the red metal fencing in front of the sign has been removed, and glass panelling has been added to the loading and unloading stations1 point

The idea of leveraging nostalgia, the steps to achieving it and even building an i-Ride and whacking it in the old cinema is an idea they've copied liberated right down to the word use. Not mad, just amusing. http://ourworlds.co/2017/news/whats-dreamworlds-next-move/1 point

The main issues I have with MDMC is the lack of comfort and how horrible the theming has become. Yes we can all agree it shouldn’t be classified as a Thrill Ride, and it’s quite slow and not the most exciting ride, and the Jet Rescue is so much better. But I think they should invest in replacing all the rides theming around the queue area because right now it’s very worn out and makes the whole area look really tacky. Investing in some new trains would be awesome too, so the ride is much more comfortable or more efficient to get into and out of. Because damn that plastic pushing against your knees and legs really hurts, especially towards the end of the ride.1 point

Actually I ageee that it's a really good suggestion in terms of restoring the park to a quality offering. The ride is outdated, lame and obtrusive, not to mention very expensive and aging.1 point

Whilst I like IP themed attractions, to put it simply a HTTYD themed flying ride would be a disjustice to the ride. This ride needs to not only appeal to all, it needs to have longevity. HTTYD is a fairly weak movie/tv series, and doesn’t hold a following outside of its target audience. This is one occasion where a generic Australiana theme is perfect for the attraction type.1 point

Today DWs carpark is 100% full, just driven through it to see how the crowds were, and I couldn’t see one single space. There was also still a queue to get into the park. Awesome to see, and probably one of the first times it’s been like this since the incident.1 point

I know the plans were different six months ago. You might have had a hand in it and unless DW says we will never know. Ardent finding out Brisbane was about to get a simulator might have forced DW to take out the competition by taking on the project. The good thing about the idea you had before it was announced is "it was a good one".0 points

So technically folks can now: Use the first back-rest as a seat and use the main steel frame holding the roof up to hold on Squat in front of the first back rest and use the two circular-shaped braces to prop themselves up Provided you're sitting behind the first back rest, you could push your head against the roof, put your knees against or on top of the back rest and use the main steel frame to hold on and brace If you're sitting behind the first back rest, you could simply squat stand and use the frame to brace yourself and maintain your squat stand If you're in the back, given the height of the circular steel braces, you could squat stand like the previous example If you're in the back, you could seat on the very rear back rest, and use the steel frame to brace yourself and hold on I genuinely hope i'm missing something and i'm 100% wrong.0 points

Ok well I've never been on Soarin so maybe it will be ok with the same experience over and over if it's good enough. After all, I'm happy to see the same show over and over at Australian Outback Spectacular, and that's not even a ride!0 points

The longer-term "rainbow" in all of this, is it now gives DW the chance to do anew pretty much the entire former Gold Rush area, hopefully with very well themed major new quality attractions. To be honest, it's a bit "make or break" for DW and how serious they are at present a quality product going forward. Now...let's just get rid of the Super Hornet AKA ToT that screams through the middle of the park, that awful "motocoaster" - or whatever it's called and bring the Vintage Cars back - get that whole area themed again!] And finally - not that they will - "can" the water park...or at least move it - not expecting it of course! Not sure who's themed that place in last 20yrs or so...but were they drunk?0 points
