  1. It happens a lot more than you think, and you're a fool if you think it'll never happen to you. You've got to decide if it's worth the hassle when your stuff is stolen. If you decide that spending $10 for a locker per visit is less preferable to being without your stuff for however long it takes to be replaced and lodge insurance claims then so be it. Seriously life your life the way you want to live it. Just don't be shocked when it happens. As to the original point; I went with a group of 4 of us and we shared a locker. Per cap wise we spent $2.50 each on a locker. And a final point, every 2 bit council has a 'Water Park' these days. WnW and WWW can't just be water slide parks anymore, they have to be water theme parks. That'll take effort that so far no one has been willing to put in.

  2. It's nice to know there are people out there who still have that level of trust. I have many happy memories of my childhood when my parents only locked the house at night or if everyone was out. There was no alarm and no cameras. This was in a typical suburban street in a large city. Not only that, but most people in the street knew each other quite well, and there was a kind of unwritten rule within the street that everyone was welcome in each others home anytime (during the day if people were home). No need to even knock in most cases. These things were good, and it's very sad how things have degenerated to the point where now it's rare to even know what any of the neighbours look like. However, that's the modern world. In my job I see theft and fraud all the time, so it's onlyto be expected that I take precautions to prevent it!

  4. I also like to play a game called 'nappy roulette'. Do you want to go digging through a couple of "apparently used" nappies in the nappy bag, in the hope that one contains a wallet, and not a god awful stench? Sometimes the gun has a bullet, sometimes it doesn't - you wanna risk it? As for the trust factor, it is possible i suppose for thieves to watch a group leave their belongings and head out of sight. The catch is whether anyone comes back. I can instantly spot where my stuff is from across the other side of the pool, so as soon as it comes into view, I can tell if anyone is near it. You'd need eyes in the back of your head to make sure i wasn't coming - and there aren't many exits from a theme park if you get caught. If theft of personal belongings was a REAL big issue in the waterparks, don't you think we'd see heaps more signs from the park 'do not leave valuables unattended in every damn direction to try and appease those who would hold them liable? I'm sure the odd pickpocket does the rounds, but you have to be a bit stupid to try it in a waterpark as a general rule.

  6. If I wanted to climb a coaster I’d just do the star tour. The non-coaster-climb portion of the tour is definitely worth a lot more than the couple of hundred dollar difference. Sure, Arkham isn’t quite as tall or cool as DCR, but the DCR climb is definitely not a $100 experience.

  7. Tower along with all the other coasters are Dreamworld have queues due to their stupidly low capacity. Building a low capacity ride and getting long queues doesn't mean it is popular it just means it is horrible at handling crowds.

  9. People have literally been passing out in queue lines and ride buildings, yet theres been no action on summer proofing them. Lucky if you have a working fan or something to hide from direct sunlight, so i cant see an indoor, sealed/air conditioned kids area being high on the list of stuff likely to happen. The kids area should stay for kids. Its targeted at young kids though, so maybe it needs an update to new rides for that same demographic, say, maybe up to 8 years old max. Then maybe add a couple other rides somewhere else in the park for older kids and tweeners who arent ready for coasters and thrill rides? Everyone saying cut and paste from a zamperla catalogue, thats pretty much what was done, just 20 years ago. The area was/is filled with zamperla rides. It always seemed weird to me that you have all these rides named after characters, most of which you never see. If they were looking for more, how about the statues you have in this part of the park make a real appearance too.

  10. Yeah, it was only a wish.. Another thing that could be done is remove the picnic area at Maloney's Coner. I doubt that will happen though, since there are many charity venues there. Anyway, there is still the Chrystal Palace. Woah! The things they can do in just 2 months is amazing!

  12. I've been watching the refurbishments at Luna for the past few years. I love the level of detail they're going to with their work. Very well considered and are developing their own unique style and keeping it all spot on brand. In a time where many parks are losing focus on their identity and franticly following brief trends and creating patchwork themes, Luna is probably the shining light from what i've seen.

  16. Perhaps this is testing the waters to see whether it has a positive guest impact, and perhaps, if positive feedback is received, they might see to invest in not only a better version of this show, but also in other entertainment offerings of a similar nature. there* is. but their isn't.

  17. Actually, there's this thing about China where they really don't care about international copyright law. This doesn't cover it exactly, but was literally the first thing on google for those who aren't lazy... https://www.chinalawblog.com/2017/02/china-copyrights-and-fair-use.html The thing is, while they have laws about infringing on copyright and trademark, its not really the highest priority of the communist chinese government to assist foreign, capitalist organisations from prosecuting the chinese citizens. I'm sure Disney thought about and quickly rejected going after the knock off due to the sheet futility of the process. Of course, with parks in Hong Kong SAR and Shanghai, The dragon may be opening up to Disney, and may very well be a little more amenable to IP protection of a 'close partner'.

  20. See Skeet had the idea that MW DC direction focused on the wrong age demographics. Teen Titans might have been a cool to bring the DC theme into the park and the main DC theme should have only been in one themed area. MW do have an issue of it not big enough to justify having 20 different license deals going at once, but I would hope MW are smart enough to create some generic movie themed areas that don’t require doing a license deal. MW already have a well themed Wild West area crying for some loving which that could easily add a ride to that wouldn’t require paying a 2nd party. MW could have another themed area paying tribute to horror flick and by FrightNight success people would embrace it. Back to Kids If MW are set on keeping “Bugs no friends” than MW should take a leaf out of DW book (did I just say that) and have 2 kids areas. One for 1 to 5 and one for 6 to 10.

  21. Why do you continue to not listen to me.😝 Looney Tunes is dead. Since 2013 WB has a group dedicated to theatrical animated films so I am hopeful the pickings will get stronger for MW. They are making movies like Dr. Seuss The Cat in the Hat. The Lego Movie. The Ice Dragon. ToTo The Wonderful Wizard of OZ. Time for a Disney reference. You don’t go to Disney and only see 40-year-old characters you see a blend of old and new. MW have old, old & more old that kids don’t relate to it. You say Looney Tunes show I say Lego Show.

  22. What they should do is tranform the right hand side of the river ride building is into a show stage, and have a looney tunes show there. I can’t see them installing another ride in there (unfortunately). Right now we don’t have a full looney tunes show at the park, and for years there was always one. Putting it anywhere else is just out of place, especially now since the villains area has been added

  23. Marvin was similar to a 'la bamba' travelling carnival ride, but smaller, for kids. The difference being the la bamba you face forward, whereas i'm pretty sure Marvin's rocket faced riders to one side. For those who aren't apple fan boys, replace CMD with CTRL. Despite @Roachie's tongue in cheek response, Yes, JDS always has a decent queue, but I fear that is predominantly because the WB Kids area is the only area of the park for kids under a certain height, and many of those kids are older, and don't want to ride tweety cages or tijuana taxis, so JDS is really their only option. Despite it's apparent popularity with families, at the end of the day, its sub par in the grand scheme of things, and the space could be much better utilised. Although i'd love to see an indoor kiddie land that is full of a bunch of zamperla flats or similar, the catch with that is for the same footprint, you immediately multiply your staff requirement by a significant number. Personally i'd like to see them move some of their existing attractions inside, and redevelop the outdoor area into a more 'family' friendly (think a family coaster that runs around the whole area) environment. Put in a couple 'fun house' attractions where you can walk through Bugs' house, and get the kid's stage back up and running - where it belongs. The top one is definitely maintenance, I think the other one is too. THe third as pointed out is the 'showstage' which has hosted western stunt shows, magic shows, TV gameshows, and more recently, WB Kids related shows and fright nights mazes.

  24. As has been said, big top won't go anywhere. As both an event space, and a licensed venue, I daresay provided it receives regular usage, it would make more money in a night (for less cost) than a typical weekend of rides. I used to work for a company that had the in-house contract for AV in that space, and the value of JUST the AV component of the events they hosted there told me everything I need to know about how important that space is to the park.

  25. I still believe it is because waterslides are becoming cheaper and thus opening at more locations. The audience for individual water parks are thus becoming more local and smaller particularly for Wet 'n' Wild Gold Coast, who is used to lots of out-of-town visitation. But, similar to what @Skeeta said above, if your whole audience for water parks are now local, reliance on season passes (particular a multi-park season pass) is not good. Multi-park annual passes doesn't guarantee visitation at Wet 'n' Wild and for any type of annual pass at the current prices, whatever the level of actual visitation is at the park, the park is really relying on food and beverage & upcharges for revenue. If your audience is only locals and they all have annual passes, if they don't spend on food and beverage & upcharges, that's a lot of lost revenue. Wet 'n' Wild Sydney's decline was due to a similar situation even though poor park design was also a role in why it declined. Whilst Wet 'n' Wild Gold Coast's decline may seem to be linked to the decline of the Sydney park (which is heaps worse), it probably is due to mismanagement of both parks rather than just Sydney. That is, the overselling of season passes at both parks. Wet 'n' Wild Sydney has a new owner so they may stop the reliance on season passes there but Wet 'n' Wild Gold Coast still has the same owner - could they do the same? Remember Whitewater World's proposed lazy river is completely different to Calypso Beach. It includes a wave machine. Jamberoo's Rapid River is Australia's only themed lazy river with a wave machine and I can say it makes a whirl of difference. I'd ride Rapid River instead of Calypso Beach any day. For starters, it actually makes it a ride rather than just a relaxing form of transportation. The first half of Rapid River is a typical lazy river - slow and meandering. You travel past some fountains shooting over you, you go under a bridge and then travel over some bubblers. You then travel past a gentle but long waterfall & you enter a cave, where the 2nd half of the ride begins. A hole in the centre of the cave's roof has a waterfall dropping from one side into the centre of the River. The cave is covered in Aboriginal art works. A wave machine generates 1.5m high waves that push you back to the exit, which is about 100 metres away - the waves only last about half that distance though. 60 metres after the wave machine, you then travel under Surf Hill, which has it's own waterfalls falling from under the ride, to another bridge. From the cave to this bridge, short but heavy waterfalls fall down an artificial cliff on the northern side. After the bridge, you arrive back at the start. Unlike Calypso Beach which has 3 entrance/exit points, Rapid River has only 1. I might be wrong but originally Rapid River was built as a 'hop on/off as you please'-type ride (like Calypso Beach) but it turned out to be so popular, that the entrance/exit was divided so there is now an official queue line and lifeguards now have instructions that they have to tell you to hop off after 1 circuit. You cannot do laps (unless, of course, the ride's queue is short enough to justify allowing laps). Once you finish 1 circuit, you must hop off and re-join the queue (unless the current of the water forces you past the exit then you get a lucky extra ride). The queue easily gets long but doesn't extend far from the start of the 'official' queue line. Imagine how long the queue would get if the lifeguards didn't have to ask people to get off after 1 circuit! If Ardent put in a decent effort with this lazy river, it would provide some serious unexpected competition for Wet 'n' Wild Gold Coast. But knowing Ardent, they would most likely do what Village Roadshow did with Wet 'n' Wild Sydney - Boomerang Bay (a generic lazy river now called Dinosaur Lagoon as they added dinosaur statues around the ride a couple of years ago) - and that will not do much (even with just adding a wave machine) in re-generating some competition between the 2 Gold Coast parks. You might as well go back to Cave Of Waves (unless you really need to relax). It depends on what the newer attraction is though. If it doesn't appeal to you, then there is still every possibility you would visit the other park with older attractions.

  30. Here's some clues on what I think needs to happen to the kid’s area. Before I get hate mail a good portion of the kids will be removed before we blow it up. The area is so old parents are taking their kids on rides they rode when they were kids. Problem is things that were cool 27 years ago now remind you of grandma’s house.
