So because the ride doesn’t suit your child, it’s irrelevant in the grand scheme of things as a DW asset? Sky Voyager* will be an attraction 95% of people will be capable of riding, and if they have executed it as promised, it will be well received by the majority of the market. DCR is the best ride on the coast by far, but it’s market demographic is much smaller than that of Sky Voyager*. Both groups of parks have faults, and no one is doubting DW is well behind in the game, but Sky Voyager* is the best type of attraction for them right now - large target demographic, unique to the park, easy to market, no perceived risk factors. *yeah I had skyrider there first...3 points

This is 12 days ago. Whilst I'm still not 100% convinced that Dreamworld's future lazy river is going to go past wildlife exhibits, I have since been convinced that Whitewater World is going to have wildlife exhibits added. However, if the former is actually going to happen, it seems Jamberoo's local wildlife heard about it 😜 and thought they would demonstrate the risk of having wildlife near a water ride (like if the enclosure fails and the wildlife somehow ends up in the water). They went to The Rock first: But Jamberoo wasn't having any of it: Hope Dreamworld sees this. This 'demonstration' by the snake shows: Alert staff are needed (According to social media comments, Jamberoo's staff were very alert) Ride's popularity immediately drops Ride is immediately closed Wildlife catchers called Wildlife subsequently appears on social media Wildlife subsequently appears in local media (or if it happened on the Gold Coast, possible state/national media) Judging by social media comments, snakes regularly appear around Jamberoo Action Park so that probably explains the alertness of their staff.2 points

Dreamworld doesn’t need positive word of mouth? I would have thought that’s exactly what it needs right now.2 points

People vote with their wallets. The point of looking at numbers is that they tell us what the general public is thinking. Dreamworld hasn't been a core business for Ardent for a long time. It remains in their portfolio because it's a lot harder to sell than a chain of bowling alleys or gyms and up until recently has been a reliable source of income. Praising them simply for reinvestment is like praising your local supermarket for having stocked shelves. It's integral to the business model, so to me the interesting discussion is more about whether they're investing smartly. I'd agree with some of these points -- unique and large target market in particular. I'd disagree that it's easy to market; it's an almost impossible concept to sell to the public and you'll see even Disney struggle with making them look good. These rides when done well are great for word of mouth, and there's no shortage of arguments for why that's not what Dreamworld needs right now.2 points

Having now seen "Heartland" twice, the second viewing has confirmed my initial thoughts on the new show. I get what the story is meant to be, but only from reading the descriptions online. Unlike the previous shows, it's not very clearly portrayed in the actual show. The projection mapping is superb as I've said previously, but it's only a visual effect which should enhance an already good show. Unfortunately as I said above, the show needs a fair bit of work. On both the two times I've been so far there's been either no pre-show entertainment, or if there was I found it impossible to engage with as all I could hear even before I entered the building was "BANG. BANG. BANG!" (loud thumping noises). That's in contrast to the family friendly country music, including singing, dancing, jokes and some audience participation in previous shows. New menu ok, but personally I don't like it as much as the previous one. Unfortunately the show still ends with "I still call Australia home", which I had hoped might have been replaced by now with something new. Overall, the price has gone up but the quality of the overall experience has gone down somewhat. I did still enjoy it. Just not as much as before!1 point

'Actions speak louder than words': Dreamworld is still a decaying, unreliable theme park Dreamworld CEO told Sunrise viewers this morning that actions speak louder than words as Dreamworld once again promises the same commitment to safety and maintenance that they've been offering for more than two years. Grow up kids. Your another year older now so stop quarreling and start acting your age! You're right @Jdude95fuck Ardent. They really couldn't give a flying fuck about the well-being of DW or it's People anyway. Frankly, the sooner they piss off out of Australia, the better. We can only hope there is enough of a Dreamworld Theme Park left to salvage for a future Owner that has vision and know-how in Theme Parks to at least give the place a chance and some kind of tomorrow that it probably deserves.1 point

To be fair all the parks are pretty quiet today as far as summer holidays go. MW carpark wasn't quite full despite a few cars on the grass and WnW carpark looked like a normal weekend in Feb. I'd think attendance to be up tomorrow and then drop off by the end of the week to a reasonable level. Also a photo at 5.45 is a bit unfair. Having said that have heard numbers have been pretty weak at DW this last couple of weeks. There also hasn't been a really big day at any of the parks from what I've seen, which I think comes down to the timing of Christmas this year. Your traditional busiest day of the year is the first Wednesday after Boxing Day, but when Boxing Day is a Wednesday you don't get that massive 'look at how busy the parks are today! thing. DW had a couple of days pushing 9k last year, but I think they're a long way off that this year.1 point

Alright cool, I'll stop trying to say nice things about Dreamworld. Fuck Dreamworld, Ardent and everything they stand for. I wont defend or praise anything they do anymore. Better?1 point

For the record - If people want to waste their time writing bogus reviews then that's fine, kudos to you for the creativity. But when their responses start becoming abusive and offensive that's where we draw the line. We've removed a whole lot of posts here. Rest assured no one has missed out on anything other than a bit of fan fiction. 🙄 Every indication I have is that the ride has only been experienced by Brogent employees as the formal handover has not yet taken place.1 point

Are you serious? You’re acting like a half ass money grab refurb is major. Holly wood stunt driver 2 opened ages ago and it’s just a worse version of the original. And your giving credit to paradise country for having a Shaun the sheep show. Jeez. Dreamworld gets no credit for trolls village. Aquaman Exhibition. How about brickman Exhibition. If you are going to compare parks and degrade one, maybe at least try to include what one park has done instead of ignoring it. You actually said absolutely nothing about anything Dreamworld have added recently yet go on to talk about a Shaun the sheep show, a shit refurb and hwsd 2 which isn’t even new.1 point

It’s literally labeled on the map as “western show.” Sounds like something out of rct3.1 point

But what is window dressing, and what is real make-a-difference infrastructure? You talk about the redevelopment of the ice cream shop a few years ago. A few weeks back I talked about looking at buildings that were falling apart and I wondered how much was held together by paint. The building I was specifically referring to was THE ICE CREAM SHOP. As the saying goes, you can't polish a turd, but you can add glitter - and it would seem that that is precisely the kind of redevelopment they did with the ice cream shop if a few short years later the building looks as it does (go and view it from the train station and you'll see what i mean). They removed thunder river - It killed people. They removed Eureka Mountain - it sat rotting for more than a decade They removed the rest of gold rush - without TRRR and EMMR, what exactly was left? - Oh wait - the disused Skylink chairlift station that also sat rotting for a decade. You suggest they might have plans to remove rides - but history suggests that they need to shutter the ride and let it sit for 8 or more years before they do. How many years did the gravitron ride sit in the boneyard? So they renovated a store to capitalise on a new hot craze (lego). They rebuilt their old food outlet into something modern - which was only about 15 years overdue. They redeveloped tiger island, yes - but they botched it with the giant green prison. Coroborree was only done because of generous government grants for indigenous cultural projects. This wasn't done with their own money or because they felt strongly about the subject matter. The expansion of White Water World? A lazy river that WNW has had for more than a decade is hardly an inspiring investment - and its still just one attraction. The plans for that park had staged developments including numerous attractions, none of which we've seen - instead we've seen the kneejerk reaction to Aqualoop that is the Wedgie, Triple Vortex, and finally the lazy river... 3 new attractions in TWELVE YEARS. Shall we talk about the cock up that was Trolls Village that was supposed to open last Christmas, and didn't open until more than 8 months later? Plonked smack down in the middle of an ocean themed area? Shall we talk about those big screens or the revolving globe? Dreamworld have had screens all over the park for years, showing music videos and crappy advertisements for related products. I'm not getting excited over a few outdoor LED screens when their marquee attractions can't even stay open, or carry a full load of passengers. And the globe. Yeah - what a photo opportunity. Its pretty, but its just window dressing. It is a take it or leave it thing that wasn't really necessary. Things they could have spent their money on instead: Upgrading the control system on their flagship 21 year old coaster to newer technology (and actually running it at its capability Properly rebuilding Wipeout so that it can run as designed Running rides at capacity - both sides of Giant Drop, for example Maintaining a working steam railway, instead of wasting money on a glorified yard tractor that tears up the rails and constantly breaks down Maintaining the park's people soaking paddlewheeler attraction The article points it out better than I ever could - but there are just so many things WRONG right now, its hard to be positive in the face of such blatant mismanagement. You choose to focus on the positive, and let the negative slide, and thats your choice - but don't decry others who speak the truth - you can't live in a dreamworld and pretend that the issues don't exist, just because it doesn't fit your mould of 'fun'. If you're going to ignore the negative, then you shouldn't be complaining about bored train conductors. You can't have it both ways.1 point

Sorry Push but agree to disagree on this one. Dreamworld needs help, and yes it’s finally getting some investment, but Ardent have taken out too much financially and literally out of the park in the last 10 years, and it’s the reason the park is in its current sad state. TOT is limping along because Ardent did not want to spend the money for the major upgrade. SFMM got that upgrade and it shows. They have made poor choices in regards to where to skimp and where to spend the money over the years. Case in point, Dreamworld once had a charming river boat that needed refurbishment, instead of spending the money for marine grade wood products, they skimped and rebuilt the boat with non marine wood products to save money. The result? The boat requires constant attention and eventually they pulled the pin. The above is story is just one of many examples of why Dreamworld are in their current predicament. They were already on this downward spiral, it just took the accident to stop the spiral. And to be fair, people on here don’t “hate” Dreamworld, no one on here wants to see a sick theme park, what they object to is Ardent and the way they are running the park.1 point

Great summary, Dreamworld have spent money on the unnecessary to save on the important. A visit to the park now becomes a quest to find which rides are open. Ardent management had no idea how to run the place prior to the rapids accident, and it's clear that they still don't. SkyVoyager is nice but it's also the only major addition since 2014, far too long between drinks for even a medium-sized park. The sooner this place is bought out the better, hopefully by a group with some money and common sense.1 point

That's a perfectly valid opinion. I just prefer to focus mostly on the positives, and there's plenty of that at Dreamworld!1 point

It's possible to love theme parks and still hold them to account push. Entering peak period with so many rides out of action is ridiculous and Parkz is not being unsupportive of the GC tourism industry for calling them out in my opinion.1 point

Would seem logical, though some iconic places left off. Perhaps they couldn’t get permission for use of Uluru for example.0 points

This post have been doing rounds on Facebook: WARNING TO ANYONE GOING TO THEME PARKS over Christmas!!!!! This is a pretty sensitive post and I still am a bit shaky typing it, but it was an eye opener and brought home a reality today at Movie World to trust NO-ONE. We witnessed an attempted child abduction, in bright sunlight, with many adults by and no protocol in place. Mum and Scarlett were in the line for a kids car ride in a shed. I was sitting by the glass door watching. Scarlett was next on the ride and I saw a man jump the glass fence when the ride finished. Without realising, I didn't see him exit but you see some strange things and thought nothing of it as was getting ready to film Scarlett. Two little kids came out and then a Mother started screaming and running looking frantically for her son, who had not come off the ride by the exit. I overheard the young daughter say to the Mum that "the indian man we have been speaking to helped him out". I saw that Mother's whole life crash before and the look of pure fear washed over her. I ran over and we called security to help. This is the scariest part, Movie World had no systems in place for this! The staff were slow and unsure what to do, apart from call security. The poor Mum was in absolute shock, so I told her to show them a picture, get descriptions over the radio fast and close the park and call the police. One of the workers said, " What are you a copper?" And I yelled back "He's 3! This is too suss!" The Mum dropped to the floor and started praying to God. By the time the security arrived, other parents started searching too and then we got the call 10 mins of frantic searching he was found. The worst part, 50 metres from the exit, metres from us with the same man that jumped the fence. The same man who had preened them all day. The boy was returned to the Mother. It appears he jumped the glass door, took him through a back exit and was headed out the park. I believe reports are being followed up etc. Such a warning to anyone in care of kids. I haven't ever experienced something so close to home that has scared me to the core!0 points

They've just finished removing Thunder River Rapids, which was a huge ride. The disused Eureka Mountain Mine Ride has also gone, as has the Gold Rush area. They might well have plans to remove some other rides but it shouldn't be done all at once, otherwise the place would feel like a ghost town! With the Lego store and restaurant at the entrance, SkyVoyager, complete resurfacing of Main Street, new large screens on Main Street, new revolving globe near the entrance, recently redeveloped Tiger Island and Coroberree, and the current expansion of Whitewater World including new Adventure River, the redevelopment of the ice cream shop and coffee shop at the front of the park a few years ago, new Trolls Village including Trolls Funhouse, it's very hard NOT to see the investment that's happening, but of course it does take time! 😀0 points

As someone who absolutely loves living in SE Queensland, and the amazing access we have to so many theme parks (Dreamworld being the largest), it saddens me to see so much negativity about it. This on a site that's all about theme parks, in a forum whose members love theme parks. Anyone who visits Dreamworld can easily see investment all around the park. Sure there's a lot more still to be done, but I would like to believe it will be. Of most immediate interest of course is SkyVoyager, which I'm sure will be one of Queenslands (and Australias) best theme park attractions! The atmosphere in Dreamworld is energetic, and most of the staff offer guests great friendly greetings (some train announcers excepted)! Exciting things are happening! Let's show our support for Dreamworld!0 points
