  1. Jason Momoa’s handprints and signature in a concrete block (Chinese Theater style) have been recently added to the Aquaman Exhibition.

  2. Nah mate - i didn't mean the photos made into a slideshow video - i meant the 4 second epileptic fit that occurs after pressing 'record'

  3. Wow those old Wave Swingers last and last! The MM one was not brand new in the 80s and to think these things are still going around decades on! I had heard it went to Wonderland, what after that? Is it the Aussie World one?

  4. I’ve saw this ad months ago as well online and TV here in Brisbane. It’s the TV commercial that I first noticed the kids are dressed as the members of the Mystery Inc gang.

  5. Yeah I dont think that it will be overly affected to be honest. Coffs Harbour is a destination in itself and situated perfectly halfway to the Gold Coast. Its the perfect place to stay for travellers from Sydney or Newcastle. I think that you plan to stay in Coffs no matter what and a bypass isnt going to affect this decision overly much. If you are just passing through and doing the 8 hour run in one go, the bypass will be most welcome.

  6. Thanks for the information @AlexB. Both of our kids "came out through the sunroof", will warn the wife when she finally can get on.

  7. We're talking about being drunk. GCAF updates are generally videos that look like they were taken by someone drunk... therefore, it's still on topic.

  8. A Dan Murphy's would work better with a cricket field.

  10. I was actually curious to see what this looked like, so I did one! So not much overlap for this one. AP/FF have overlap around Werribee, but FF and GW have a decent amount in the inner -mid south eastern suburbs. I also did a 90 minute one, which I think is the maximum most people would be willing to drive to go to one of these parks: So Funfields and Gumbuya end up being within reach of virtually all of metro Melbourne, but Adventure Park only reaches to the inner eastern suburbs and some of the Mornington Peninsula (the map even takes the ferry trip into account!). It's also almost reaches Ballarat. Also interesting is that Funfields almost reaches Shepparton in 90mins while actually reaching the Geelong CBD also. Gumbuya almost reaches Sale (and covers most of SE Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley).

  11. i get the analogy - and of course, those in Geelong are unlikely to trek to one of the other two, but my point was more that - for most of "central melbourne" they really have the pick of all three.

  12. I guess in Brisbane terms, if I lived on the Sunshine Coast I wouldn't bypass Aussie World to go to a park in Ipswich even if it were slightly better, despite them being an hour of the CBD. I'd drive even less for Water Park so I do buy the idea that they each have their own catchments supporting them. Having said that, I think they don't compete with the Gold Coast parks directly but they certainly would have an affect on the Gold Coast as destination. I mean why base your holiday plans around parks when you've got some in your backyard that pretty well already scratch that itch? It could also be that parents think 'Our kids loved Gumbuya, they'd go friggen nuts with the big parks on the Gold Coast. Let's holiday there!' So in conclusion I have no firm opinion. Sorry for wasting everyone's time, but I've typed it and dammit this is the internet so I'm posting it.

  13. Many of these wave swingers had very similar art work on them, so its quite easy to mistake one for the other - one has to trace the history of each to determine when, and where they came from...

  14. I can confirm it is March's unit that used to be at LPS. It actually went back there in the mid 2000's for a period of time before travelling again. On some of the panels around the ride when it's set up it actually has the history of the ride and how it came from LPS.

  15. I knew I had some shots of the teaser promos for Hairaiser- these ones were used in October of 2013. As for Volare, this will not be the first Wave Swinger to call LPS home- there was an installation of one in the 1982 incarnation of the park and it resided about halfway down the midway. It was later sold to a travelling showman and is still touring the circuits I believe. @HussRainbow87 will be able to help out with the showman who owns it....Is it March's? And of course where the Volare has been installed was the location of the parks former and much lamented rare Huss UFO, named Flying Saucer, which was scrapped due to difficulty in obtaining parts for this scarce Huss creation. A great loss. Of course like many LPS rides, the name for the Huss UFO, Flying Saucer , was a throwback to another classic ride also named the Flying Saucer. This is an extremely rare type of ride, the only type of its type in existence to have come to Australia and there is only one surviving example of it in the world. This resides in England in Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre, a living museum for rare and old heritage rides. Please follow the link to learn more about this ride; https://www.fairground-heritage.org.uk/collections/shaws-moonrocket/ Below are a couple of video blogs from trips to Dingles Heritage Centre and in them both you can see the Flying Saucer or Moon Rockets in action. If you love rare and heritage rides like me, then you will find this place a fascinating view. I would love to visit here one day. Enjoy.

  16. There is a huge overlap in the catchment areas, when you consider the positioning of Melbourne in relation to the three of them. find the centre mark on the map below, and it'll land quite near the city.
