I was also there last night, and thoughtit was significantly better than last year. The food options in my opinion were not up to the standards they were last year, but that was the only exception and they were still quite good. Roving entertainment, like last year, superb. One thing I hadn't seen last year but did this year was a magician going around the plaza doing tricks at different tables for people as they ate. It seemed to me more of the park was open than last year, including some of the animalexhibits, and most of the few remaining rides. The aquacolour show was the highlight without a doubt, and to me it was of similar quality to the Fire Machine show last year at Dreamworld, with the added benefit of water effects, and human performers. All in all, brilliant, and a vastly better experience than my daytime visits to the park in recent years. My only major criticism is it took me about 40 minutes to get out of the carpark. I would suggest traffic controllers for next year.1 point

Be nice if the aqua show was themed to Carnivale or the Sea though...1 point

According to this site, Wild Mouse has been heritage listed by the NSW Government along with Crystal Palace. http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/heritageapp/ViewHeritageItemDetails.aspx?ID=5055827 It is quite sad to think that your local coaster, not to mention the first coaster you have ever ridden, is the last one of its type left in the world. It makes me feel a lot more grateful that I have such a rare coaster on my doorstep. It makes LPS that much more of a special park despite its size - we have one of only a few rotor rides in the world, the only HUSS Ranger and Troika in Australia, and are home to the last operating 1930s funhouse and wooden wild mouse coaster. LPS management have said Wild Mouse isn't going anywhere anytime soon.1 point

Last night I got to go to my first ever Carnivale, and was very much looking forward to how the event works at SW and what it has to offer. I will start by saying that out of last years FN and WC, this was absolutely my favourite of the 3. The atmosphere, entertainment, food, music, it was all great. But the Aquacolour Spectacular was incredible, and I’d quite happily pay the entry fee just to see this again. I’ll go into more detail later, but first I’ll discuss the individual elements; Entry process: You can enter through either the main entry or the pass entry, but this wasn’t very clear and the metal fencing out the front (creating an extended queue area) was a mess and people were not even lining up here. We arrived around 5:45 and entered the park at 6:05. By the time we got to the ticket scanners, they weren’t scanning tickets anymore and were just taking them off us and not giving us wrist straps, so they could speed up the entry process. Entertainment: As soon as we entered there was already performers and this continued all the way up to the Plaza. With there being just the right amount so that they weren’t annoying or causing crowds to block the paths. Within the Plaza it was endless entertainment, photo opportunities, sound and smiles. The vibe in here for great and you couldn’t help but dance and join in on the fun. The attitude of all the entertainment and staff was great across the whole night. Even around some of the animal exhibits and rides there were performers. Food: People keep saying that there has become less and less variety at Carnivale over the years, and as I’ve never been to one before I’ve got nothing to compare it too. But I thought the variety and taste of the foods last night was amazing. I had the Pulled Pork Roll and the Po Boy, where were both really really nice. They had some good flavours and were filling, which made the price more justifiable. I spoke to some others who tried some of the other food varieties and none of them complained about any of it. This year there were 7 or 8 stalls selling food in the Plaza, along with all the other food outlets throughout the park, which were still popular. General: The variety of other things to do, such as the animal exhibits and rides were an added bonus of stuff to do throughout the night. You could literally spend the whole time in and around the Plaza and you’d be happy with the night. But being able to watch how the animals are at night was really cool, especially in Shark Bay. Seeing how the sharks behave was quite fascinating and really different from the day time. There were plenty of photo opportunities to in front of signs and the large floats throughout the park. All the rides were popular, especially Nickelodeon Land, which looks beautiful at night. We only went on the Storm Coaster (Which I hadn’t done for a couple of years now and noticed they had removed the seat belts and you were allowed loose items in your pockets). The queue was only about 25 minutes, and the loading and unloading was reasonably efficient. Aquacolour Spectacular: This was the main reason I really wanted to attend this years event, and it completely blew my expectations. The effects, colour, water, sound, fire; all of it was amazing and the reactions from the crowd really showed how amazed everyone was. Before it began, at about 8:15, the fire dancers were along the front of the crowds performing many of the stunts they were doing throughout the park, plus a few extra, and was really good pre-show entertainment. And then at 8:30 the show began. The build up was great, and once the water canons began, it went to a whole new level. And when the flyboard riders came out, it went to another new level of awesomeness. The laser effects and music that was synced with it all made it all a truly incredible show to watch. It went for about 15 minutes, but it certainly felt a lot longer. Before the show began the speaker for the night said the show has been 4 years in the making, and I can say, it was all worthwhile. Leaving: As expected leaving SW was a nightmare, and took us nearly an hour to just leave the carpark, due to its very poor design. But then took ages to travel down Seaworld Drive. My tips is to park as close to the front as possible, and when driving down Seaworld Drive, stick to the left lane and then drive into Surfers if you are wanting to get onto the GC Highway. Traffic controllers would have definitely helped with the whole situation, but there weren’t any to be seen. Overall: I loved the event, and this will definitely make me want to return again. Setting this new standard for the event with the Aquacolour Spectacular is great and for me makes the move to SW worthwhile. From what I read about last years event, this was a massive improvement. And can’t wait to see how it improves in the years to come. I’m giving last nights event an 8.5/101 point

Took this from my recent visit. If you haven't been able to check it out this gives you an idea of the size of it and Top Golf.1 point

The flat bottom and low displacement makes all flume rides unstable by design. This problem is taken care of with the depth of water and ensuring that the wheels on the boat bottom out long before a critical angle can be reached. The idea that the frame has anything to do with capsizing or preventing something like Thunder River Rapids needs to stop now because it's pretty dumb and ignores the basic design principles of flume rides.1 point

I don't think our parks have the demand to be open late. Disney parks in Orlando also have a abundance of nightly entertainment, shops, restaurants, shows and resorts adjacent to the parks. Which our parks lack. Yes Movie World have Outback Spectacular and later this year Top Golf. But I don't think that is enough. I'm not ruling it out completely in the future. I think it is a good idea. If Movie Worlds hotel and entertainment precinct ever gets developed this may have a chance of working. (Just my opinions)1 point

I came across my news feeds this morning that Blackpools Wooden Mad Mouse has been demolished. RCDB confirms the coaster closed in 2017. For those who didn’t know, this Mouse was similar in design to the Aussie World and Luna Park Sydney Mouse coasters, infact those 3 were the only remaining wooden mouse coasters left in the world. With it now gone, and the Aussie World Mouse also gone, that leaves the Luna Park mouse as the last remaining wooden Mad mouse style coaster left in the world. It does make me wonder how much the LPS mouse has got left in her though.0 points
