  1. I wish MW would move away from IPs and focus on doing more generic attractions - by not spending money on the license, they could spend more on the actual mazes \ actors and really make them pop.

  2. I've created this for total clarity. A) Food (mainly fish & chips) and merch building for Blue Lagoon with a large shaded eating area. B ) Not too sure off the top of my head, believe it was just a storage building which had some lockers built into it along with the Food & Merch building. Had the Dreamworld logo on one side as you would see it clearly in shot during housemate evictions. C) Where the kiddie pool was. D) Toilet block for Blue Lagoon E) Entry way for housemate evictions plus plenty of production facilities throughout the building F) Temporary space that would house production facilities. G) Service building that would sell merch etc. H) Dreamworld Amphitheatre & entry way for non-Dreamworld related productions. I) Train Shed J) Blue Lagoon's main mountain. The two fibreglass slides (Aqualoop Flume & The Toboggan) have been removed, leaving only the concrete tube slide. K) Entry split for Dreamworld Amphitheatre and Blue Lagoon. L) Splashdown for The Toboggan. M) Where the main pool and splashdowns for The Aqualoop Flume and Krakatoa's Revenge (the concrete slide) used to be. The reason why the main pool was filled in and The Toboggan's splashdown pool wasn't was because management at the time believed they could use it as a fully wicked sick event space. On a few occasions it was used to house seasonal walkthrough attractions and the like. I could be wrong, but I believe the same building that Evilution is housed in was the same one that was placed over Blue Lagoon's main pool at one point. I believe that answers most of the questions from @themeparkaddict - as for the other buildings near Tiger Island, they're all for maintenance etc. I'm sure the engineeer/projects/fitters at the park keep an eye on that space to keep the buildings standing up, however at one point it was looking pretty average so they've since placed a huge wall up a long the train line so guests can no longer see in.

  3. Media? Try the organisers scaring everybody away and pissing the locals off. The Commonwealth Games did an awful job of making the locals feel included in the games.

  4. I remember when they used to be what looked like ply. Amazons used to have one too.

  5. I tried dozens of times to crack that net but failed. Admittedly I was probably only 13 at the time, maybe needed a bit more weight.

  6. You weren’t riding it right unless you made the catch net.

  7. Sorry, for the purposes of media I was also including advertising.

  8. This building is the Dreamworld Studios, and was used for the crowd during the LIVE shows (eliminations, etc). Large black curtains were hung at the back. The housemates would get a golf buggy ride to this when eliminated. And yes it was quite a walk for guests when the house opened to the public, and you would get to walk through the Blue Lagoon area. You can see parts of the walk to the BB House in this Parkz Update in 2012: https://www.parkz.com.au/update/2012/12/21/308-Dreamworld_December_2012.html

  9. When you've got hotels charging upwards of $1k a night, constant media about how travel around the entire area is going to be very painful and very expensive flights I think it's little wonder. What's there to compel even a domestic tourist to go?

  10. Many business owners complaining over the weekend about how dead it was. Its quite laughable. I remember being in Sydney during the 2000 Olympics - and everywhere you went there was some sort of event or community activity going on. I worked for Penrith Council at the time, and they turned their Council chambers into a theatrette, showing the games on a big screen and promotional videos they had put together to market the business potential of the city. they also had free internet kiosks (which back then was huge - mobile data was virtually non existent then), and many tourists, and even athletes wanting to come in and check their emails! I get that comms games isn't the same party as Olympics are... but even so, for all the hype, its rather disappointing.

  11. You're absolutely right. One that really grates me is Mick Doohan in the bush setting and not up the end in the Ocean Parade area. Breaks my heart too that the whole Australian bush theme was destroyed with the vintage cars moving, the paddle wheeler closing and the unique bushranger show gone. Hate that ABC / Wiggles is squished into where it is too. All that should be in the larger kids area in Madagascar. On that, Pandamonium is out of place there. It should be up in Ocean Parade too. The massive waterfall off the Wipeout Wave was awesome but didn't last long after opening. And the list goes on! Dreamworld used to have tightly themed areas, and space between those themed areas, adding a sense of leaving one / arriving at a distinctive place. Now's it just one big shopping mall where every spare space had a kiosk added. If Dreamworld were a Westfield, we've got a butcher next to a clothes shop and dentist next to a fruit shop. The really sad part is that there is just no practical way to ever fix these poor decisions and lack of planning and vision #fml Ps I also hate that ToT runs through the park, killing the vibe and tranquility of Every. Other. Area. Pss Hated Buzzsaw being added to Goldrush... never felt right. I guess they wanted something to advertise to the carpark and highway but by doing so they disrespected the park further. Buzzsaw should have had a different theme and been up in Ocean Parade too. The old Thunderbolt area could have been nicely filled and themed.
