  1. ...and over a series of three [merged] posts, Movie World visit December 10, 2005. Entry: Final touches on Superman Escape, yet to open. No Batwing, no Green Lantern. Construction fencing up. Hard to see, but Arkham Tower just a building facade, not a 'spire'. Lethal Weapon: One of LW's trains, as at 2005. Main Street: From outside WB shop. Miss those topiarys. Matrix Exhibit: Matrix Exhibit, where bumper cars/arcade stands today. Wild West Falls: Very different WWF boats paint job than they have today. Part Two: Matrix Action Show: Story is the cops corner Trinity, who fights them, until three Agents arrive, and capture her. Neo arrives, and there's a fight until Neo had an Agent, but 'Smith' has Trinity. The fight continues, and Neo helps Trinity escape, but stays to fight Smith. Neo obviously wins. Part Three: Grand Parade: These were just some of the floats/stars. There was Warner Brothers animation characters as well. Main Street: This view is great as you look at photos over the years. Today you can see: Superman Escape, Batwing and DC Rivals. Unsure if GL too, off the top of my head. End of the day, Superman escape did a few test cycles.

  3. Interesting to see ALI BABA, CHAOS & SCORPION operating at the park, I never knew that happened.... all three rides are operating, although I think Chaos lives up in the NT now. Ali baba is in horrible condition, and Scorpion can be found here and there, especially down at Rye every summer with Wittingslow. thanks for the photos!

  4. Just thought i'd add a little snippet of what's to come, if you can't picture it yet I can almost guarantee it'll be like this: This is a construction picture of Flyover Canada from Syncra Construction , an almost identical project where an IMAX theatre of a similar size was converted into a 60+ seater i-ride. If you're curious as to how that happened, InPark Magazine interviewed Rick Rothschild (who worked on Soarin' & Flyover Canada) and had this to say: I did some research about both auditorium sizes prior to their respective conversions and updates, and there's a marginal difference of approx. 50 seats or 3m of screen height between the two, with the IMAX theatre in Canada being the slightly larger one. TLDR, i'd be surprised if they don't go for the 60+ seater version, especially when it's already been done.

  5. That would have definitely been it! Found a couple more oldies from 99 - 01. Closer Look at the Shark Some peacocks with their chicks. ToT Skull Now memory is vague, but I remember around 2001 they added a bunch of what seemed like carnival rides? I had forgotten about it until I seen these, I think they were near tiger island.. Same place they would use to bring in the motorbike dome of death. June - 2001 had the Mummy walk through - First year of big brother! - Old Vintage Cars Station - Something Different - Thats all from 2001

  6. This. For all those who were crapping on about the increase in prices being a bad idea - this. Look, i'm firmly in the Apple camp as far as phones go - which makes Dreamworld either Android or Nokia\Windows phone... i'm leaning towards Windows phone. This is also part of the answer to the 'why topgolf' thread. Sure, not a theme park, but its all so very in the same vein. They say mid-june but I really hope they chop and change the date within that month just to screw with all these groups that are already announcing launch day meetups and such... Good on you guys for calling them out on a shitty excuse. Shortening the season is probably a smart move given the current loss-making results - but you can always market things differently to encourage attendance in off peak times too. Not spending money on it is a solution that will polarise. But if you consider that just down the road, Wonderland only ran 'the beach' through the warmer months of the year too, it makes sense that getting 'the season' right is important to their profitability. On the other hand, my thoughts for WnWS are this - as a standalone waterpark in an area that isn't hot for most of the year, there is going to be the low periods - we have however seen water park style attractions work in cooler climates as well - so it's not a single solution. What they could do though - is double down. Look to build a dry park within close proximity so that each anchors the other. Shared resources will reduce costs as you can make use of both facilities to support the other's activities (ie - a precinct area - where the professional kitchens in one attraction might support the food service activities in another attraction, for example...) Nothing says they need a fully fledged movie world built on day one - but a start, with an anchor E-ticket attraction or two at the cheaper end, a few flats and some filler, with plenty of room to expand... perhaps with lessons identified, their second Sydney attempt could be even better - and it is something Sydney is screaming for.
