Remainder of the facade towards Gold Rush is now gone, as is the old Boost Juice outlet.6 points

Since Sea Jellys is now open Creatures of the Deep had to close. Sea World can't have to many attractions open. 😆5 points

Cheers @Brad2912 for the shots, in the interest of discussion i've just done a dodgy-ass photoshop - here's a few take-aways: The artist rendering is super deceptive to look as aesthetically pleasing as possible (forced perspective etc.) so take it all with a grain of salt A section of queue line is outside There's a massive mezzanine foyer inside? It seems based off my colour-coded blocks that the wavy tarp roof will continue past Green Bean? Because of the forced perspective it's too hard to tell if the shops on the left will replace 1:1 the shops there before, will continue past the Gold Rush sign (look at the where the existing building cladding ends) or will jot out more. I just want to add, this building is not theming, lol. My take is it'll be a nice enough looking facade but I reckon it might be jarring in Main Street wedged up against the other facades. By comparison, DisneySea's new Soarin' attraction is being built in the Mediterranean Harbour and as such is getting a full old stone-building design to fit in.4 points

I visited the attraction this morning, and while some changes were made from the original design, i think it’s a great addition to the park, makes great usage of the building, and is internally presented well. The exterior isn’t the best, with them trying to blend it into the old ice cream store.3 points

The one thing I don’t get them pushing so hard is the Griffith uni’s partnership with the exhibit. I mean firstly, who cares except the uni students who get to show off inside the exhibit, and secondly, am I the only one reading it as a “we got Griffith to pay for half, because we are just that cheap”?3 points

My favourite take off from this interview is that it really seems like Clark is saying without saying that he thinks the park got it wrong in making it all about rides and DC. It might be all talk, time will tell, but at least the talk is about getting the sorts of things I think we all want to see into the park. My second favourite thing was the two staff in the background the whole time clearly disinterested and I'm pretty sure one even scratched his balls at one point 😂😂3 points

They’ve decided to fence off this side of the hill/rock opposite Big Red Boat, though not the other side (go figure). And added some “tiger eyes” to the tunnel between ABC Kids World and Tiger Island #sparednoexpense2 points

Really I think it’s about saving face. By having the partnership and really pushing it helps to prevent any cries of “Sea World are exploiting Jelly Fish in disco tubes”. And if it achieves that then great. Anything to shut up the idiots. And I don’t mind having an educational part upstairs. I kind of feel Clark was right in that PCL interview in bringing all the BOH good the park does to the front. That’s only going to help curb the Sea World is evil talk.2 points

Dealing with the bolded statement first - what absolute dribble. Life exists outside of social media posts mate, and 99% of stuff that IS on instagram is rubbish so there goes that theory. As for “if you want to see props - go to LA”. The average joe, let alone an average family, can’t afford to just “pop over to the US for the weekend”. I think a memorabilia museum would prove very popular, and is a terrific inclusion, especially if it’s included props utilised on the studios for shoots. (You do know there are working sound stages next to movie world, right?) Sea Jellies is world leading In that it’s not just an exhibition, it’s an actual research facility that is staffed by Griffith Uni2 points

Just a quick update on Luna Park Melbourne- They will be getting 2 new permanent kids rides in the form of a spinning coaster and a kids Ferris Wheel. The make and model of the coaster has not been confirmed but it has been stated as being geared towards younger guests so i would assume that it could possibly be a SBS Visa model such as the Crazy Coaster at Adventure park in Geelong These rides will be installed over the coming months and i expect them to be in the ride lineup for the January school holidays. There is no mention that these new rides would be replacing anything currently in the park, although given the size of LPM and the fact that it has limited room, I would not be surprised if these rides DID replace existing attractions. The Zamperla powered coaster Silly Serpent that is currently in the park is of a fair age now and it would not be unreasonable to see this new kids coaster replace the Silly Serpent. The park has stated that the space on the old Metropolis site will be retained for seasonal and temporary attractions. They have replaced their trackless train with a new model that boasts increased carriages.over the previous version. A new coaster for the old Metropolis site is very much on the top of their wish list but it is not on the horizon for the next couple of years. The reason for this is the expense and upkeep of their heritage attractions such as Scenic Railway, Carousel and Ghost Train. To keep these attractions running and in good condition requires a large budget and this eats into new attraction investment. ( Plus Lyndsey Fox is being stingy..) The 105 year old PTC Carousel has just completed a very delicate and expensive 12 month refit and is now open again to the public. They will still continue to use the Metropolis site for seasonal and holiday attractions such as the Pirates revenge flume and Crazy Spinning Coaster that they have utilised over the past couple of years. This mirrors their sister park , Luna Park Sydney and their schedule of rotating seasonal/holiday attractions. They have in that space for October the Famous Spiegeltent live attraction which will be in the park for a 3 week stay. I am in Melbourne in January for a couple of weeks and will be visiting Luna park Melbourne, FunFields and Adventure Park with the family, the latter 2 for the first time. I will certainly upload some trip reports and pictures from these parks as they get little attention on these boards compared to their giant Gold Coast cousins. Cheers.1 point

Is there any reasoning for this? These character fights, depsite being a corny, were good entertainment1 point

Disappointing. I thought the actions shows were by far the best ones.1 point

Only reason I can think of that is somewhat logical is they are willing to wear the cost of all the “stolen” drinks when the park is buzzing and they are making a mint from in-park spend, but not so much when it’s quiet.1 point

Haha! I'm glad to see that this has been brought back to life! I completely forgot about Parkz! Anyways, my Annual Pass to the park expired in July, so I won't be going back to the park for a while. Anyways, I will try to get to the park before it's too late to sign the petition (September 30th). I am sad that they built the Hair Raiser without permission, and that links to the position the park is in now, but we are witnessing history repeat itself. Here is my proof: Spires being taken down (Yes, it was to get rid of the rust, but it looked like the 1980s for that 10-month period (I couldn't find a good image of the 1980s) Ride noise complaints *cough cough* Big Dipper II, the old arrow that is now at Dreamworld *cough cough* Government on both sides LP Management not knowing what to do1 point

I think when you say “not the best” in reference to the exterior the actual meaning is ‘bloody awful!’ Like come on, just boarding up and flag painting existing structures for what is meant to be a permanent attraction is not really acceptable.1 point

I did notice this on my visit today... they are asking for feedback on the show as you leave. There is a slot for an iPad, so either they remove them after the crowd has gone, or they’ve given up on this idea1 point

Part of the reason I think WNW Gold Coast has been neglected (especially in regards to new attractions) is because it still performs great and has no real compition from WWW. With the departure of WNW Buggy I would love to see that plot finally built upon.1 point

There’s no problem about bottomless soft drinks. Part of being a responsible parent is being able to moderate the crap your kids invest against the exercise they have. And learning to actually use that so forbidden of words: “NO”1 point

Don’t care how many fences etc there are, the fact it’s possible for you as a guess to see any of that Shit around the place is a bloody disgrace.1 point

That shed is BEGGING for a Sally Ride. Said it before. Voyage to Iron Reef would actually perfectly fit here (and yes I know that's not Sally).1 point

Disney has the best loose articles policy in the world... NONE. You can take anything and everything on every ride with you. You will be shocked at what Disney does in terms of ride capacity and operations compared to EVERY (yes including Universal just up the road) other theme park in the world. Simply watching the dispatch operations at Space Mountain is an attraction in itself.1 point

Anyone ever told you that you whinge a lot @RossL ? you must be fun at parties...1 point

I've advocated for a memorabilia museum for a while now, it's something cheap that many people would have some interest in (and even if you're not interested you'd still probably have a look) and gives the park a bit of credibility. It's strange to me that the park is 'Movie World' with the studios right next door but there are no references to the studios in the park. An attraction that literally everyone can do is also badly needed at MW so massive thumbs up from me. A studio tour in the long term would be cool now that the studios actually have an interesting history but for now pleased with that move. As for SW, what can you say that hasn't already been said? I guess one potentially new observation is Ray Reef, Paw Patrol and the new undercover Plaza for events are all attractions that you would add to SW if you were focused on the resort first and the park second. Ray Reef is the sort of thing that belongs at a resort really, Paw Patrol (license aside) is not something a decent theme park would highlight as if it's a motivator, and the Plaza, despite being a huge improvement is an events space. Don't get me wrong either, the resort is fantastic right now and the leadership there has done a great job, but SW really needs someone who cares about the park as a theme park, not as the resort's really elaborate Kids Club. Also do they still own WnW GC? Can someone check that and let them know if they do because it seems to be looking pretty forgotten about.1 point

Really like the sound of movie magic being brought back at Movie World. That's what the park was primarily about when I first visited, and now it's become all about rides. The rides are great, but without the movie magic, it's not really Movie World. Very glad to hear it apparently will be again!1 point
