  1. I don't think a lot of things are really suited to the flying theatre ride system though. For things like a motion pod simulator or motion seats yes, but as I understand it for flying theatres its not about sudden movements like being dumped by a wave, nor is it convincing to squeeze a large theatre through a hole in the green room or the HWSW loop or strapped into a tailspin seat (Because fundamentally you'd have 60 people staring at the inside of a Tailspin OTSR that is like 10m high on screen. The technique is footage with the horizon fairly level. For me, its really back to basics to make this a success...Go over the 12 Apostles, over the Sydney harbour bridge, over Katherine gorge, over the Barossa vineyards, over the Nulabor ribbon of highway with trucks tooting. along the Gold Coast beaches, and yes conclude with a flight over DW. Anything else is tacky. It's fly over Australia, not pinball machine through the DW rides.

  2. Not only are they considering how to make this attraction better, but they're also being transparent in the process and communicating that to their fan-base. Good on you, Dreamworld.

  4. 5th SEASON. not year. that ride hasn't done 5 years service like a gold coast ride has. Hell - Superman has been going for 13 years and you wouldn't catch most people calling it rough... As far as I'm concerned, for a park that shuts down for such a big chunk of the year, maintenance ought to be top notch, as there's plenty of time to deal with refurb and upkeep. Eh, being the only good coaster in the most isolated city in the world makes me think the "smoothness" of that ride is probably over-analysed and over scrutinised. It's a Gerstlauer Eurofighter, not a B&M hypercoaster - it is what it is. It has abnormally tight, crazy elements and transitions in disgustingly hot weather that's so hot that for most of the year it would come close to the edge of Gerstlauer's operating temp limits. With that in mind, it runs pretty damn well in my mind, but then again, I wasn't overly sensitive or fussed about DC Rival's "vibrationgate" either.

  5. Not exactly related to mi4 but hey I’ll put it in here and keep general AW chat in here like for Goliath’s thread. Today was a great day at the park with @Tim Dasco with a decent amount of crowds for what was a very hot day for the first half of the day and than which became very overcast. Great to see that the dragons kingdom characters are out and about every morning on weekends taking photos with people and that the photography team are always around the park taking photos of people around the park and especially on Goliath as it doesn’t have a photography system as it’s a pendulum ride. Staff were full of enthusiasm as always braving the heat throughout the day and also entertaining the crouds filling the park. Big shoutout to Boden and Pamela for always interacting with guests and being kind to everyone. The AW staff team will be loosing one of their kindest and most interactive team members today, Pam who will be leaving the team due to personal reasons. Also a big shoutout to Shannon in the fairy floss cart for serving tens of families when the park had closed all by herself trying to ensure everyone could leave the park by 5:30pm. Overall an AWesome day and couldn’t really be fucked reviewing my overall experience today because well, it’s the same thing I would write all the time anyways. (If you want my real reviews, hit up the AW 2017 - Goliath thread) (P.S. Hey AW staff team! :))

  7. I think shortening the season is the wrong move. You might do your ass a few weekends but you also want to be able to capitalise on those unseasonably hot days you get each year. It's also training people that WnW is an option on a hot day - when it's hot on the GC people know they can just get in the car and go to WnW. I think the bigger issue they have is a combination of ticketing and customer service/policies. WnWS has a problem where they somehow manage to be both over crowded, and losing money. For my taste I think an increase in the annual pass price to around $150, and a reduction in one day tickets to around $50 would address the over crowding from pass holders and also encourage full paying day trips. Customer service wise I think there's so much low hanging fruit at WnWS. If it were me I'd install BBQs and allow people to bring food to cook up. Forgot to bring food to BBQ? We'll do you a family meat tray with somepaper plates and tongs for $40. Combine that with getting rid of Fast Track in all it's forms and committing to running all the slides at full capacity. Do all that and in 2 seasons the results would be much different.

  8. @Locke I've been over all 300+ objections and not one is almost identical. The get out of my town campaign has done a very good job. Jabree Ltd who work for the traditional owners of the land have had to submit a letter to Town Planing to tell them that the project has not received compliance with the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003. For DW it was seven years in the making for Corroboree. Corroboree was created in consultation with indigenous language groups and people from throughout Australia and the Torres Strait Islands who shared their intimate knowledge of native culture, storytelling, artwork and relationship with the surrounding environment. DW worked with the Indigenous community ( Yugambeh people who are the traditional owners) and DW didn't do anything that wasn't approved by them. Uluru was always a pie in the sky. All the signs are there that this company doesn't know what it's doing. What percentage now remains a theme park and what percentage is now residential? Rejuvenation of existing wetland areas, which the company says say will mitigate the risk of exacerbated flood levels only deals with the water on the mentioned site. What about the water that overflows of the site and floods on the other side of Nerang-Broadbeach Rd. Where does that water go? Why did you remove the picture?
